I would personally say that in many countries scientists, professors and doctors (etc.) employed by public services are so underpaid, they are bound to the most altruistic people in the world, knowing what they would get if they were working for someone that paid proportionally to their skills.

I'm not a deregulation fanboy and I think liberalizing even the most oligopolic sectors like energy, water, mail etc. like the european union is doing is completely retarded. Why ? Because econ 101 will tell you that. However, what I see is that providing too many social services is an enormous weight for many countries. Often they cannot sustain it and plunge in debt, worsening their situation even more. That a country run with long term goals in mind would keep loans going for extended amounts of time is absurd to me

As long as 5% of population control over 95% of wealth, of course the state will not have enough money to to sustain social services, and USA is a grand example of such a state. That 5% is also paying a half of the taxes for the whole thing. How is money distribution directly impacting the state in any way ? Actually uniformly distributed money would decrease tax revenues a lot.

The Swedish economic model in the Swedish context is doing all right. Just now are they starting to go all "omg, poor immigrants !". Almost everywhere else, yes it is in fact unsustainable.

anyone realize that a german government back around millenniums beginning lost its follow up election due to the "mean ol changes" they had to do to let germany not fall into a crisis of debt that would have crippled the country for decades if not done? 

german voters were so pissed that the spd lost their power,  but they did it anyway.  so the things done were hard on the germans,  but not as hard as the countermeasures that would have been necessary today if not done back then.

unfortunately other countries did not have parties willing to sacrifice their office for the better of the country,  instead going on following an opportunistic rampage of leading their trusting people into financial demise.
and even more unfortunately,  these countries now have to pay a much larger price to get back on their feet :/

but blaming german politicians for sorrow is just the easy way out, meh.
