Hey guys.
Wow. Midway through first battles and lots of lessons learned. I would like to hear what you think so we can do it better next week. Remember this all pretty new to all of us.
15 rounds we'll never get to play but my suggestion is:
10 min per round.
Max total battle time is 1h and 30 min or 1 hour?
Max 15 rounds. 3 map changes.
Medium steppe and NOT large steppe.
-
Maybe reduce the round time? Make it more action packed and fast game play.

Disagreed, we started with 6 minutes at first but it were just draws. Ten minutes is more fun and gives you time to properly skirmish etc. I thought the event went pretty well and I'm sure much is learned.
This was the most enjoyable tourney I've participated in to date, keep it up!

Why are flags not allowed? Forces the battle if dragged out to long. Maybe 6 mins is to short..

Flags are random and therefore have a high probability of favouring one team, like spawning right behind them. Also fighting over flags isnt really fun.

Having them allowed doesnt actually mean they will be used, just knowing that if you dont engage the above will happen might move things along.
-
I think everything went quite smoothly after the round time was increased. Passwording the server is definitely necessary, though, we had randomers joining our team.
-
Yeah, Make it so Tags are required or you must alert the admin that you are playing without tags.
Several non clan players ended up in team 3 and it resulted in Clan members being removed by admins.
Definitely ensure that the time limit is set higher in future as draws should really be avoided.
Other than that all went well and was enjoyable, next time don't mute me you fuckers.
-
I support required tags for next week...
I think it was a bit unorganized and confusing, but considering it was the first battle it went quite well.
-
Aemaelius can u please allow Arked to film it next time? His videos are really nice and clear :P
-
So far it appears to be going well. I was watching the livestream of the other battle and 6mins was deffo to low. 10 mins is much better and very manageable.
However, for future reference, I think if I team had 20 people left and the other has 1, on a horse, then it should be win, not a draw  Spose that's something for the referees to discuss in future. Either that or there were a cases where 1 team had a guy left at their spawn afk and it takes time to find them.
-
I think that if the maps are more flat (those we had were good but still quite hilly), the game will go faster. Either that or increase the timer to 12 minutes. 10 is manageable but not comfortable.
It really went well considering the massive amount of players involved.
Also, at least in team 3, there were a lot of randomers playing, not even on TS. I think we will be more strict with clantags and TS presence next time.
Finally, I'm going to buy a better computer... The wicked 2 frames switching freeze caused my moronic charge at 49:15 on toffi's video  so funny to hear people say "What the fuck ?" on TS though
-
Medium Steppe will solve most of it.

Fasader managed to shot his armored horse before the round ended, so it was a man alone, on foot. No chance of success, and it would have ended in 10sec.
I really felt like we were the one always attacking too, i'm exhausted after walking that much in both maps. :P
The second map was quite hilly too.

True there was a fair amount of camping on one side that was true :P

About the flag thing. If someone can edit the maps for tournament and erase entry points, problem will be solved i guess.
-
Suggestion:
What if we change the size from 75 to 50 players per team tops, this way a load less people crash because it seems to happen often on big wars, this will have more teams and hopefully less language barriers, for example if we have a lot of russian clans partipicating I suggest putting those together so they can properly communicate and let European clans stick together. - This way a commander can focus more on speaking one language instead of needing a translator.
More teams, more battles - with less lag/crashes (EU8 surely was far better than EU_Shogunate_Dojo, I had far more crashes on that one :|)
Could ofcourse be adjusted in various tournaments, maybe an idea?
-
I think the idea of a Huge multi clan tournament is better

Duly noted. But not with this tournament I think.
But I agree that in future tournaments 75 players is too much however epic it is. The game can't really handle it.
We do this to the finish, with the bugs and what not it brings. And take those lessons and carry on to the next event that will be created.
-
Nono, not this tournament, it's going fine so far I think with only 7 crashes, compared to last time 50v50 in shogunate server with atleast 50 crashes.
-
I think 75 players is ok, and now that we done that once, the next battles will surely be better organized and even more epic 8-)
-
Actually I thought it went pretty smoothly for organizing 150 people. I would like the time limits increased so that we have no draws and more time to maneuver. I'd actually like to see the teams increased to 100 vs 100, we had lots of people sidelined, wanting to join but couldn't.
If you keep crashing it's time to buy a new computer, this game is fairly old and not very cpu intensive.

