althetics, how much does the average player have

I feel like it does have one redeeming quality.

8+ Athletics and light armour (red gambeson and padded coif for me, typically) make a hell of a difference when fighting multiple opponents. Contrasting between 8 athletics last retirement and my current 2 (about to be 4) - it's pretty huge in this specific situation.

7 is best atm, 6 is minimum imo, unless you go pure str.

After having done many 7-9 athletics characters that wear medium-ish armor I'd say spend your points elsewhere, or at the most stop at 3-4 athletics if you're going to put points in it.  Anything above 3-4 seems to be a waste and better spent on other skills/stats

Exactly, unless you are planning to wear light armor or none at all, I'd recommend staying at 5 or below.

I'll add by noting that even the slightest change in terrain seems to drastically affect your movement rates so those 6 points in athletics become even less useful...

3-4 is enough for the "average" player, doesn't matter which build. Isn't wrong to have a bit more...
