As far as REAL ANSWERS go, it's because it wasn't popular enough to continue hosting the dead servers.
More like the devs stopped supporting it, so it lost popularity then the servers died.

Definitely needed, although I wish swimming could be added with it... I'd still take drowning without swimming.

Just to be clear: I'm not talking about the ability to fight while swimming.
Getting stuck in deep water and having to walk out is just as stupid as not drowning.

People would block blows (with a shield or manually blocking) and would push their weight behind the block to knock the other person off balance (or even step aside to counter if someone was pushing, using their own force against them).  Not exactly a kick while blocking, but the same general idea.

I was very specific to say manual blocks, shield blocking makes more sense to me. You're also talking about using one's weight or momentum to help with the block but that's not what we have in this game.

Our kick: we very much come to a complete stop when we do it, thus no forward momentum whatsoever.

Remember, the animations in this game aren't really meant to be "This is exactly what is happening" so much as "This is the effect of what is happening".

I'm not going to pretend our characters are doing some super-advanced kick technique just to justify the result.
It's very much a basic stop-and-kick move.

People don't like you killing them because they don't get to sit there and leech while the ball is on the other side of the field, or you are stopping them from achieving their objective.

For the most part I was attacking/harrassing the goalie, the other defenders just came at me to try to get me to stop. I see this as ciable in general since I kept two other players (not the goalie) away from the ball making it easier on my team.

Those defenders may have been staying back to defend anyway, as it's not wise to leave the goalie alone in the first place.  You're just using whatever logic you need to justify yourself.

In fact, players like you often get passed the ball by teammates who actually think you're paying attention,
causing your team a turnover because you are too stupid to ever turn around.
You're hoping your actions will be useful to your team, instead of actually being useful to your team.

I agree with most of what Garison says, although I want goalies to keep their protected box...
maybe make the box much smaller, so long reach melee can poke at him... but that's as far as I'd ever go.

On top of weapons never breaking (and I don't mean repairs), they can also stop blows while a guy stands on one leg.

Of course they want both

No, you shouldn't assume they want both (even if they do.)
Thing is, most melee players prize their fucking duel skillz (1vs1) more than anything else, and the majority of the players are melee.
Ergo, most people in this mod do not value teamplay anywhere near as much as individual skill.

I have no idea what each dev's stance is, but you certainly shouldn't assume they want both equally.
The OP is a fair quesiton.

Only advice I can give if you're frustrated, which I frequently am, is to change builds / characters or just stop playing.

I seem to have a lot more fun when I lower my expectations and play a joke build or just moonlight as a peasant.  Save some coin, throw rocks, whatever.

I was wondering if we could improve the multi system, which prohibits gaining multipliers when there's less than 8 players, to at least allow gaining x 2.

Once the server is less than 8 players, it just dies and is real hard to populate again because there's no point in staying. So if we could at least gain x 2 maybe people would stay long enough to repopulate.

here is a gauge on whether not your doing good...

if u have an x5=yes
if u have x1=no

everything else is irrelevant,if you have an x5 your obviously doing something right if u have x1 there is obviously something wrong

Uhh, no.  Some of my 'best' games are on bad teams where I have to try and do everything myself.
I'll be doing great, individually, but have x1 for an hour.

Other times my team will be so stacked I can do jack shit and have x5 all day.

I can't believe how many people oppose something as simple as an Assist stat.
It's not for e-peen reasons, as many of you seem to believe. I can't recall any game where a person bragged about their assist count. 

It could even help a support player improve, by highlighting when/where they help the most.
Also, for new players just starting out: it's incredibly demoralizing to go kill-less, at least they could be recognized when they help kill.