No but it seems to use a crapload of memory, which I appear to run out of very quickly with no other programs on besides Mount & Blade: Warband. :(

This is true actually. I have far far fewer crashes using win7 64 instead of 32 bit. Those extra RAM helped A LOT!
-
Yeah i didn't crash but i had quite bad stutter and almost sure it depends on the ram. Cpu and Gpu usage wasn't too high but i had 97% of ram taken for most of the game (2gb of ram with a e6600 with a radeon 5770).
Maybe i'll just play on my laptop that have better performance and 4 gb of ram. It's more clumsy but buying 4 gb of the expensive ddr2 for this old pc just doesn't sound right :o
-
Haha, i installed another game while playing this battle.
64 bit systems are the way to go + 8 Gb of ram or more.
Server was awful, unable to feint, packetloss etc. Etc. (usually ping around 30 without loss).
Ppl crashed due to faulty c++ libraries and lack of ram.
Idea to do this tournament was great, server issues killed the fun for me...
I think playercount shouldnt exceed 120.
-
Buy more ram. It's cheap
I had no real trouble in terms of lag ect. There was the occasional stutter...but on the whole it went much better from that pov than I expected.

Pfft and I play with 2 gb ram.
-
I played on a spare cheap laptop with 4gb of RAM. Didn't crash a single time, and even the server seemed to run pretty smoothly to me. Try playing on DX7 if you have a crappy pc, it should help.

I think each and every clan should really be responsible for the amount of players they can bring to the battle. Team 3 had constantly around 10 players short than team1 and that's really one of the main reason we lost. I will not point out the particular clan in team3 but...
For example: u signed up for 10 members then u should at least let the team know that you are short of players and need more ppl from other clans to fill up the gap. If u only bring 3 ppl instead of 10 and 12 ppl instead of 20... How the hell do you expect us to win the battle? Even after the shogunate filled up 17 members, team 3 still ended up 10 players shorter than team 1.
This happend also in the previous battle against team4 but it was only the last round. This time this problem appeared in most rounds.
I don't know exactly how can we solve this but i think there should be rules to make this battle more fair and not let some clan overestimate their potential and register too many players, hence letting all the other players down in the team.
-
A new lesson learned. Next time it will be a tournament with a bit less players on each team and only with clans we can trust aka invites. So far it is pretty obvious who can organize a roster of the promised men and who cannot.
-
maybe the grey want to bolster team 2, would you Grey?
-
Grey, mercs what ever...
If there is still some sort of clan alive in team 2 they are welcome to try and recruit a team.
-
Was fun as substitute,
i'd suggest lowering the max armor level and getting reliable teams,
some lags but playable
why did you set templars, weeboos and muslims together ? xD
-

why, why ? thats why (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne7fPpxAnuM)
-
why did you set templars, weeboos and muslims together ? xD
coz we like templars sandwich , weeboos sushi and muslims pizza.
-
And that happens with clans from 2 commands?
-
I think lowering the amount of players per team for the next battles should be considered due to the holiday season.

They want to pretend we all get along, our cultural diversity made us lose!
-
A space marine should be able to command all forms of soldiers, regular or otherwise
-

better to try to manage some substitues or something, otherwise the idea of huge battle goes away again :( and yeah, might be hard to get people during holiday, but still worth a shot :P
-
How hiring mercenaries, that aren't part of any clan?
I'm sure there are enough capable free players out there in cRPG that would love to participate.
They could be tested beforehand, if need be...
