It will only serve to make you look like a whining child. And that's exactly what it looks like.

I should be able to +1 your posts in any forum. This is the most concise response in the thread.

Setting someone to rank zero gives you the option to "Accept" or "Ignore" their application; i.e., someone who applies is in your faction at rank zero. The problem is that anyone at any rank can see anything.

If I can get EU players to stop attacking us

Good luck. Most of them are isolationist pricks. The Nords always help us, though; try to get randomly spawned into their territory.

How can you block few ppl at once?

It's hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Players rarely, if ever, coordinate their strikes, and for some reason they often end up 2*pi/n out of phase--maybe they love rhythm--and with not much room for more than three players (n=3), there's plenty of time--especially when you consider that the guy in the middle can only stab or swing overhead, and occasionally the same is true for the edge players. (This is one reason I prefer to fight alongside a wall or fence if I'm caught defending against more than one person.) If you're lucky and they hit each other--you can usually see this coming before the hit actually lands--your gamble for smacking one of them is actually pretty safe. This is, to me, the primary advantage of the speed of the two-handed stab when you're in group fights.

The major exception to the phase delay is a large group of enemies chasing you because you are separated from your group. (Perhaps they have already gone to hell, and you are the last one standing.) Then the enemies tend to swing wildly and without regard for teammates' well-being.

breaking the ATTACK-BLOCK-ATTACK-BLOCK turn mechanic

I'm new to the game, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that breaking that static exchange is the beginning of the fight between any two melee players without shields, not just those with one-handed weapons. Successfully interrupting the rhythm gives you control over the next few moments until your opponent recovers and either reestablishes that rhythm or finds an opportunity to assert his own. This is, of course, based on my limited experience on the duel server, where I'm basically resigned to waiting for the better players to make mistakes (usually getting too cocky) before I can land a hit.

It's a map where both defense and attack can do teamwork on. One of the best maps when you get two organized teams against each other.

I agree, but with a caveat: while one organized team will absolutely destroy an unorganized one, it takes less organization for the defenders than it does for the attackers, so if both teams are organized, it is still more likely for the defenders to win. One of the primary problems is the Counter-Strike-style limit of two very small entrances to the objective; with this scenario, a group of ten or fifteen Teamspeak-enabled defenders--such as any collection of MB, HoC, or KUTT players--can easily defend against several waves of attackers who are almost forced to form a conga line on each side.

I think in strat 2 we capture a fief that had a ton of gold in it not spent. gold on a person has always been off limits... but smart move is port the guy with the gold... essentially taking it off the table till they get back. not perfect but still a nice tactic

And if they try to buy goods in EU to make a profit out of their unfortunate spawn location, you can bet your boots they'll get attacked six to eight times trying to get back!

Well, I just did the math, and if you buy here and sell elsewhere at a price of twenty (low for a high-priced fief) and a sales tax of 25% (the highest I've seen thus far, perhaps the maximum), you start turning a profit at a 227% distance bonus. If your destination's tax is as low as 5%, your profits will start at 167%. (Someone point out problems in my math if you don't get the same number, please.)

You don't really have to travel that far to get a 300% distance bonus, so I guess it's only going to make a significant difference if you're buying a lot of goods--you'll be slower and get a much higher margin reduction. So if you're just in the area and need to pick up a hundred goods or so as a second set of no-penalty crates and you'll be traveling half the map or more, there's no reason not to buy them here.

General Discussion / Re: Rating posts?

Your account must be at least a year old, for there is surely no greater responsibility than proper use of post ratings.

I can rate posts, and my account is far younger than a year old... I was able to as soon as I had something like ten renown, or maybe a certain number of posts. (Now, my ratings don't actually affect the renown and infamy of the people to whom I apply it, but at least I can increment that little number over the post.)

Yes, thank you Nords! Most of the attacks (and poorly worded warnings) came from the Coalition, so I guess we can try to take our revenge on their NA counterparts.

Perhaps we should all join the USA_*_AMERICA clan to make sure the brands are even more clear... or will that just lead to attacks out of spite?

Who is going to buy goods at twenty-five gold with a 20% sales tax when so many other factions are willing to make trade agreements to buy and sell at low-price, low-tax fiefs all over the map? (I'm asking in earnest; I just don't know how to word it without sounding incredulous.)

Also Anders, renown is not actually a good thing.  It means you have lost that much money in equipment.  I prefer victories over renown.

It's not what you lost in the battle; it's the total equipment lost in the battle. You can claim a great victory and lots of renown if you force the enemy to lose lots of equipment, and you'll get credit for most of it.

I'll second the complaint about EU spawning. SWF members are always attacked on their return journeys when they have no goods, but the one that was able to sneak some S&D out of a castle before returning somehow managed a safe journey. I think there's more than just a language barrier. I even once received an email (not a PM, and with no return address) warning me about my faction's audacity to be randomly spawned in their territory.

my friends SWF

I'm not sure if we should "d'awwww" and feel a warmth in our hearts or cower in terror for all the Smoothrich-haters on whose shitlists we have now been put.
