Title: 0.5.0.0: Patch of Undestiny

It's been a bit of a bumpy road, but as of now the bugs that plagued cRPG over the summer have all been fixed. The purpose of this patch is to create a fresh start for the mod, or at least to clean up the bloated, rotting corpse of this mod, and reanimate it once more. So, we've reverted back to the pre-Patch of Destiny leveling system, with some tweaks, which should 'normalize' the balance of the game somewhat. For now, the balance changes that have been enacted since PoD will remain, but will be reviewed in time to determine if they are still relevant. Here's the actual patch notes:

Patch notes
Dupre/Professor: Strat has been fixed, battles are no longer frozen, and backlog of battles deleted. Additionally, fiefs now receive production points again, and since that has been broken for some time, the production points of each fief has been increased by 365.
Dupre/Professor: Couching bug on servers running WSE2 has been fixed.
Professor: Nerfed first 5 or so waves of DTV, runs should not generally wipe on one of those waves when there are 15 more to go through.
Professor: Added new DTV wave. (self-indulgent, I know)
Professor: Old maps added back to DTV map rotation, some of the newer ones removed.
Professor/Rico/Weren: New items added into game
Professor: Camel + Plated Donkey buff, slight nerf to bec, slight buff to 2d poke weapons.
Professor: Item difficulties lowered to reflect level revert.
Professor: Levels reverted back to pre- PoD.
Professor: All item pictures added to shop (will be done soon)
Dupre: Gave me support to actually get this shit done. Huge shout out to Dupre, without him I couldn't have done most of this.

I might be missing some things, will add them if I think of them.
Of course, fixes to the bugs produced by reverting levels will be fixed as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the patcher did not do a good job of recording the changes to item stats. That is, one patch only has the old stats, and the next patch only has the new stats. I'll look into getting this into a more readable form relatively soon here.

Diminishing returns on skill points? Like the 1st point in IF gives you 12% more hp, but say the 10th point only gives you 2% more hp. First point in athletics gives like an 8% boost, 10th only 1%. Would make spreading it around more worthwhile since it doesn't take as long to get to a point where things are worthwhile.

That occurred to me, but it's going to be some time before I figure out how to actually do that. All that stuff is probably hardwired to some degree into the engine, so it might be difficult to mess with.

Reset on strat won't come for at least a couple weeks. Considering that we've got players with big shiny armies, we might as well have some big battles with em.

Also, I'll need some time to look into making strat less of a grind, so that we can have big battles more frequently in the future. But resetting strat should be a cinch when we actually do it, since there's a script for it.

This happens when I'm either patching in something, or finalizing a patch, so fairly frequently. The last hotfix should be out in 15 minutes or so.

Is this title change totally new? Because I retired like 3 times at lvl 33 before the patch of destiny.

Also I dont understand what is going on with experience now. I was halfway to level 38, 318 million into lvl 37 with 310,140,501 more needed for lvl 38 now I need 729,424,816 to get to lvl 34 not even close to halfway wth.

only needed 657,830,195 xp to get lvl 38 but now need 1,048,301,160 to get lvl 34.
I was happy that I only needed 310,140,501 for next level, theres no way in hell I am grinding out 729,424,816 more than double that now.

As for titles, think about it like this. The level of your character will change, but the title that can be attained by retiring at that level will not, or it will increase. That is, people who were level 36 could retire and get the title Master. Now, they are either level 32 or level 33, and can retire to get Master, or Grandmaster, respectively. This way, someone who was, like you, close to getting the next title would not be robbed of their progress, and would instead be as close or closer to receiving the title.

So the title for lvl 38 was Grandmaster? Then that means I can get the title I was working towards and needed 310 mill xp for? What about the amount of looms would I get the same amount of loompoints if I retired now as I would have at level 38?

Yes, if you were 310 xp from getting Grandmaster, you should be able to retire for it now. Assuming you are level 33, currently. Loompoints remain similar to old system, 31 gives 1, 32 gives 3, 33 gives 5 or so, and 34 gives (13??). Only titles were changed because that is something that requires a lot of grinding to get.

Well at least this makes it a bit less painful as I was level lvl 37 halfway to 38 before and am now level 33 and less than 1/3 of the way to 34. At least I can get the title before putting crpg to rest.

If that's the trident looking one it's mad old, was part my loadout when I stopped playing. It wasn't sheathable though.

You guys need to add a Polearm and Two Handed skills to the game, something to put points in like shield for 1h players.

Hybrids should want to use 1h weapons for point efficiency.

What would this new skill do? Maybe make each point allow for an effective cap to wpf, make it equal to how much wpf you would have as a pure build, make it based on agi, and at least that way it could still be used by hybrids for a couple points, and won't really impact strength builds for pole or 2h much.

Just an idea, maybe it's shit

The only problem is that this would ruin any hoplite build as they'd need to drop points in both shield and pole skills. Also, 1h without shield is a pretty decent build so if every other class requires more wasted points, they indirectly get a huge buff. Similar ideas have been bounced around before, I personally prefer just letting all shields be 0 req, but that introduces other issues as well. There isn't really an ideal solution.

Yeah, but then if a hoplite's shield breaks or is sheathed/dropped, the polearm user has no pole wpf with which to use their weapon, leaving them in a pretty poor scenario whereas a 1hand shielder who loses their shield will be just fine. Also, while it'd be nice to encourage ranged builds to use 1handers, a change like this will still just make swashbuckler builds pretty strong overall, and tbh even with the current system they aren't all that disadvantaged compared to pure pole or 2hand builds.
