They say the mask came from the far lands. Past the elk herders, past the barren white wastes. In a yurt whose pole held the night sky itself aloft. It was not forged, but struck from cold iron that had never seen a flame. It carried a weight beyond its seeming size.
Passed from hand to hand, it trickled south. Eventually a warrior of Calradia found the war mask. Odd, the face of it. Not fearsome, like others he had seen. It was more fearful, impossibly twisted in agony. Still, for the price he paid the thing must surely offer some protection in battle...?
The second it fell upon his head, the warrior was under its spell. His arms moved against his will, slaying friend and foe alike. Weeping blood from the eye-sockets of the mask, the warrior cleaved one hundred and nineteen men into pieces, his blade whistling through the air faster than an arrow.
After the last body fell, he continued his unearthly blade dance. A trumpet from the heavens blared, and the warrior fell among his victims with no wound to be seen on his person.

Well the things is... France has one of the best win/loss ratios of any country in the world when it comes to warfare. I mean... you don't become one of the biggest countries in Europe by being a little bitch.

Well - I propose that a shiled should take as many strikes to break (from a non-'bonus vs. shields' weapon) as it takes strikes from a one hander to kill a heavily armoured opponent.

Words are symbolic to meaning and passion and when you start pulling on those strings chaos breaks out from order. I know I know... Grow a thicker skin right? I would rather see a world where people treat others with respect then everybody just grow a thicker skin and burn crosses in lawns. Being calous *spelling?* is so ugly afterall.

This libertarian ideal is very, very stupid for a well functioning society.
In society there will always be deviant members. Deviance is (among other things) members of visible minorities, homosexuals, emos, nerds, the mentally handicapped, the extremely poor, the physically disabled - the list goes on and on.
Those in society who are not deviant, on a subconcious level, look to segregate themselves from those that they see as deviant - and hate speech perpetuates this by enforcing negative social morays (schema) into the collective conciousness of the society. Because no matter how smart or above 'peer pressure' you think you are - hearing something often enough makes you more prone to believe that thing - it is called classical conditioning and it works on pretty much every animal.
To that end, some speech is actually destructive to the foundations of freedom and equality that our society so highly lauds.

In a free society we are burdened with the nessissary evil of having to tolerate the... darker... aspects of freedom such as bigotry and ignorance. If we were to outlaw these things, we wouldn't exactly be a free society, and that shit would suck.
However.
There is a point where free speech: "I don't like black people." Becomes hate speech: "We should get together and kill all black people."
The line is a blurry one, but incitant hate speech is as much a crime as attempted murder (mens rea, no actus reus) and should be judged accordingly.
