Thanks!

I spent a couple hours on it yesterday setting up the shape/layout and a couple more today carving attacking it with the Dremel.

I officially declare this week cRPG arts and crafts week!

Thanks for the offer, but I've still got more to work on/learn from the stick. Gonna look for a cheap set of woodcarving chisels this weekend and try for something more ornate at the bottom!

"Japanese Artist Creates Incredible Stone Sculptures That Defy The Laws Of Physics." Defying the laws of physics is probably the most over-used phrase. Firstly, nothing can really defy the laws of physics, save for a new scientific discovery that may prove our existing laws completely incorrect. But really, please... tell me how sticking a zipper on a rock suddenly breaks science? Cool sculptures nonetheless...

Thanks!

Man, the only way to carve a stick is with a knife! Using a power tool just feels like cheating... slowly whittling away with a pocket knife just adds to the love imbued on said stick! :P

What you have there is a masterwork PLANK this difference is a plank has been cut into a flat shape, while a stick is an unaltered limb.

Just some clarification I majored in wood shop

It's not talking about physics, it's just seems to be a metaphor how it is perceived in art.

I know that it isn't exactly a scientific journal article, but... why describe art with incorrect scientific assumptions? Is it too hard to just say it looks cool? :P

If you made that - thats legit as fuck man!

I will also post my shit then  8-)

i made this a few years ago

On this

It used to be sharp but ive used it frequently in the past years. (Yes its a useable tool) to sharpen it I made the cutting blade by 'stroking' the hammer away from the edge, like smearing it into the direction that needs to cut. Afterwards I used this:

Just spit on it and rub the cutting edge's flat side across it for a smooth finish. (Theres a tactic, but i cant explain in english, missing the vocabulary..

"On the stick is a representation of San and a Goblin. The goblin is in a fetal position. San is smiling like a Picasso painting."

Your posts are pure gold, Johammeth. You make your old master weep with satisfaction that he raised such a young squire to become such a pillar of Calradia

Johammeth you were a big inspiration to me.
Today I found me a nice maple stick. Ecorticate and cut into rough shape it now looks like this.

I have to admit it turns out to be more club than wooden stick.
But however tomorrow I will try to find me a good carvingknife and loom the shit out of it.

Awesome posts guys.  Love the cave man dildo, the rocks, and all the metalwork.  Someone should use a masterwork stick to carve another masterwork stick....  > . > Not dremel....Unless its a masterwork dremel.

I have loomed my stick today.
It's a +2 now. Maybe I find the time someday to loom it to +3.

It's a fresh cut maple branch. I found it next to a road where municipal workers cut a lot of trees. I past by there the day after I read the OP and had to take it.
