Post by: Artyem on August 28, 2014, 03:41:50 am

The videos can be relatively irritating, but it's still pretty awesome.

I might get my hands on an Oculus for free in a few months. The anticipation is killing me.

OP showing off something that belongs to the past. Now, take a look at your future:

As for game support, they'll come I guess...

That's kind of dumb. It's just VR with motion control. In most of my games I don't want motion control.

That's like saying that Rift is just another VR. It is but it's so much better that makes it actually usable. Same goes for Leap Motion. There were cyber gloves in the 80s/90s, now there is Kinect but LM is the first motion tracker that has fidelity and response needed.

It's very simple and small, which means that it can be integrated in current version of Rift. That may become an issue if Facebook find a way how to make Rift significantly smaller but I bet this thing can be simplified further.

To become full VR experience, Rift needs full head tracking capability (needs another camera at the back) and needs motion tracker. Maybe even different design so it can be used as reality augmentation device and not just closed virtual reality headset.

No it's not. I want VR and I don't want motion control, usually.

I hope it's true because that's really what motion controllers need.

Went as a tech specialist to a VR media event and had a go of Morpheus on Castle with 2 motion controllers, using xbow, dual wielding swords, was lots of fun! Spoke to one of the Sony designers about M&B and he knew it, I told them to make something like M&B for Morpheus :)
