If you see a need for an article, by all means create it. Nobody is "in charge" of the wiki. That's sort of the point of the wiki. Just be prepared to have folks mess with your formatting to (hopefully) improve it.

Also, I'd suggest getting permission from various clans before posting their information to a public wiki.

Definitely need image capability.  Perhaps Vargas can do it since he is a wiki admin now.

Thanks for this. Added quicklink to IRC page on Main Page.

Nice job so far, looks like we got a few excellent editors already.

Looks like Arson remade a downloading & installing page (had similar stuff in http://wiki.c-rpg.net/index.php?title=Getting_started), making the steps a lot less detailed. This is of course a matter of opinion, but I think the newbie guides and basic install steps should rather be too detailed instead of too vague. Someone often pops to IRC or makes a forum post requesting help about stuff that seems trivial to anyone who's played the mod for any time at all. I'll re-add the details later if no one strongly disagrees.

Another important thing: let's try to make each article have a short overview, just like normal Wikipedia. A short paragraph or two giving the basic impression of what the article discusses in detail. This way people can get an overview without reading through the full article - you don't want to read through every detail when you've just started to play. Newbie-friendliness again.

Thanks for the nod, and I agree the install information is short. I actually copied that directly from the c-rpg.net install page, so I'm glad you are able to see it was a bit lacking to begin with.

Continuing to flesh this out today. The help is appreciated, guys.

Also, we're still unable to link to or add images. That would really help on pages that explain how the character page looks, as well as showcasing weapons and armor. I'd like to request from chadz admin access on the wiki since I plan to spend a good bit on time on it, if I could just find the damn IRC information.  :P

And you gain less gold, so you're more or less the same in the end.

Only if the round actually ends shorter, which doesn't seem to be the case most times. Personally, I tried to be as aggressive as possible to reduce the costs of repairs since my death doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

I've created a new front page for the wiki. I feel they're more effective when they're short and to the point, and since cRPG is growing all the time, I thought that a newbie-friendly welcome would be handy. I'll create appropriate subpages so that people can fill in information.

A Guides section should be creates shortly for folks that want to include items of opinion and less objective material.

This thread was a great (terrible) idea. More circlejerking.

http://wiki.c-rpg.net

I have no idea how that thing works, so if anyone wants some special rights, contact me in IRC.

Thank you very much for this, chadz. I think this will turn out to be one of the best things to happen to cRPG in a while.

I think if players had a single repository to place their information that it would fill up pretty quickly. As far as guides being "subjective", sadly I agree, and I feel it's because there are few confirmations on exactly how certain game mechanics work without speculation. There's really no excuse for a mod as simple as cRPG not to have precise information on all mechanics.

I can tell you right now that I'd have no motivation to listen to the 3 circle-jerking high level players that votes themselves in as an arbitrary leader for a match, and I think you're fooling yourself if many others would either. There's simply no motivation for players to have or listen to a leader in a game when most leaders would be terrible, or most players would think themselves better capable of handling their own tactics.

Now, you could consider adding mechanics to make it beneficial to listen to a leader, but let's not confuse what games SHOULD do and what gamers WOULD do.

AUTOBALANCE: Still seems borked, and won't balance after the initial round 1 balance. It's not terribly effective and still leaves most games one-sided. The final winner is often determined after the first match.

Search no more  :D
It's a little old, but still useable.

Doesn't do any good being on another forum, and outdated. Also, new players would never know to look there.

Suggestions Corner / An Official Wiki
« on: January 11, 2011, 07:03:08 pm »
Since coming to cRPG I've noticed that very little official information is available to players. Explanations of retirement are scarce, changelogs are almost non-existant, and not a shred can be found on Strategus. Hell, I had to ask in-game to find out that Strategus was down since the latest patch. I thought I was doing something wrong.

That being the case, I think it would be easy and effective to add an official wiki to c-rpg.net. Yes, there are various wikis around the internet, but none for cRPG that I've found, all relating instead to Warband. If the administrators of cRPG can't find it within themselves to make official documentation on various subjects, then let the hundreds of dedicated players who are here do it. It would be simple to add a Wiki button right here on the forums, and allow the Wiki to complete itself as all wikis do. A few mod developers could check up to make sure information is accurate, but otherwise it would mostly be guides and hands-off. I think this could only improve the cRPG community and is desperately needed in my opinion.
