How the hell does one enforce this? Dumbest idea I've seen yet

People are too fucking sensitive

you enforce it like this
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/29/peter-nunn-jailed-abusive-tweets-mp-stella-creasy
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/twitter-trolls-isabella-sorley-and-john-nimmo-jailed-for-abusing-feminist-campaigner-caroline-criadoperez-9083829.html
If you think you can issue death threats and rape threats just cuz its online doesn't count well think again ^^
The police would become involved if you bombarded someone with letters threatening to rape and kill them or phoned them multiple times screaming insults and threats why would the internet be any different? Bottom line is if you have the bollocks to say it in rl dont say it online :P and if your not spending most of your time issuing death and rape threats then you probably wont be effected by this law

yeah im sure if someone was sending your mum msgs that he is coming to rape or kill her you would tell your mum to not be so sensitive

The ridiculous amount of man-hours needed to peruse even a single day's output of death and rape "threats" from the net makes this prohibitory anyways. How the fuck can you possibly judge what is and isn't a real "threat"? You know the volume of "threats" that are made against even minor celebrities on the net? Are you going to monitor online games and mark down everytime PussySlaya666 tries to be an edgy retard? Stupid fucking idiots backing this don't seem to realize how abusable and arbitrarily unenforceable the law is. Anyways, This is all leading to the eradication of anonimity online, or at least yet another attempt by government to control the unruly chaotic wildlands that is the internets. They'll suceed eventually of course, if not with this then another blatant emotional appeal.
Also, HAHAHAHAHAHA CAROLINE CRIADO-PEREZ. JUST FUCKING LOL.

Its impossible to stop human nature, but don't tell that to the anti bullying crowd. All that matters to do-gooders that make laws like this are their "good intentions". You can't break through to them logically, I've tried.

Another win for UK. Got bored of internet anon thing, I think it's time to take off masks and show ourselves. Those who are strongly opposed are weakest links, people who hide because they have something to hide. Privacy is one thing but abusing the system (internet) to try to convince everyone you're something you're not, is entirely another thing. Not saying I'm not guilty of "twisting facts" and that I shouldn't be convicted for trolling but frankly, I'm sick of random twats hiding behind anon and changing accounts like socks.

Say that to a caveman.
-
There's nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide, of course. And the main objective of tying internet identity to RL identity is totally about protecting the poor traumatized victims of trolling. I forgot how dumb you were. Still, there's something to what you say. I can't wait to parade around your autistic retarded face and entire life story whenever you open your dumb gob to spoud stupid shit on subjects you know nothing about.
And if you believe there are any ingrained psychological and mental differences between a "caveman" (i.e any homo sapiens for at least the last tens of thousands of years) and humans today you don't understand biology.
-
I know what it is about and I support their cause.
I can't wait to parade around your autistic retarded face and entire life story whenever you open your dumb gob to spoud stupid shit on subjects you know nothing about
As you witnessed last time, you can only anger me. Without us being so apart and mostly anon, this feud would end just like a bar fight. Only reason why you're able to shit on people's faces without serious repercussions is because internet anonymity provides you that. No wonder you clutch so hard to it, not willing to let it go.
If similar law go through in France, you can bet I'll act like a good little snitch and provide your government with a proof of you breaking that law. Would even travel to France as a witness in your case.
-
Haha, internet warriors strike again.
-
Oh man, what a joke of a case. He had a joke of a lawyer and a joke of a judge, the "victims" of this didn't even bother to come to court, there was no chance of a judicial ruling that wasn't a political scrap of bone thrown to those dogs who wish to be celebrities without the side effect of that: in any other country this would be accepted as what it is: nutcases write shit to celebrities. This is law in unenforceable, unreasonable, and inpractical, and the sentence handed down was literally a political gift.
England man... sometimes I love it, but everyone has had to accept that for the last 200 years it has been a ever increasing police state. We passed the point when the Bank of England could have people incarcerated at its beck and whim (that WAS only 30 years ago, don't forget), but damn if we don't still try to ban freedom of speech and thought.

Very naive. Oh i have nothing to hide, let me entrust you with all my information. Good thing this way of thinking is rightfully in the minority.

