We just got rekt in a town map by Cav. As far as I know, bump slash is still in full effect. To prove my point even more, I was a polearm and San destroyed me as a 1H Cav shielder. GG Crpg, cav still major op.  I still love the game though.

Tried one map with ACS heavy cav (lol) and didn't notice much of an issue vs ranged. It did prevent me from 1shotting more often, but I still got quite a few bump slash kills from wounded enemies.

It's definitely a nerf against melee, but ranged still need to watch out. Half damage will still deal a good 60-70%+ against them and lower against melee with decent armor (glanced on a few guys with heavy helmets, which is good). I think ranged will need to upgrade their armor a bit to avoid the 1shots.

My performance since the patch. This will get cut by half in the long run more likely than not. Bump slash nerf is well needed and damage imo may need to be reduced a little bit more.

That depends on how many bamboo spear users dealt 66% damage to your horse in one hit. I had the same hesitation because I believe its speed helps balance out its poor power and it's really cheap, but I eventually acquiesced. 25p would only do so much even with the extra damage (which is only an extra 10-15 damage on average, an extra 10% off a horse's health).

Been playing with a longspear for the past couple of hours, i dont feel the 'bonus vs Cav', still takes 3 hits to kill an Arabian Warhorse and more for any other. Still prefer a poleaxe to take down cav, at least i can 2 shot the horse with a side swing.

Bamboo never made much damage. Stopping cav was it's primary purpose. But since every toothpick can stop horses now, it kind is obsolete.

yeah we need some old maps in rotation with the actual ones, i miss freedom on map.... invisible walls everywhere, and now the only way to win is ""SHIELDWALL"", on most of actual map , ranged players have usually something like 5 second( mb less) free/safe shots by rounds.

i had so much good time on old maps im really for some in the dtv rotation =))

Tested it quickly yesterday with my +3 pike and a rouncey took one full speed hit in the face and two on the legs and rode away. Heavy cavalry most likely laughs at my damage. Bonus should be even bigger if devs want pikes to be an anti cavalry weapon. Against infantry it's arguably still a bit too strong.

It will outshine the long spear in group fights though. The extra 55cm is huge and you'll notice it in organized battles in Strategus. It's not easy to use though and I'm not very good with it myself, but still it feels a bit too effective when you poke enemies three meters away through a wall of teammates with no worry in the world. What I meant to say was that if it's buffed against ca-val-RY, a small nerf to the overall damage could be needed, so it's better against horses, but worse against infantry and not good at everything.

i see your point but the fact is, it is good only in one situation: having many teammates next to you; it's a support weapon, it is meant to be powerful in big clashes, but as soon as you're left behind a bit or you're focused by ranged/throwers/shielders/backstabbing cav you'll notice it is not as good as people think it is. and again it's 300 long and can stop horses, so i wouldn't say it would need much of a buff for it. i think it should be untouched but i realize i wouldn't be impartial on this matter :d

I'm glad Conquest is getting some love again, since I still believe it has the potential to be the superior game mode (combining the best aspects of siege and battle without the worst aspects of either). The Siege Camp spawn on the Helm's Deep map last night was a glorious bloodbath for like 20 mins straight; cav crisscrossing through the camp, melee hiding in tents to surprise the cav, archers raining down arrows, bodies piled high around the campfire; good times. However, the current multiplier system is still not a good fit with the game mode. If we must have a multiplier system, why not start defense at x5 and offense at x1, but offense gains a multi when they cap a spawn (and defenses loses a multi)? That way, the rewards would actually be tied to good tactics. On certain maps/team makeups, offense has zero chance to win the map, but they should still have a chance at decent rewards for capping some spawns.

The current system just encourages people to leech if they happen to have an x5 when conquest pops up, but they have to go. Your prior multi from a siege map shouldn't have any bearing on your conquest rewards.

I was there for this as well. God i hadnt had so much fun on "siege" in a long time.

I doubt that bamboo spear hoplites are going to become the flavor of the month. At +3 a bamboo spear does 28p damage. The ashwood pike does 33p damage. Flat bonus damage to all hits its better than doing extra damage to horses, IMO. The majority of things you will be stabbing are humans, not horses. And if you are carrying a polearm of any kind, enemy cav will avoid you like the plague.

I'm still going to pick up a +3 bamboo or long spear when I get a chance. Haven't used either in a long time, and the bamboo spear is a lot of fun as a 2d polearm (no shield). The reach on those overheads is hilarious.

To everyone that is complaining about needing a ton of hits to kill cav, what the fuck, dude??? I am a pretty heavy hitter but anyone can deal massive damage from speed bonuses if you are stabbing a horse coming at you full speed. Unless you have enemies nearby or retarded teamates blocking you, there's free hits on the horse afterward as well. No shield can protect the horse's nose, toes, or back flank. Beat that thing like a .... dead horse.

Conquest is basically a improved version of siege, how can you say it sucks?

- Perma x2

- You can choose where you want to spawn in different areas

- Upkeep comes at end of round (some maps have like 30 min)

- New siege interface (You can check where you allies are and where the enemies is, it also tells you where to defend and attack)

- Required more strategy and team work, a team without teamwork will definitely failed in this mode.

- there are conquest maps that don't have a limit of 30 min round time

above all conquest is definitely better than normal siege.

Alex, I'd agree with you, but NA sidge is essentially dead. There are also quite a few bugs with it, such as selecting the spawn, points. It's fine as an alternative, but not as the main stay, imo. Also, you're stuck with the multiplier for the whole time, which has benefits and negatives [maybe if you could relate the multiplier to flags captured? and do something for defense's mutliplier]. NA sidge having 8vs8 or so is commonish so one or two good players on attack just slaughters the game mode.

I like conquest but I still think the rounds are too damn long. Not sure if it's possible to fix that without breaking something else.

Also, the game should definitely choose a spawnpoint automatically when one of the spawnpoints is captured.

Conquest is basically a improved version of siege, how can you say it sucks?

- Perma x2 - I'll give you that.

- You can choose where you want to spawn in different areas - Spawn selection is limited (by design). Sometimes buggy on attack and you can't select spawn point at all.

- Upkeep comes at end of round (some maps have like 30 min) - 30 mins of play? Guaranteed everything will break, yay. Also see issues re complaints about getting stuck on shit multis for 30 ins

- New siege interface (You can check where you allies are and where the enemies is, it also tells you where to defend and attack) - See spawn selection (?)

- Required more strategy and team work, a team without teamwork will definitely failed in this mode. - NA, no siege players, no team.

- there are conquest maps that don't have a limit of 30 min round time - Jona wrote a good post about this I think.. not good with long conquest spawn timers.

above all conquest is definitely better than normal siege. ... As long as there's a large enough population and once multis are sorted. This is not happening on NA.

(less nerdy word for) Kudos to the lady who did the female voices. They're really quality work. I love the male voices as well, but they're more along the goofy lines of crpg, whereas the female ones really sound like one badass bitch going to war. Except the "thank you kind sir", which shows off her range and ability.

It went down to 6 soon afterwards :) Lost like 20k, was on the losing team a good few maps in a row. Either way, 1h cav is still fun, and I'm glad it's not a bump slashing bulldozing machine as much anymore.

Your ping makes you play worse than any other. If you do a 1:1 k/d with 200 ping, consider yourself as a pro.

It upsets me that I couldn't really play with a steel pick on horseback anymore. I think really we're forcing cav to take longer weapons now since they are actually discouraged from bumping their target... Which seems so foreign and silly to me.

There's a lot going on on the item management / balance forums side that's likely not to finish by the end of the day. It's probably similar for the devs since they have mbg stuff to handle at the same time.
