Nah,but if they create an extra thread to show them off,I would expect it to be a little special.

I like the texture work on the helmets ... they look pretty lively :]

Nice colours, the mail seams under the arms and at the back of the leg are strange though.

The one at the back of the leg also leads me to wonder how he gets those leggings on, unless they're assembled ring by ring in situ.

omg amateurs

you have no idea how hard it is to make realistic colored metal textures, and this is just spot-on perfect

please, finish at least one item for any game before you spill such nonsense

Like the quality of maile texture, dislike the fact its flat like in Warband. Like it is leather with maile print, not the actual ringed maile armor over gambeson.

The little nicks and scratches on the helmets are perfect. The body armor could use a little bit of wear and tear to match.

Seems like the little nicks and scratches on the helmets are all perfectly diagonal, not that I find this an issue, I am just curious as to why that is? Can you not just draw a scratch in any direction?

omg, someone that dislikes my opinion, lets call zhe police...

bla bla,I can imagine how hard it is-trust me,Ive tried it before...they look very nice, thats true, but you didnt understand what I wanted to say: We already have similar ones in cRPG,so these arent "special" and i would like to see something that we dont have here already...

and,if you really want me too,I can sure create some crappy minecraft item for you when Im at my PC later...

The item selection in M:BG is gonna be more narrow than in cRPG anyways, because Asian items are most likely not going to be included (cf. weeaboo armors, ninja stuff, Da Song mod items, -dao family). Not saying there will be less items overall, but nothing will stand out like a sore thumb. In cRPG, Tydeus is already careful about the 15th-16th century policy. Zimke is even more concerned about historical accuracy.

Zimke makes insanely high quality models, but don't expect him to reinvent the wheel. I am happy with items that are high resolution, rich in detail and overall well-made. Filtering out stuff which doesn't fit makes the playing experience more consistent. If you want to see something you haven't seen anywhere before, take a closer look at the 360-combat system, how the physical weapon does the blocking rather than a matching attack/block direction combination and the Stronghold mode.

I believe it's because of the shape of the helmet. The scratches are in the direction the helmet would deflect the weapon.

Everything we make, since late summer should be PBR. :) Also, zimke does textures, not so much models. Though textures also has a kind of shape to them in the form of normal maps, which can come from high poly models, other 2d tricks and/or both. Usually both.

Never asked that question. are you going to have any norse/viking stuff?

I know they were on a decline in 13th century but they were still there. Also they share quite a bit of similarities with northern Rus states.

There's a few things on the drawing board, weapons & armor pieces that still persisted throughout the 13th.

Are there plans to make heraldic versions of all of these items? Maybe with more pattern options than in c-rpg, so players can choose which elements of their arms are displayed and to some extent how.

eg. I'm blazoning a red donkey on a black and white background, my surcoat could be just black or just white or both of them as on the shield or as above but tiled, then I could have a big donkey or lots of little donkeys or no donkeys. Looking at knights arrayed in heraldic armour, they had quite a bit of artistic freedom, so it would be nice to see that in the game.

I think this is a really good idea. Being able to customize your armor within the constraints of ~your heraldry~ or ~your king's banner~ would let people be unique while still pretty historically accurate. People love to customize the shit out of their little fighty sword man. Being limited by your heraldic icons/colors would also prevent people from making rainbow/porn/unrealistic banners like what has happened with crpg clan banners.

Obviously you want to have most of the armor done before you start making a heraldry system to slap onto the armor, but it would be awesome to see something like this show up in the finished game.

We have something around those parts in mind. It'll all be very simple and basic to begin with (if even implemented at Alpha, might just be some super basic thing), but otherwise that's about what we're thinking of, plus possibly having dyes for armor pieces, the latter is still on the drawing table.

For the end result, customization is going to be a big big feature for the game :)

Oh, and while we're at it ... Can we hope to see some cool female armors in not to far future too ? I mean, there where alot of real medival female warriors ... thats pretty much confirmed :3

I actually can't wait for the oldmy old friends to meet again into MBG, put those armors on, and rebuild from ashes all the epicness of the massive cRPG battles at the time it had 200 players. I'm even ready to bet some armors will look like some current armors, and these players will recreate their old armor set  :)

some parts (metal plates, helmets look great), some textile parts and especially chainmail (ultra clean) imho need a bit of additional touch.

Right now Zimke has made a selection of historical flags, but I'm pretty certain that down the road we will support heraldries in one form or another, since player and faction customization is important.

I also animated those flags that zimke made back in February:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/486399/flagtest_2015_20001-0062.avi (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/486399/flagtest_2015_20001-0062.avi)

For now they will be these simple (But simulated) looping animations. But eventually we want to have a more advanced system, perhaps incorporating wind direction and strength, and a very different way of animating them.

And they will of course not be all waving in sync like there. That's just from Blender as a test presentation. It works in game, but not imported yet though.

You can't use the physic engine for this ?

Well thats the plan eventually, but physics in waving flags is not high on the priority list, so I made this so we have something in between. (Grass and trees moving are done with other tricks. Not physics.)

A general thought about armor/player models:
it appears to me that the armor is too tightly fitting especially around the ankles and wrists. I think it should be way bulkier to look realistic.
You have to realize that they wore padding underneath the chain mail.

and even more so:

To me the "real versions" look a bit silly.
Also who cares about if something looks realistic or not. You don't see people in mail armour every day, no one knows what is realistic and not :D

Armor should look like armor and not like skin tight leggings. To me this is immersion breaking.

Proves my point. Compare the ankle width.

Also this photo isn't even realistic. He doesn't wear any padding underneath the mail. A strike to the leg would simply break his bones.