Most people don't know about places like 4chan but if they did, they would certainly try to lock it down. It is not minority. With that attitude you're minority in your own country, which revolves around catholic values.
Reading stuff some people write on the internet gives you an impression things are the way they are not. You can protest all you like but your freedom to take a dump on the internet will be slowly taken away from you, just like it was in public places.
-
Really Leshma, 4chan? You arent anonymus on 4chan btw, your info is forwarded to the authorities at their request. The point is the various acts (CISPA, SOPA, PIPA) that are trying to pass congress which the mayority of sensible people rightfully fights. Its alarming that the goverment is trying to get more tools for censorship and more access to any and all information about people. And once it becomes standard in the US it becomes standard in the world. I cant believe we are even having this discussion. And its people like you with the:
You can protest all you like but your freedom to take a dump on the internet will be slowly taken away from you, just like it was in public places.
statements that are bending over and willingly letting them fuck you right in the ass. Well, excuse me if im not having it. Given the history of the balkans you would think that you would detest censorship and the curbing of anonimity and free speech....
-
Don't want to sound like Tovi, but I've yet to see successful protest that was organized by people who actually care about the issues they are protesting against. And not some 3rd party folks who have their own agenda (money). The more we progress on technological plan, it becomes harder to fight the power. I'll gladly go and protest if there is a way how to win. Problem is I can't see how.
Snowden is good example, man fucked beyond repair. Stuck in Russia which isn't known for protecting liberties of their own citizens and working against his own government which would hang him in a second. And things he's saying, we're pretty much fucked beyond repair as well.
New generation will grow up, they'll take Facebook for granted and won't grown upon what they and government does to them. It will become something we like to call "normal".
If I can't beat them, I'll join them.\

First of all, my country isn't heading towards some dystopian Brave New World shithole like UK.
Secondly, I would gladly say the same things to your face. In fact I believe I offered to meet up if you ever passed by Paris, and you implied that I was "threatening" you.
Thirdly, if you think anything I said to you on the net is in any way illegal, wow. You are truly a complete fucking idiot. Sorry Leshma, pointing out you're a broken autistic fuck who can't logic wouldn't be illegal even then.
I've never done anything on the net that would be considered illegal (except tbf pirate some movies and games). Tell me, how much stuff have you pirated Leshma? How many shows/movies have you streamed? Have you ever watched any porn at all? Step away from your narcissistic self-centered whiny victim narrative for one second and try to think about the consequences of net anonimity dying.
-
Thirdly, if you think anything I said to you on the net is in any way illegal, wow.
Of course not. But your online attitude, is very poisonous. Not saying you're the only one. Can name at least another 10 members of this community with similar attitude.

Your schizophrenia kicking in again?
From my perspective your evidence-free, feelings-based form of arguing is poisonous to rational discourse. You may be bland and unaggressive (and literally insane), but your idiocy poisons logic. I could think of another 10 members of this community with a similar attitude. I wouldn't try to use government force to silence them though, because I'm not a fucking authoritarian coward shill. Who the fuck made you judge and jury of what is "appropriate" speech?
-
This is just the mass-hysteria that the UK public loves
Yes, yes it is. UK loves itself some fabricated moral panics. THINK OF THE CHULDREENS/and women. Condescending as fuck to consider women as frail and defenseless as if they were children, but it's par for the course for moral outrages. A man was threatened with death on the net? Business as usual. A woman was threatened with death on the net? EVERYTHING IS MISOGYNY. A child was threatened with death on the net? THINK OF THE CHULDREENS. (rerailed like a boss)

Currently it isn't illegal. If it becomes illegal... then previous post applies.

You're damn right about that. Me, you, Xant, Panos, that lombard guy, BlindGuy, Bjord, Umbra fellow... we're all poision to this or any community. Reason why are we here is because we're allowed, not because we're awesome. There is plenty communities on world wide web which would instaban such "colorful" characters on sight.
Question for you, do you do this anywhere else on the internet?
Edit2: Take Gnjus for example. Have you noticed how moderate he has become? That is because he suffered like 20 mutes in 3 months before dropping a ball little bit.
-
Point out anything I've said about or to you that would be considered illegal under that ridiculous law. Go ahead, I can wait. Calling you a schizophrenic idiot doesn't apply, sorry. Being "poisonous" according to the gospel of Saint Leshma the Transgender wouldn't be illegal, even though that's obviously your primary interest.
There's plenty of places on the net that are nothing but censoring "safe space" hugboxes where people go to have their own views spouted back at them and validated. Is that what you like, Leshma? Confrontation and argumentation bad, circlerjerking good?
-

