I doubt there's anything higher they achieved in life than winning those 14 000 euros.

90% sure they are all virgin.

How can you be proud for being a pro-gamer, when your real life is probably wasted?

I can judge all this by just looking at their appearance and I'm most probably even right.

Yeah of course I don't know for sure and I made standard exaggerating accusations, but trust me there's more thruth behind it then one would think.

I just know too many guys who take gaming to a "professional level" and so many of them have some social impairments or exclusively live by their virtual reality. Of course gamers try to uprise the image by themselves, by presenting games by hot girls or making game events like this where they suggest that if you're a good gamer you get rewarded for it. The reality couldn't be worse.

Extreme example of dedicated gamers lol. Just look at them, omg.

Do you feel superior now? Do you feel accomplished? What have you achieved that will reach more people than what NIP is doing? Is procreation all there is to being successful in life?

The speedruns are all for charity, which is a good cause even though they are a slightly autistic bunch they atleast donating more than $100k to help others. How much have you managed to provide to help humanity, hmm?

Didn't know they're donating for a charity (info text primarily said something about beating some japanese record so I didn't bother reading further). Well my respect.

As for the NiP whatever stuff, I don't think they have reached anything important, except promoting excessive gaming. I just like to make fun of gaming cult stuff and all the seriousness about it (so don't bother if you feel offended), I personally would be ashamed to get a prize for being uber-nerd-gamer.

Come on, ofcourse there will be some handsome looking gamers with six pack. But let's pick on stereotypes and be fair that most of them gamers look like that guy               |

Also why is it called e-sport ? Should be called anti-sport lol.

Obviously, e-sport promotes people with poor physic since they dont have to flex anything but their brain and their fingers.
Its like criticizing marathon men because it promotes people with a very slim physique, or weight lifters to be big.

You are what you do and people who invest 100% of their time in video games will look pale and weak, they dont need to be muscular and tanned to win video games tournament, as people doing physical activities dont need to be smart to win their contests. It still doesnt mean that they have to be pale and weak, since you can do other things in your past time, or that all sportmen are dumb  :D

If you focus on their center of interest and their skill at it, those guys won because they are the best in their game, and thats what sport is all about: competing with other like-minded people and striving to be  n°1 in what you do.

GG NiP

So it can only be a sport if you do heavy physical activities ? So chess and other activities where they have huge tournaments is not a sport since you just move your fingers and you actually have to think instead of doing the classic "sport" and run and jump.

@Butan/Kuoin I agree on your points with competeting stuff Butan, only thing bothering me is that while you're good at gaming it most probably comes with decline of physical or social ability. You don't have that kind of decline in other brain sport games like chess. There are few e-sport games where you have to make very deep tactical or strategy decisions in order to have success. For me that's no real brain sport, but just exhausting brain functions you already learned. I would compare it sport-wise to chess if you always had to renew your tactical/strategical thinking, but to me it only seems as if the things that matter are reaction time, having a good equipment and making mostly tactical approaches with lack of strategic thinking. That's my opinion.

Damn you really care for people. I dont give a shiet what they do with their spare time, all i care about is them giving a good show by playing well. Decline of physical and social ability is their choice so whatever.

I think we should create a new thread soon

Anyway Karl, I agree that using computers too much induce a physical decline. On the social ability decline I also agree, but to a point: chatting using keyboard/micro/forums still improve communication skill, and photo/video based tools social awareness. Where I strongly disagree is about the intellectual decline. Video games are games, and games teach us a lot of things (of course depending on the type of game), I believe I've learnt more from video games than books, than school.

As Gravoth said, if you just dont selfishly care about individual people and just enjoy what they can give you (in this case, a spectacle), its fairly reasonable to say that those guys mechanically/naturally deserved to be where they are and doing so gave you something to see! Or not, if you're not interested.

E-sport in general is much as a competition like normal sport as it is entertaining for the masses. I personally find watching an e-sport tournament way more exiting than a 100 meter sprint etc.

Can't agree on that . Definitely there's few learning components in video games but imo no way does it compare with any official learning faculty. I also don't think it applies to you.

On the e-sport stuff let's agree that there's arguments speaking for/against the sport term :)

What are the arguments against? Simply because it's an old fashioned thinking?

SO you shot that plane in Ukraine?

OT: Raise your children as pro gamers they already make more money then "most sports". If they fail you can always send them in army.
