What I'm trying to understand is whether the client side slow down on collision is too much or too little.

The real "fix" to stop warping around like an idiot is just to press s really quickly and nothing else and then you can continue riding.
You should be punished for having a shitty attitude.

Client side is too slow?

It's like when my horse, moving at high speed, hits something (non-movable or movable) at some angle which causes an immediate decrease in speed instead of a horse rear. The horse movement animation stops working and instead my horse skips in the direction that i was heading.

Now i no almost nothing about anything you guys do, but it seems that the client cant properly handle the decrease in speed, and it happens more when a fast moving horse hits something that only marginally drops the speed.

Also just to make it clear: afaik, it needs to be an immediate/sudden decrease in speed, like hitting a horse or smashing through a shieldwall with a courser

What Hobb said, and until this thread I never realized that the "glitching" only happened when my horse collided with something and drastically slowed down immediately (but not fully stopped).  Also to answer cmp the client is behind, if I anticipate where my char would normally be (ahead of my animations) I can hit people 10 feet ahead of me (I can hear them get hit if I time it right) and then my client will "catch up" a second later.

And this happens only to the player's horse? When other horsemen collide with infantry, they never skip ahead?

From our perspective we don't see this, it's completely clientwise

This. I never see anyone else spaz out like this, and it only happens to me. Based on the way enemies behave when I glitch out, it seems that they can see my character for where he actually is. So the server doesn't show any problems, it's very likely to be client side.

What I have found is that I need to stop holding down W (which you usually do when riding) for the teleporting to stop. After a sec or two I then regain control of the horse again.

Sometimes that is still not fast enough to prevent me from "waking up" in a ditch or ocean though.
For while the fire in the heart of a single Remnant still burns... can Stratia truly have fallen?

Well as I said, quickly pressing S and nothing else fixes this (afaik) rather quickly. Tbh haven't really had this bug in a long time because I don't spaz on the keyboard like I used to when playing cavalry

Don't know if its related but, ever since the last patch that added the ability to bind dismount, I've noticed a huge increase in how often I get the horse sliding glitch. Sometimes my horse will glitch slide right when the round starts and I've collided with nothing(not a problem I had before).

If it happenes at the round start it might be related with:
Seems like with latest update "load textures on demand" is ticked by default. If someone experience game freezes untick it.

I have seen other horses teleport after bumping something a few times before. It's a very rare occurrence.

Yeah this happens to me a lot when I will go to slice another horseman and rider with my 2h and graze their horse with mine which slows me down but I keep moving and just glitch everywhere and only stops if I run into a wall, pike or hit the S button and slow down to a complete stop. Then I can continue on normally but the glitch is usually like my horse model looks like its just standing then teleports every ten feet instead of running.
My horse is named pebbles and we like to try.
