I am walrus, palatro did it for a gen and is now a thrower.  maple whisky is a throwing lancer, bitchyouaint is a 2her currently.  Not trying to downplay it.  You said Semenstorm comes on with 10 maulers, and i corrected you.  Its 2 maybe 3 maulers from semenstorm.  Fluxy is the only other notable long mauler that i can think of off the top of my head that isn't in semenstorm.  I have never even remotely seen 10 long maulers on 1 team, 5 maybe, but you know that is few and far between. 

On the topic of skill, i can just as easy say that what you do, 1h with shield is skillless.  Ive shielder well over 10 gens in CRPG.  I challenge you to try out this build and pull a decent score.  I promise you, it is significantly easier to score well with a shield, long pointy stick, or a longsword. 

Can you honestly tell me who is noteworthy with a crushthrough weapon on NA other than a couple semenstorm guys and fluxy_mb?  Not to put anyone down, but nobody really stands out besides maybe 4 people.  Players always flock to the easiest way to play games, which is why you see so many crossbows, throwers, longsworders and spearmen.  What do you not see a lot of? Mauls, because 9/10 people who pick one up suck ass with them.

lol the problem with this thread is that you are all EU, quite literally you have not a clue whats goin on in the NA server(you all complain about ranged, which we dont seem to have a problem with, our problem are mauls)......We have the whole Semenstorm Horde literally all using long mauls, so in turn you will have around 10 long maulers who either instantly knock u down or just ct you to death with no skill involved.  Please come play on NA, you will see the light of day, i die to Rohypnol and his maul crew almost every round, hell, ill start taking screens of the entire maul crew.  Its bad, its meta gaming at its finest and it sucks, because it makes it stupid to play when u are slaughtered without a chance to survive.

Exaggeration at it's finest.  There are 3 of us who at running plate/maul builds, not 10.  Long mauls are 76 speed, meaning that nearly any weapon can outspam it.  Long maul also requires at least a minimum hold in order to get any sort of crushthrough. 

I'm sorry that you feel dying to crushthrough is gay and requires no skill, but I personally feel that it is one of the only sure solutions to the amount of retarded shielders (abusing that 1h thrust) and spearmen, there are so many on NA.  Mauls are the perfect solution to all you knuckleheads who do nothing but abuse how imbalanced the thrust mechanic is in this game.  Thrust a mauler ---> receive weapon lock and then get your head caved in. 

Just out of curiosity, what do you think mauls should be good against?  They suck vs ranged, suck vs cavalry, suck vs agility builds, suck vs fast weapons.  That leaves spearmen and shielders.  Do you think it would be fair to remove shielders (even though it shouldn't be hard to outspam a maul)  from this list so that mauls are only good against 1 directional spears?

I support people trying to come up with new ideas, but I think there are currently more important things that should be looked at.  For instance, having more than just Tydeus handling balance would be a huge step in the right direction.  Or maybe fixing some of the major bugs in strat battles.  There is a lot of stuff that more than likely will never happen, and this will probably end up being one of these things.

Because NA1 was turning into all maulers, xbows, and HA at that same time and many people just GTX.

Is it really necessary to lump maulers into the same category of annoying as Xbows and horse archers?  I'm truly offended.

I think he has learned his lesson.  A long ban due to depriving a troll of 2 minutes of play time by teamkilling seems to have changed bitch's ways.

As much as it may seem like a great idea to be asking for a major balance change to a core game mechanic, please don't tempt Tydeus.  We don't need anymore extremely ridiculous balancing.  If anything just keep pushing for a WM overhaul.

General Discussion / Map Changing in NA1.

I hope that I am not alone in feeling this way, but I would like to respectfully ask that Admins on NA1 refrain from changing maps to Native - Arena all the time.  Yes, I know that some people like arena and that is fine.  Have it added to the server rotation and then we can play it when it pops up.  But the problem is that every time you forcibly change it to arena, it resets the map rotation.  Myself and many others play map after map that we don't particularly like because we know that eventually a map that we do like will pop up and we will get to enjoy it.  But constantly resetting the map rotation because a map pops up that you don't like is unfair to the players who put up with maps that they do not like.

Not trying to cause any drama here, just asking for admins to let the map rotation be.  If you don't like a map or want to add one that isn't on rotation, feel free to go change the rotation.

Well like i said, I am guilty of revenge team hitting due to being enraged at his team hits previous rounds.  This was not something that continued any further than that round.  But instead of taking it in stride; he, within minutes, had this thread up.  It appears to be baiting tactic.  He knows most players don't screenshot and request bans, so he team hits and grieves until someone reacts, then he posts a thread.  The point was made, and I will no longer revenge team hit.  If you need to punish based on this, its fine.  Ill just have to start covering my ass by screen shotting every time I am team hit.

What we can learn tonight is that oohillac cries alot.  We all know this.  He gets teamhit / teamkilled and its off to the forums for a good cry and an attempt to cause trouble. 

The amount of times both oohillac and his clan intentionally teamwound me is crazy.  Do i immediately screenshot and and post a ban thread?  No.  I realize that this is a game and move on.

