Title: Freaking ads
Post by: Alvin_the_Chipmunk on May 10, 2015, 08:38:06 pm
Ah, it feels good not to be muted...

Anyway, ads are going crazy on my Chrome these days. As I was using cRPG.net, a video on Body Wash appeared at the bottom-right corner of the screen, followed a by a Pop-Up of Nova Genesis in another tab, then another pop-up in another window for Playzuu.com.

Freakin ads.

EDIT: Even some words in this post are highlighted in blue and when clicked will open another window

You know, you shouldn't click and accept everything on those porn sites.

Afaik, the website uses Google ads and Chrome is, well, Google's browser. During the brief period of time I used Chrome, I realized that it does its best to expose you to Google ads. No running away from it. Chrome even gave me a nasty adware called Bettersurf, which was a bitch to get rid of, even though my computer is well protected.

Conclusion: Get another browser. Ideally get Firefox. Install the Adblock addon. Or if you want to have full control, you can add NoScript too. These will give you a fine ad-free experience. But note that the latter (NoScript) takes a little time to get used to, as you will have to spend some time allowing and restricting background website connections. But just Adblock will work nicely. You can just install it and say goodbye to ads forever. No further action required.

Or just use adblock on Chrome.

Or just use adblock on Chrome.

I didn't know it was available for Chrome (is it?). But I will still stay away from Chrome. It turns out I don't like it one bit after trying it for a brief while. Maybe you guys may think I just can't break the habit. However, I tried all available outstanding browsers for a reasonable period of time and I am more comfortable with Firefox than with any other.

I'm not telling you to switch browsers, I'm saying that your advice is invalid because Adblock is available to Chrome and none of that happens then.

Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah.

The adware just appeared one day. For some reason it's gone now. Pop-ups stopped, no more highlighted blue words.
