Someone compare this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mhnpzy
To this: http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8700/pd?oc=fdcwgs105r&model_id=xps-8700#overrides=

For the cost, I honestly don't see why the build is better....

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 745 4GB DDR3
It's god awful.
I think the CPU IGP might be better :P (the gpu built into the cpu).

You won't be able to play star citizen on it, or any other reasonably demanding game.
Also you can't OC the cpu of that dell one.

And Dell desktop cases suck. (sorry I just really hate dell, ripped off too many people with shoddy computers!)

I don't understand, why is it so poor? Is it just the GTX745?

The GTX 745 is a low end GPU.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+745&id=2843

Half the score of a GTX 760, 1/3 the score of a GTX 770, probably 1/4 the R9 290 in G3D.
You won't be running anything at 1080p.

The cpu it has is good, but it's not overclockable.
The case won't keep the components cool. (pretty much 0 fans)

It is a good price however, I tried to match it with part picker:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9zTjBm

Not as good a build and more expensive. (Dell wins there)

I wouldn't recommend getting it.
Even if you upgrade the GPU to a 770, it's another $300, taking it to $1200, probably voiding the warranty (not sure). You could sell the GTX 745 getting ~$100 back, though if you haven't voided the warranty, I would keep it (as you'll need to put it back in if you ever RMA it). It would get super hot and probably underclock everything (everything would run slow).

If you really CBA to build your own, try this one:
http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-x51-r2/pd?oc=dpcwxy03s&variant=6:G760TI~3:8GB2D&model_id=alienware-x51-r2#overrides=dpcwxy03s:6~G760TI;3~8GB2D

Should come up with 8gb RAM, GTX 760Ti (it's a GTX 670, which is a bit slower than a GTX 770), mice & keyboard (free but not pre-selected ) and $1164.

I picked a similar build in partpicker:
(click to show/hide)

I would still build my own, but the alienware isn't a bad deal. It'll run hot and you won't be able to OC it, but the price isn't bad for what you get.
Though it might underclock itself when it gets too hot.

The i5 build in partpicker http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YBVLFT is a bit cheaper, but I reckon it is the best bet at that price. (faster, cooler, OCable)

EDIT: Couple of reviews of the X51
http://www.digitalversus.com/desktop/alienware-x51-p16124/test.html
http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19541852.aspx

Temps aren't as bad as I thought <80C (GPU), should last awhile.
Some people mention some issues with power draw (the 760ti wanting too much from the 330W PSU), so it turns off/blue screens.
But I don't think it's all that common (Dell would fix it anyway).

Alright, the reason i'm concerned about building it is because i'm 16, I've never built a computer before, and my Dad is pretty certain i'll mess it up somewhere. How much would it cost to buy something similar to the build (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mhnpzy)? He said he'd pay the difference :P

I wouldn't worry about breaking anything while building it.

I got my 0 experience friend to build one, he's the clumsiest person I know, he built his perfectly.
Everyone has to start somewhere :P (there are plenty of youtube guides online, many show you exactly what to do).

If you insist however:
http://www.originpc.com/configurator
Seem to be Ok pricewise (they do add on like $300 :S), nice website though :p. (They seem to be ok review wise too)
Ended up being around $1650 with the Corsair 350D (nice case), you can reduce it to ~$1500 going with the Hadron case.
Hopefully this is with tax :P

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_Z97_i5_Configurator
$1346
After I picked/changed:

CASE: Corsair Obsidian 450D w/ USB 3.0, Fan Control, 2x 200mm fans, Side Panel Window [+19]
CD: LG 12X Internal Blu-ray Drive & DVDRW, 3D Playback Combo Drive (Black Color) [FREE Blu-Ray Combo Drive with all 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 or i5 processors purchase]
    CD2: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive [+17] (BLACK COLOR)
    CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4690K 3.5 GHz 6MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150 (All Venom OC Certified) [+24]
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 7200 RPM HDD [+4] (Single Drive)
MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory (Corsair Vengeance [+33])
    MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z97-A ATX w/ Intel GbLAN, 3 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1, 2 PCI, 1 x M.2, 1x SATA Express, 4x SATA 6Gb/s (All Venom OC Certified) [+73]
POWERSUPPLY: 750 Watts - EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B 80 Plus Bronze Modular Power Supply [+36]
SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
VIDEO: EVGA Superclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card [+315] (Single Card)
And I picked the Razer abyssus mouse + keyboard combo (like $25, good deal)
And windows 64bit 7/8 either will do.

Make sure to pick all the freebies that apply ;) (I picked the blue ray as it comes free with i5's :D)

This is before tax, so it'll probably end up being ~$1500 like the Origin one.

The Alienware I posted before is another possibility, not sure if $1164 is before tax or not (hopefully :P)

I have a feeling cyberpower will end up being cheaper and probably slightly better parts than the origin one (90% the same, so it's no biggy).
The alienware isn't OCable, but has a better CPU, but slightly worse graphics.

It's probably the difference between starcitizen on high and very high @1080p. (760ti might squeeze into very high, not sure :P)

Just a thought Lemon, all the games you've stated in the OP, aren't they all games that are far from being finished?. If you're looking to build a PC for those games, wouldn't you just be better off waiting a while, because for the same money as you will spend now you'll be able to buy better hardware in the near future, like before these games are released, lol.

Well i'm not building the PC just for those games, but knowing they're coming out, I'd like to have a computer that will be able to run those, rather than having to upgrade.
