Put your pc on a raised desk and stand in front of it. Sitting is one of the worst things for your back.
Ok, my back has convinced me to invest in a new chair for PC gaming and spending hours on a PC...http://www.dxracer.com/us/en-us/product/1/pc_gaming_chair/
I've been looking around at reviews on amazon, youtube, google but none of them really seem like thorough/ trustworthy reviews... The majority of them seem like the company doing the review was given chairs by the chair manufacturers and in return the companies gave the chairs good reviews so they would send them more free chairs in the future OR it seems like the chairs they are reviewing only fit people within a certain size...
So I come to you, my beloved community of qualified, freedom loving, unbiased, free thinking chair purchasers and sitters of chairs... Drop some steamy knowledge upon thy chest so that I might become more enlightened.
I'm aiming to spend around 300$-400$ (or less) but might be persuaded to go as high as 600$ max for something that caresses my backside with the tongues of 1000 virgins or a similar feeling.
Also I have a small frame... 5'7'' (yes I'm a midget) and an average build.
Has anyone spent a good deal of time finding the right chair? What worked for you? How much you spend? How much of a difference did you find between your expensive chair and your former cheapy office swivel chairs?
I love you all, lets hold hands as you lead me gently into the land of office chair enlightenment....

You think these people complain about their back problems? Coincidence? I think not.

Not bad we like it(click to show/hide)
Sitting is completely fine and natural, it's just that the official "how-to-sit" recommendations are NOT natural, like so:

How would this even have evolved into being a comfortable and natural position to sit in? Humans would have done a whole lot of sitting in the ancestral environment, but where and when would they sit like in the above picture?

Plus humans never sat for 8-10 hours per day until they invented offices.Yes they did. Look at any animals. The vast majority of the time is spent sitting around.

And lastly: if you want to go for the quick pill instead - from my corporate slave times I remember those chairs with no back and where your knees are not forced into a right angle, but are bent...("kneeling chair", like the original balans http://www.amazon.com/Variable-Furniture-Original-Kneeling-Crimson/dp/B008VL977C) This type of chair emulates a healthy kneeling/squatting posture and keeps your back engaged and upright. Was the most comfortable type for me back then.

PS they're squatting, not sitting. Plus humans never sat for 8-10 hours per day until they invented offices.

Not having back/arm rests is exactly the point, they are part of the problem, rarely a solution... :DGenau. Arm rests are often not ergonomically correct, I had to displace my old office chair for this very reason, as they put a strain on my elbows and shoulders.
At work, my department rotates positions on the hour. One hour at the front desk (standing), one hour off-desk (walking around), one hour back desk (sitting). I'm never sore at the end of the day.
When I'm at home at my computer desk, I get up now and then to stretch or do some light exercise. You can have a $25 Walmart chair and be fine if you stay at least a little bit active. It's really easy when you're playing any kind of game like CRPG with "rounds." When you're dead just get up and stretch. Do some body weight exercises. Spend 10 bux on a dumbbell and do curls.
Online shooters and MMORPGs have lots of downtime while you are dead/travelling. It's super easy to fit some exercise in there while you wait. You don't need to do a full workout, just get active for 30 seconds before you plop your but down and pwn noobs for another 15 minutes.
If you're browsing internet or doing office work, you have no reason not to get up and move a little now and then.
It costs more willpower but costs less money! Buy an "acceptable" chair instead of a perfect one and just move you'are body!!!!
How many hours per day do you actually stand use a kneeling chair while on a computer, on average?
Sure standing is best for your back, If you keep good posture, but do you really stand or kneeling chair while doing work/play on a PC for hours??? Be honest!
my 75$ costco chair is shit :/ worse than others I've purchased for less in the past...
lumbar lordosis master race
Ok well for all of you preaching standing desks or the ergonomic kneeling chairs: answer me this...I argued for a motor-driven desk so you can raise it at will, you shouldn't get a standing desk only.

Something tells me you guys are doing more of a "do as I say, not as I do" approach to this.
