I don't know the mechanics of it but from my experience, you'll get stunned enough(sometimes wpf in poles helps this) that you can't block if you don't spin stab or you're attack hits the ground.

 Only time you don't need to spin stab is for cav that is charging you head on. This is with longspear, pike is more or less the same but the stun is even worse and seems more frequent.

Also jumping is very useful to gain/lose distance

I really enjoyed 18/21 with long spear. Fast enough I can usually 2 shot people as there stunned and its king in cluster fucks where you can pick off people and wade in and out with 7ath.

I find awareness and reaction time plays the biggest part when fighting multiple enemy's, of course blocking and a little luck along with it.

I'm not sure but I heard that the NA battle, NA Seige and NA Duel are all on the same box?