I suppose in light of how hyper-sensitive this guy is, I will refrain from revenge team hitting him.

Actually, with 10 riding the horse repairs maybe once every 2 maps.  Not nearly as bad as you might think ;)

I'm down for the no load on horse back.

Reduced accuracy would be great too.  w/ a bow you can ride around with 180 WPF and unless you get horse archery you will have bad accuracy.  Makes sense to me!

Horse crossbow players get horse archery too you inbred.

Well that's a load of crap. First off if he was leeching he would be banned for it and Ive seen him go 17-1 on a map before so if that's not contributing, maybe you should be banned for leeching because I don't remember you pulling anything like that.

Secondly he isn't invincible and jus cause he can run away doesn't mean he can't be killed. Most of the time someone gets the jump on him and he gets dehorsed or I get lulled into chasing him and get him or I get dehorsed. Point being if doesn't have a good k:d its because he's being countered which is what you want right?

Thirdly the "risk" part I think definitely comes in when they are taking shots at people the closer they get more likely they can hit them and this is especially true for fighting against other cav you miss hitting another cav your just asking to get dehorsed by him because they will just continue to chase you down.

This all comes from playing as a HA with 8 riding and champion Arabian, even with that I get caught quite often by other cav

Theres no point in debating with him.  He is of the same mind as Slamz and his lot that only play infantry.  They tend to make up shit because they get repeatedly killed by HX and can't do anything about it.

For instance:
-Prancing around away from the real battle, avoiding danger... obvious bullshit.  Spectate for 1 round and you can tell thats a lie.
-Leeching and not contributing...  Topping the scoreboards almost every map.  Clutching the round against the odds frequently.  Guess thats not contributing.

Do you know how we generally play HX?  We do our best during the round to eliminate as many ranged as possible.  This isn't difficult because the majority of ranged players are focused on shooting peasants to boost their KDR.  Then when the round is towards it's end, there are less ranged to counter us.  Its called strategy friend.  Try convincing your ranged players to shoot our horses down instead of shooting Joe_Peasant. 

Oh and "you didn't read my post fully" reply.  Option 3 dude.  "drastically reduce accuracy".  Why would this be an option?  Its already significantly more challenging than ground xbow/archery.  This would only really fuck the 2 people who are causing all the hate by killing you.  Which leads to my initial assertion: you are angry at being repeatedly killed by HX and want it to stop.

I would love to hear a reply regarding forcing the MOTF to spawn at 2:00.  If delaying is your main gripe (which i doubt), then problem solved right?  Or is it simply your goal to ruin the class that you are personally unable to counter?

Tugboat, what I don't get is how you are this incredibly dense.  The people who you complain about delaying, with 0 kills, wasting time will be no different whether or not you nerf xbow cav.  DELAYERS WILL DELAY.  Your nerfs wont cause any issue for the bad players, they will still be useless and delay.  Accuracy nerfs, speed nerfs, whatever the fuck nerfs wont change anything with the scenario you described.  The only thing that needs to be changed is forcing MOTF to spawn with 2:00 or 1:30 left on the clock.  Thats it.

Love these threads.  Lets nerf a class because 2 players play it effectively!  Honestly, please tell me who these mysterious horse crossbowmen are who are always the last alive and causing games to drag on forever?  Rohypnol is pretty much the only one that does this.  I do this maybe once every 4 or 5 rounds.  Who else?  I rarely, if ever, see any other horse crossbows survive to be the last one on their team alive. 

Lets look at some of the desired changes:

-Lets greatly reduce the accuracy of the HX?  Obviously spoken by someone who has never tried the class.  The only thing more challenging accuracy wise in this game would be HA.  If you suck in the slightest at archery or ground crossbow, you wont break a 1:1 KDR as a HX. 

-How about damage?  It takes 3 shots to kill most people, and when it rains (and it rains frequently) ... damage is gutted by like 50-60%. 

-Don't let them reload unless they are moving super slow!  Yeah... let me fire 1 shot for piddly-dick damage then run and hide so that I can reload without being a massive sitting duck.  That sounds like a plan.

-Reduce horse speed when horse is wounded.  You do know dude, that the horse dies in 2 arrows/bolts.  Sometimes 1 depending on where it is hit.  It is 1 shotted by a long dagger glancing its legs.  I don't think this is a relevant/needed change because arabians die fast enough.

-Don't allow reloads when bumping players.  I can understand that you hate this Lastkaze.  I've done this to you myself haha.  I honestly wouldn't care if this were changed.  It is really only productive to do this to ground xbows.

I strongly urge players who ask for the nerfs to crossbow cav to actually play the class.  Try it for a gen or on a STF alt.  Attempt to even get 10 kills in the duration of a map (Vast majority of people wont).  Every player I know that has done this has had a change of heart about their feelings towards the class.  After trying it, they understand how challenging it actually is. 

If you really want to stop the rounds from taking so long, petition for MOTF to spawn automatically at a certain time... say 2:00 on the clock.  Or based on percentages of players alive.  This would solve your problem of long matches without nerfing a class that 99% of the playerbase sucks/would suck at. 

TL:DR ~ Do not nerf a class because 2 players in the entire community are good with it.
