Post by: Sir_Hans on November 17, 2015, 07:44:15 pm
Game just launched today, I'm excited!
Looking for some people to play co-op missions and/or multiplayer with... preferably in USA/Canada area to reduce latency/lag issues.

Can find me on steam or origin as "taiyoctopus"

We can do voice chat or not idc.

Game is awesome... already have 2/1 k/d ratio on almost every game... like playing on consoles ez-mode

Only gripe is that it doesn't show ping ingame and as far as I can tell, there is no integrated voice chat.

Good luck with that.

Ok, so maybe I jumped the gun on that...
I totally see what you mean now...
No joke, that game is a complete disappointment

Best part about it, they give refunds if you act fast enough.

I'm interested in how you reached this conclusion so fast, because in previous post just 1 day ago you were talking how awesome it is.

It's probably great at first, but when you get further into it than scratching the surface all of its major flaws and dumbed down features probably shine through. The fact alone that everyone can carry a sniper rifle already put me off the game lol.

That ruined the Medal of Honor reboot. It had some good shooting mechanics but every single person had a sniper rifle.

I'm also curious if there was something specific that ruined it.

This. First post was made after like 1 hour or less of gameplay, while my excitement to be playing battlefront 2 sequel was in full swing.

After about 3 hours in you start to get a grasp on the game, what there is to unlock, the maps themselves, and all the flaws.

11 main weapons to unlock in the entire game. a few pistols, blaster rifles with different fire rates range and dmg, and a single shotgun.
There are accessories and items but they are pretty bland as well and Overpowered... Grenades are unlimited and on a short cooldown, so they are spammed nonstop... The sniper rifle (i forget what it's called) is completely OP, One shot kills w/ body shots on an 18second cooldown... where your normal main rifles take like anywhere from 5-10 hits to kill.
No unique classes like battlefront 2.
Only two races... unlike battlefront 2.
No single player campaign. only like bot matches in really bad game modes with nothing interesting going on.
No galactic conquest.
Only a few good game modes. (walker assault 20vs20, a kind of push/tug of war style capture the objectives map 20vs20, and team death match 12vs12 or something like that.
Only auto-matchmaking, no server lists.
No voice chat.
No ping displayed.
A couple of the maps are very very unbalanced, giving the high ground advantage to one team and making it even more unbalanced by placing these very OP heavy turrets on the high ground... Played a match on that map and a guy went 47 - 0 just by sitting in the turret on the high ground cliff and blasting all the enemies trying to progress up to high ground. Team on the low ground is vulnerable, team on the high ground can peak out from the cliff ledge and shoot at pretty much any enemy on the map and then duck back behind the cliff ledge whenever they want.

The game got two things right... The graphics and the sound FX.
Everything else is terrible imo.

Also I was getting like 2/1 k/d ratio on average... It wasn't like I didn't like the game because I was bad at it... and it also ran great on my system. Had no problems with fps drops or anything in the 40 player matches.

If you want to try the game I suggest you get it for PC... Just make sure you are in the window to get a refund on Origin (I think they say 24 hours from purchase, but I was like 36 hours from purchase and they still gave me the refund.) You will most likely want the refund by the 5 game time hour mark, unless you like really really really like starwars or something and you can look past the gameplay and just enjoy graphics, sound fx, and nostalgia.

It's not even an opinion, it's a fact. I'm glad you got a refund, next time try any EA game in open beta so you don't have to go through refund process :P

These two review sum it up pretty well.

Not surprising, really, it is EA after all.  It's still a major let-down given the greatness of the previous Battlefront games however.  (On that note... Should they even be calling this "Battlefront"?  Shouldn't it be "Battlefield: Star Wars" or something to that effect?)

Yep a major letdown... They could have at least included more content and progression like Battlefield 4... you know tons of weapons, tons of vehicles, tons of attachements for weapons and vehicles... etc... etc...
It would have made the game a lot better imo. One of the main flaws of the game is just the extremely small amount of content... no seperate classes, only 2 factions/races and 11 unlockable primary weapons... it's a joke.

