HA! I've got you now! I've just been WAITING for someone to post that so I can autistically charge in and correct someone.
Right so basically in order to obtain even rosters (in terms of numbers, we were fortunately blessed with some really scary heroes), Daruvian, Artyem, Arowaine, myself, and assorted other nerds were absolutely required to begin recruitment at least 2-4 hours in advance of the battle. Not only in this tedious, but mercenaries in this life-supported portion of an already-dying mod are a finite resource. What I mean by that is this; many of our most skilled mercenaries do NOT enjoy NA1 anymore. Some of them don't even really like strat battles. But in order to compete, we were forced to play 10+ people down, or sperg out to these reluctant e-knights every single battle.
And not just the big ones! Hell, we never really got the good chance to have many big ones, anyway. We'd have to sperg out to these poor folks for the shitty 1k+ vs >500 lightly armed troops because the opposition would show tons of people regardless of their gear level.
I'm praying and hoping fervently that the population of the mod will increase or at the very least cease bleeding nerds left and right because of the launcher fix, and indeed because of the dissolution of THE REALM.
But to say that anyone in our faction quit over 3k heavily armed troops being lost is at best an oversimplification, and at worst completely false. Our economy was extraordinarily more lucrative than any other NA faction, I am confident to say. We could've absorbed the blow given to us by higher powers than ourselves rather easily. We wouldn't even be forced to wait around- at least 1.5k heavy/shiny troops could have been equipped and sent out within a day of the server shitting itself.
Our dear former leader had been posting for a week or two about being fairly bored with strat- not something to crucify a nigga over. He'd been completely absent from decision-making and logistics for the same period of time; all coordination had been taken care of by Arowaine, Artyem, Sparvico, and myself. Oh, and I musn't forget the good ERWINGOML for his passion and initiative against HoC fucking shits, current regent Chester's meming, along with Damatacus' brilliant independent moves.

Basically with the coupled dupe-bug and server holocaust, alongside the severe drought of population, he concluded that strategus wasn't at all worth the time, effort, concern, or stress. He didn't see any more benefits to reap.
