General Discussion / Re: 0 Damage Reporting: Good thing or Not?
« on: September 04, 2013, 10:49:48 am »
Two melee assholes did this to me in NA DTV just a little while ago. I was trying to setup to shoot at the waves as they appeared. Time and again, for whatever douchebag reason they had, they'd surround me and wait for me to keep getting knocked down from touching them or nudging me, and let me die to the mobs, then fight. So, anyone can grief any allied ranged character they want into leaving, essentially, any server they want.

Reporting one person for that could take as much as five 3 wave rounds. Reporting more is stupid hard, because if they time two knockdowns close enough, and you're trying to play, not focus on reporting griefers, they can ensure you're screwed and only get one report between them. The report only works on the last person to have done anything.

Games should be fun, not give people license to completely waste others' time.

Awesomo. I'm glad you guys are still around. I had a hankering to play some native, which quickly led to me wanting to play c-rpg again.

Not that I intended to disappear like a ghost, but it was necessary for me to ensure I do well in my semester.

Anyway Tankerdoodle, historically, the tithe was 10% :)
Also I have no jorb, so please feel free to 100% of my zero dollars :D

edit: I don't know what all the american smokes are, but I am quite partial to Parliaments.

2nd edit: Tanken, you can get marlies here in Canada. 3rd edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=2SzkZm7JP58&feature=endscreen

Only serious in so far as it displayed the range of angles with which you can stab with a saber.

Way I figure it is it'd be like a more curved shashka in terms of animation. Shashka already has stab also.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting anything. I was just putting the idea out there in case someone also wants it to happen, but unlike me has the time and ability to help it along.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys! Yeah, the stabbing would be an issue...in terms of which stab to include.  ___

As this video using an american cavalry sabre demonstrates, the sabres can easily stab with a down turned palm or in the upturned supine position as well.

Also, cold steel is an awesomo site that does lots of videos for different melee weapons. Theres also a video for a napoleonic sabre from 1830 and a 3 part series outlining basic defense with sabres and cutlass, for those interested.

Not the same, but very close. Furthermore the the glory days of Polish saber was a comparatively far from the Middle Ages.

It would be cool to add it, but meh I doubt.

Good point on the timing Kalp. I've been hangin onto this suggestion for a while, and decided to suggest it when I saw that ranseurs and other late (16th/17th century) polearms were getting put in.

Not same sword, and you can stab with a szabla as their ends are often double bladed. Scimitar is more of a predecessor and general saber, not that you couldn't stab with them at all, but they weren't as well designed for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scimitar lists the szabla and karabela as related to the arabic scimitar.

Szabla is the Polish word for sabre, and it was born from the adoption of curved swords by Poles and Hungarians from eastern invaders, who they'd both had extensive contact with because of Mongol expansion. I'd like to see one or two of them in game. The wiki article details the history pretty well and also discusses general features as well as variant forms. The time frame for seeing true szabli as opposed to recovered eastern predecessors would have been late 1500's, with some of the variants coming later in different parts of the 1600's.

As I have neither the time nor skill to try to make models for a request like this, does anyone like the idea and/or is anyone willing to put in the time to make models for them?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szabla

My hope would be for a Karabela and the Hussar Sabre or Szabla Husarska but even getting just one in would be nice.

Now that my midterms are over, I'll very rikery make it for that.

General Discussion / Re: Riddles - Play and win cRPG gold!

Main: The -actors- themselves may refer below to Claudius who parties all night, keeping the wine flowing, and for whom trumpets sound to celebrate his drinking down all his wine at once. By refer I mean the players of the parts may employ visual cues or whatnot, to give the audience a hint of foreshadowing.

As for heaven directing it, they may refer to the gone off ghost (of a divine ruler, Hamlet's father) who has taken Hamlet's attention.
However, since kings ruled by divine right (even though Claudius was elected) they may refer again to Claudius off below, who acts less than devastated by his brother's death. Drinking so heartily that it has become a national fashion, and taking as queen his brother's widow, Claudius is in a sense working against his own agenda by enjoying his acquired position too much. As such, he could be seen to be inadvertently directing Hamlet to come to see the truth.

bonus 4: Yorick was meant to draw allusion to Richard Tarlton, an Elizabethan comedian who had been dead for reals, about as long as Yorick was in the play.

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Nerf Archery
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:17:23 pm »
You people who complain about archery, clearly haven't ever tried it and put up with all the bullshit involved, like arrows passing through models because someone decided to do a slight running turn, even though the arrow still goes into and through the model. Go nerf your balls.
