Havent dabbled in m&k controls, but they have improved over time and so i assume they are fine now. Controller master race though

I liked playing with a controller until the camera boss fucks you and suddenly faces you straight into a wall and you have to do a quick 180. That will always be clunky on controllers.

Seems like it will be very similar to Souls games:

Wilkinson: Do you believe this title will turn out to be a very From-like and challenging game?

Miyazaki: Yes, I do. The importance we place on the joy the player experiences through overcoming challenges will be the same as it is in our other titles. I believe it will prove to be a very satisfying experience.

Earlier I had said that this title focuses more heavily on RPG elements. This title will include a wide variety of weapons, magic, and ways to engage enemies, that make it possible to provide users with a style of gameplay and strategy that suits them.

Even when compared to the Dark Souls series, I believe this title will provide even more variety in the ways for players to overcome challenges and tweak their tactics when facing enemies.

Wilkinson: What genre do you think Elden Ring will fall under?

Miyazaki: It is a third-person action RPG.

Unlike Sekiro, which has a heavy focus on action, Elden Ring puts more focus on RPG elements.

Of course, we are not shying away from the fun of responsive melee-based combat, and these elements will be present as well.

This is the best part. Exactly what I'd want from the game. Man, open world RPG with Sekiro-style combat and a mythos written by GRRM has the potential to be so fucking good.

A game with Sekiro's mechanics and a RPG style plot+quests would be something truly amazing.

... like I said here. Thanks for listening to me, Miyazaki-sama

I wonder if they can make the combat as intricate as Sekiro if they are going heavy on RPG elements. Its going to be tough balancing so many weapons, i expect it to be a bit more streamlined. Even though sekiro isnt that complex it'll probably be a bit mouch to expect that kind of gameplay from multiple weapons.

It will be nice to see what kind of world they make though, most games so far have been relatively compact with multiple paths, but from the interviews it almost sounds like this one will be wider and open. If it is complete free roam i'll be happy, so long as its properly filled with rewarding exploration.

Cant wait for some gameplay footage.

I'm interested to see just what we are getting instead of more ASoIaF books. Maybe it will be fun!
