Since all heirloom modifiers were removed i'm looking for a new weapon.
At the moment i'm split between those to use:
Twohanded Sword: massive spamability, decent range, good damage, cheap
Greatsword: great stab damage, good range, decent speed, cheaper than the german greatsword
German Greatsword: great stab damage, very good range, decent speed but costly
Tell me your opinions! Why do you use which 2h weapon?
-
Studded Warclub, makes every kill a homerun.
-
I love my Nodachi. Long, good speed, excellent slash damage and lots and lots of style :P
-
Hmm. I liked my katana, but I'm gonna go with Tempered Katana. I'd prefer a balanced though. Nodachi is okay too.
-
i heirloomed Highland Claymore as after patch it got just as long as german and still deals massive 46 cut (1 heirloom) swing with 92 speed. pre patch I had german/tears for its pierce dmg. best is to pick the one that fits to the toon. i would not get highland if playing a tincan - looks just wrong.
-
Longsword.
Cheap. Fast. Has a stab/thrust. Can be used mounted.
-
Highland Claymore is very good and strong. Better than other Greatswords imo.
-
I went with two handed sword as the "expensive" 2h tough if you have enough heirlooms to make a weapon balanced I would maybe go with great sword.
-
The one and only - Nodachi
-
Miaodao. Stabbing is for sissies.
-
Those high tier 2h sword are all so close together with just minor differences it makes a hard choice.
It really depends only on style now. I think i have to heirloom them all :D
P.S. Stabbing is fun and got the "teammate secure proof"!
-
Longsword, a perfect weapon. Bastard is too short, two-handed sword is too slow.
For RP-ing reasons miaodao, but its a crappy weapon really.
-
For it's raw brutality, I have gone Bar Mace as it really encourages my "Ineptness" :D
-
Powerful Bar Mace (2x Heirloom)
Crushes through nearly everything.
-
Sarranid battle axe, didn't loom it but it fits my "jihad on trolls" theme
I also like the 2 chinese 2 hand sabers dadao and miadao but only for looks
I want to be that huge arab from indiana jones with the giant sword he blasts
I ended up keeping my katana balanced and let my bar mace go heavy from powerful
Lost my flamberges two heirlooms but its looms didn't give speed at all and lost my heavy spiked mace but really no loss there either(as it got slower and heavier which defeated the point of that 100 speed 2h short mace)
-
So far a great diversity! That is a good sign.
Hehe, and i am glad to know Ozwan is using the same weapon as me - a longsword. Ozwan is really shining since the patch.
-
For battles: My lucky bastard sword.
For siege and tunnels: My BFA (big....axe)
-
Longsword, a perfect weapon. Bastard is too short, two-handed sword is too slow.
Well i prefer +2 cut, +4 range of the 2h sword over the +1 Speed of the longsword.
It needs some more testing though :P
-
Longsword.
Cheap. Fast. Has a stab/thrust. Can be used mounted.
Can also be used with a shield good obviously good against ranged.
I got a heirloomed Longsword and it's <good>
The range can feel a bit meh at times. The fact that if you fight other 2handers and polearm users so do they have the distance advantage.
But aslong as you keep close then there are no problems.
-
Love my heirloomed bar mace, no better feeling than knocking down a tin can and then bashing his face in while he's on the ground :D
-
Flamberge! The greatest Kill stealer, People hit that guy, wait for him to put down his shield and bam hit him with a flamberge!
-
Best 2H Weap is the weapon that makes the best duelists and shield nabs tremble in fear.
GREAT MAUL a.KA LOLHAMMER!

Studded Warclub, before thrust was added. Looks evil, and the sound of a hit is just brutally funny :D .
-
I like the Katana and Nodachi for when I'm being a ninja (for looks, but I like them as weapons, too), and I like Danish Greatsword for everything else, because I can't have a katana or a nodachi when I'm not in ninja mode :P
-
Greman Greatsword. Stabbing can be very damaging, if done properly. Great range, nice speed, excellent th weapon.
-
Balanced War Cleaver
Btw the balanced War Cleaver is still unbalanced ;-)
I heirllomed it because it makes me look like a badass
-
Great Sword. Essentially a cheaper German Greatsword, but still brutally effective, especially if heirloomed three times.
-
Katana. great damage, unbelievable fast but very cheap
-
I had a masterwork longsword before patch. I heirloomed it because of the speed and the shield/horse - usability.
It is great, but I would not heirloom it again because:
- I don't need the "usable on horse" function and other weapons are great on horse also.
- It's penalty with shield -> I always had an additional 1h
- mouse functionality. The problem is that the longsword and the additional 1h are configured as "with" and "without" shield together. So I deactivated the shield with the mousewheel to fight with the 2h longsword... later i wanted to switch to 1h with shield because of the situation. Unfortunately the shield is still switched off. So it is an additional step to activate the shield again. If anybody knows a solution for that... pls tell me.
- compared to the other swords the damage is weak
Imho the german and the danish swords are too long and too slow.
I would prefer a high swing damage. That is the normal usage of the sword. Thrust is fine for sure but it is used in different situations/circumstances.
-
Goedendag.
Pointy stick power ftw.
-
I loved Bastard sword and heavy bastard...But the perfect one for me is the long sword. Just as quick as the bastard, but a little longer, deals some more damage and it's much lighter. Great 2H!!! I agree with those who tried it, it's great. I tried the great sword before the long but found it too slow, the additional length wasnt worth it.
-
TWO
HANDED
SWORD
good damage
good length
good speed
every other 2H usually lacks in one of those

-
All the bastard swords and the Claymore.
-
Katana or Nodachi.
I'm such a weeaboo.

but then they lack in other things
twohanded sword has a good balance between each stat
-
For me its my Heavy Bastard Sword. While I do concede the Longsword is a superior weapon, I have been using the Heavy Bastard Sword since Mount&Blade 1 and it is the weapon I feel most confident wielding.
Not to mention it gets a cool scabbard, which matches my awsome looking long dagger perfectly!
-
Imho the german and the danish swords are too long and too slow.
Dude there is NEVER too long :D
-
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
-
The nodachi is good, but i'm also going to try out the flamberge. The main problem with the flamberge is its eccessive cost.
-
Hehe, looks like I'm the only person using Sword of War=) I became so accustomed to it that every time I try to play with another 2h sword I suck like hell... Surely it looks like piece of shit (just imagine: black armour+sword of war... eeeeew! I think I'm gonna puke) but it has nice parameters. Versatile. It's deadly enough but not so slow as Danish and German (difference in real fight is much more noticeable than while looking on numerical parameters). As for Scottish claymore if chadz would increase its speed rather than weapon length I would be absolutely happy. Alas I have to stick to the SoW.
-
I love the Goedendag and the Flamberge, when you're a slow piece of shit the longest 2hander is your friend.
-
German great sword all the way, fell in love with it the first time I started again after the Era of Resets, 7-8 months ago.
But for a substitute, meaning low cost and similar attributes I'd go longsword. Thrust is really powerful for its size and it deals surprisingly high cutting damage. Range is of course gimping, can't go berserk with a longsword due to many weapons outranging it and shielders turtling up as they bulldoze into me.