They should call it "Star Wars:A Destruction of Hope".

The part that I dont understand is that what made you even hope in the first place? Its EA, the fcking publisher for Battlefield, CoD and every year the exact same sports games that has a higher number in their title, which is the only excuse to charge another 60 bucks for little to no effort at all. If the developers ever even had the intention to fill it with awesome content, EA probably put the massive breaks on it and in the best case scenario ripped it to overpriced dlcs.

There is absolutely NOTHING, to hope from this publisher. Without any shame they have by now blandified every title they have ever touched. Even the fucking SIMS. Those guys are so shit, they even managed to blandify motherfcking SIMS. Like seriuslly? What? How do you....even? Even their extremely overpriced shameless dlcs are completely baren of content.

How this game could have been great, in two simple steps:

- symmetric spawning
- restricted grenades/sniper

that's just two steps in a staircase of thousand steps, that's how far this game is from being great

I would maybe add :

- the health regen system = heals you from 1 to 100 HP after like 5 seconds of no damage, in maybe 2 seconds tops. Casual at its best.
- the vehicle/hero/special items spawn system = thanks to spawning randomly, anyone can play vehicles/heroes and its easy to restock your on ace cards. But since you can hardly predict where, pubbers just inc and grab it because its shiny and do random shit and die, with no real decision making or underlying strategy.
- the unlock system/lack of class system = completely unbalanced, you want people to be able to play different roles with different stuff, not play enough time so that they unlock the best gear and be the rebel/stormtrooper forever, making the game stagnant.

I've played the BETA and for me the game was tons of fun for hours long, only playing one gamemode. Not to add, fucking beautiful with high constant FPS on my 4yo PC. This game is the best graphic/optimisation game ever.
The spawns and grenade/sniper spam is really whats making the "end game" horrible, when you know the maps and your actual chance of success in most situations. You want to become master of the field thanks to your experience, but the game forces you to be just a guy in a star wars meat grinder. You will always get one shotted or grenaded from time to time, there's no real way you can survive and feel your character for more than a minute (when you do, its a thrill!).
If you're okay with arcade its a really great game though, especially if you love Star Wars.

EA games are like incredibly, marvelously beautiful boxes with literally nothing inside, that cost 100+ euros to be complete, why the fuck are you even bothering ?

You gotta be either naive or fucking retarded to expect anything from EA, Overkill, or any other shitty publisher. Hell, even Tripwire introduced microtransactions in KF2 and confirmed there will be DLCs. It's a problem in gaming. I just wish, I just fucking wish chadz won't do that to MBG, ever. Just making an empty game, filled with overpriced DLCs and microtransactions, is enough for me to hate the ones who did it.

I tend to agree with all the above posts, but now (two years after release) BF4 is actually pretty good especially if you can get it with the premium for around $25.  I wouldn't be surprised if  SW:BF turns out to  be really good and reasonably priced 2 years from now as well.

I like BF4 also, lots of content, so many weapons, so many attachments for weapons, so many vehicles and vehicles are even customizable. Near endless progression to the point where I never see myeself unlocking everying... EVER. good graphics, decent sound, haven't run into any hackers lately. Gameplay is fun. although singleplayer campaign sucks, Battlefield games have never been about singleplayer imo...
It's true the SW: Battlefront could grow into something much better with new DLC, it definitely crossed my mind... and maybe if it gets good reviews in the future after 3 or more DLC's have released and once the price has dropped I will give it another shot but as a standalone $60 game it is such trash. It honestly feels like a game demo... such an astoundingly small amount of content and very little attention to map balancing.

Hans I don't understand why you even bought it in the first place. It sounds like you didn't watch any review of the thing.
This is true... I just saw "New battlefront game" and clicked buy with high hopes.
I liked battlefront II a lot <3
Only after I purchased it and began playing it and found it kind of weak, I went and saw what reviews it was getting.