I'm not sure do you recall, but I've started calling you back not because you were twat to me but because you started doing the same do other people. While it was only me, I ignored you for the most part. And whole thing started as I explained numerous times before, because I called you chocolate chip cookie. Which you proved to be true and that is probably the reason why you got so worked up.
Edit: After all, only people I ever had a fight in this community revealed themselves as being nationalist pigs. For some reason Mercenaries clan likes those kind of people.
-
Ah there we go, I was wondering when we'd get to the part where you rewrite the past so you appear as selfless heroic martyr. Suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous insults to defend others from my evil poison, so brave. I'm sure you can pinpoint exactly when this was, of course, and link to it? Since it's very obviously something that happened and not a justification you just cobbled this very moment.
Nationalist = chocolate chip cookie. Well shit, I guess the world is just full to the brim with chocolate chip cookies. chocolate chip cookies everywhere!

There's zero need for new legislation. Stalking and harassing online is well within the reach of current laws.

That's because it has nothing to do with that, that's merely the emotional appeal du jour.
-
To be honest the constant attempts by the general populace, the government and the mainstream media at making the online world like the real world are cringeworthy at best. As a computer scientist, it's downright appaling. As a sociologist, it's downright fascinating.
I also find it mildly worrisome, as all things considered anonymity is one of the pillars of democracy.

Agreed. The saddest part here is that advocates of anti trolling/anti bullying legislation actually believe they're helping others by denying reality. Its on the level of a mental disorder and should be studied.

afaik the legislation just raises the maximum jail term to 2 years.
(note i dont give a crap about any right you think you have to be anon and abuse people neither do i really care for the other side im just posting why i think they are making the decision)
As for anonymity being a pillar of democracy sure your votes are anonymous but why do you think you have a right to say whatever you want to whoever you want anonymously? That has never been a major part of our culture afaik. Me and Heskey seem to have differing views on stuff but like normal people we can post and discuss them without making new secret accounts to threaten each others families ^^
Anyway its not like they are cracking down on random trolls or 99.9% of retards who use fake names on twitter so they can post opinions they are ashamed of :P. They are not going to go "ooh leshma and oberyn are mean to each other arrest them"
Most of the people who have been targeted by the police have been long term stalker style abusers, If they had been sending threatening or stalkerish phone msgs the police would become involved too, Sure the police will make mistakes or go over zealous sometimes but that's why we have defence lawyers, the internet isn't some hallowed ground where anything goes. Hell Sky news confronted one women and she committed suicide because people found out the kind of sick shit she was saying.
If you cant put your name to your words and opinions then they are worthless. I will stand by my opinions on Europe etc if asked what i wont do is make a new account on a website to say them because i fear what people will think about me :D
Not that i care either way tbh it wouldn't bother me if some coward was trying to threaten me online and im not fighting for a side im just explaining the decision :D. liberal and pc tards are already trying to suck any kind of humour out of life with their screams of racism and sexism at every opportunity and id rather they focused on this <3

For fucks sake, this 43 years old dude has personalized action man figurine (http://www.firebox.com/product/5300/Personalised-Superhero-Action-Figures)... they even wear similar clothes. He might not be guilty of possesing forbidden weaponry, but he certainly is one fucked up individual.

This can justify literally anything, though. Good luck having to rearrange your life in order to get a compensation. It's like saying "I'm buying this shit product but there's a warranty so everything is fine".

I was expecting to read that the police had beaten and tasered that man and maybe even shot his toy dog...then I realized it was a different country.

This thread was a good early morning toilet read, made me drop a brick (that was too solid due to too much meat yesterday) easy.
If this laws would kill threads like this and Oberyn/Leshma duels I say fuck em and their law!

Weak troll, but made me reply so 4/10

Well, there's a debate to be had because clearly no solution is going to make everyone happy. Slippery slope arguments work both ways, sure, but I can't see why exactly is 2 years in prison better than 3 or 6 months. Better yet, out of the 3 people that this might impact, they will still not actually go to prison (or so I assume)?

Fuck off Leshma. What gives you or anybody else the right to determine somebody's "attitude" on the net? What a half assed, Orwellian wet dream that is. I just love how somebody gets sand in their crotch about someone else's "attitude", not acts mind you, and tries to get laws passed to make that illegal.
-
Well, Britain just got REALLY boring...
