Point is...the katana design is better for cutting, the curved blade, the long hilt for more leverage and power. It's lighter and faster. You can achieve the same result with less effort. Broad sword you have to use too much brute force and get tired quickly. When you're gassed out, you're as good as dead. Bottom line is superior design.

But then again, this is a game forum, most if not all of you ever wield a real sword (not replica) and test anything with it. It makes more sense to pose the question in a sword forum then argue with pretentious know it all fools.

Unless you can find me a video of a broadsword that can do what this katana can. I rest my case.

Most broadsword are much longer and heavier and still can't cut like this katana. Disgrace!

15th century katana is superior to 15th century longsword. Did anyone see the show Deadliest warrior? There was an episode Samurai vs Viking, and a katana cuts through 3 pigs bodies in 1 strike.

Anyway, watch this video, the modern katana chop wood like an ax.

Katana has longer hilt hence better leverage for power strike. Jap Metallurgy are better, folding steel technique to weed out impurity. The curve blade was design to cut better than straight blade, cutting in diagonally. The blade is shorter and stiffer, less flexing when stabbing. Katana clay tempered the edge so the it's harder and easier to cut, while the spine of the blade is flexible and easy to bend.

Nuff said.

The truth will set you free! Katana is superior in every way, not to mention lighter and faster. The devs need to fix the katana, especially the stabbing damage equal to wooden sword is dumb.

General Discussion / New Upkeep sucks for Strength players?
« on: July 20, 2011, 09:24:30 pm »
I'm lvl 31 with 139 wpf in 2h. Build is 28/12, 4 weapon master. My MW highland claymore keep breaking often and cost me 899 every time. So what's the deal, Strength players with less wpf will break their weapons more often then agil player? This is unfair, I'm gonna break the bank if things don't change.

And with higher upkeep cost and less chance of breaking, but does that equal more upkeep overall?
