I'm back from my super long break!  It has been about 3 or 4 months I think, what new stuff has come into the mod?

Also, how is the community? Does the mod still have a good amount of people associated with it, or is it fairly barren atm?

General Discussion / After the Storm

The gaming storm (series of big video game title releases) has hit hard.

I just recovered from wading through a treacherous sea (76 hours of skyrim) along with a few stormy clouds (30 combined hours of  saints row 3 and battlefield). I am hoping that the promised land (C-rpg) is the way that it was when I was swept from the shore.

Are there any survivors? Did the land itself change in any ways? (are there still plenty of players, and have there been any major game changes)

If anyone finds this message, reply with haste...For I want to know if I am all that remains.

....you don't count as a survivor if your computer was too crappy to play anything else.

And yes, I'm talking about Skyrim!

What is it about the Computer RPG industry that makes them spend 50% of their budget on advertising a crappy product, 40% on graphics of said crappy product, 4% on the story, 4% on gameplay design and 2% on creative ideas?

How many times and in how many different "skins" do I have to play the delivery boy? How many times do I have to go around slaying rats of someones cellar?

"HEY YOU! YOU ARE THE HERO! THE PROPHECY SPEAKS OF YOU! YOU SHALL SAVE US ALL! NOW TAKE THIS RAKE AND GO BRING ME 3 loaves of bread...."

FFS!

Skyrim is a dumbed down (for dumb 15 year olds) version of a once good series.
Skyrim is an affront to PC users since they decided not to even BOTHER and make a proper keyboard/mouse port and the whole game feels as if the fact that you dont have a gamepad means you should be shot!

And before someones says "but the graphics are awesome!" well... 2 things... friend

a) Big whoopty doo! Good graphics? Is that even something we care about any more or hold as a standard? Its like say "yea okay the movie sucked but the 3d Graphics on this high profile Hollywood movie were soooo cool". How about some story for Gods Shake? How about some originality? Some immersion! How about some real, immersive PLOT that doesnt have to be 110% linear! And no choice is NOT about joining 1 of 3 sides to see the different cinematic finales

b) I am a firm believer that TOO good graphics and TOO realistic ones are a detriment. Much like when you read a book and love it and then the movie comes out and its CRAP. Its because in reality your imagination is usually (unless you are a turnip) much better than anything they can put on screen. Similarly... graphics that are too realistic in a game... somehow make it worse... it seems to real to be real... hence... fake.

So yea, play your polished, sugar coated turd for now...

I will turn to good old M&B that is not pretentious and does what it says in the box!

What? This game and its entire series have been one of the greatest things that ever happened to the gaming market.

They stand by the fact that they don't have to have multiplayer to make a game fun, they also spend copiuos amounts of time coming up with lore, creating randomization generators, making it playable for whatever class you would like. This game is a beacon to all of the RPGs on the market, in that it promotes attention to detail, and innovation above all else. Not only that, but they implement what their crowd wants into the game...Most of the new content is stuff that people really wanted to see, and ended up modding into Oblivion.

Yes, it has better graphics than its predecesors...Why shouldn't it? It only immerses players deeper into the experience.

If you hate doing quests like fetching bread, I would like you to look at RPGs in general. Take a look at mount and blade single player, how many times have you been asked to go herd some stupid cattle? If you are fetching bread the entire time in Skryim, I suggest you stop what you are doing, and immediately kill the baker...because its a game that promotes choice, and you can do that sort of thing.

Bashing Skyrim seems like a pathetic attempt at being a hipster.

So far...Cod blows, BF3 is pretty good, Skyrim stomps the life out of everything including eating and sleeping.

I seriously would not be surprised if people died from the sheer amazingness of Skyrim.

You want to use an underused polearm with some style? Double Sided Lance or Red Tassel Spear.

I did use the double sided lance for some time, was pretty decent...Though its speed compared to its other spear counter parts was a little lacking if I remember correctly.

The red tassle is alright, but I still see quite a few people running around with that thing.

You are one of the reasons why I don't want the Battlefork lol...I know it is a weapon you use often, so I don't want to look like a poser XD

Originality is a huge thing to me...after you learn how to block, play every class playable, it's really all that's left to do that feels new. And the last thing I want to do is be cramping anyones style.

I've been swapping classes and weapon for too long, and I want to settle with something that is original yet effective. To me it came down to the awlpike and the battlefork.

2h's all looked the same to me...one handers were fun for a while, but running around without a shield makes you look rather silly...so my last option was polearms, it seemed like they were functional and had alot of variety.

I didn't want the warspear, everyone uses that thing...I didn't like the bec, because in my eyes that is Gores weapon. Poleaxes, glaives, baradiches, I see those all the time too.

I tried using the staff for a while, but it didn't fulfil the "functional" role...And the quarter staff and iron staff look meh imo.
I don't like crushthrough, I think they are worse than archers (in terms of annoyance). I also dont like pikes because I like to duel every now and then.

So yah, if you have any other suggestions...It doesn't have to be an awlpike or fork. I have just been playing forever, and have never decided on the weapon I actually want to play up to MW with.

I found eggnog in my freezer, I was so excited that I decided to type avout it while not looking at the keyboard. Unfortuntely there was too much eggnof for me to be able to drink all of it during the given amount of time.

I was also wondering why ehhnof excperies so quicjkly necaise IApparemtly it was purcjased just the other day.

I bought it on Novrmbrt uk and it says it ec piers on Mopvermeber 156...

I mean reallyu, gow the hell am I supposed to ftrink that much eggnog in like a week?I guess if I had ghusets overr it would help, bit I don;t, so I am goibnf ro have ti soend evernight being vloated with ehhnof jhust ti finish it.

When I had a freind first join C-Rpg. They went on duel server and actually thought that duel server had auto blocking, and he just couldn't remember where the option was to turn it on....I trolled it out for a bit of course.
