This is rough, I love the detail of the face so much that I want to zoom in on it for my profile, but at the same time I really love what you did with the gear and armor and feel like that needs to be included too, but to keep them both in the profile pic you can hardly see the detail on either :o

I actually started work on this a week ago, but when I had finished the sketches of all 5 people I didn't like how they looked. So then I redid it from scratch and this is the result of the first two.

I need this to look as much like a sketch as possible; to give you a specific goal to work towards, the one posted above would be an excellent reference. I need texture and basic shading. No banner, and no color, because i might use it later for something else; i can put it on myself, but i need the basic details worked out. I apologize if i have not been clear. While i do want shading, its important to not do it to heavily. as an example. i cannot do anything with the boots because they are solid black. there also seems to be a severe lack of any shading or detail whatsoever.

I'm going to be frank, I'm really not impressed. I don't know if its just me, but it seems like this is nothing to the caliber like what you've done for others.

Pretty basic pose. The only stipulation I have is that the knight is looking straight. I wouldn't mind if the shoulders were slightly turned, as opposed to just straight foward, but the helmet needs to be. If you'd like, you could do a outline with one straight, one turned slightly, otherwise, ill just do the basic straight pose, and you can do that, im sure you have other orders queued.
I wear Heraldic Mail over Plate, Hourglass Gauntlets (non guilded), Barbutta T shape helm, and Rus Calvary boots (they're as close to typical medieval boots in leather as i can get.) My weapon is the Italian Sword, and my shield is the Heavy Heater.
the sort of menacing, knightly looks that is found in dark fantasy would be preferable. perhaps do a test pose similar to the picture; big thing is he needs to look big, muscular, and imposing.
This is going to be used primarily as an avatar. Also, you don't have to replicate the banner on the tabard, a simple solid would be fine. I realize you are not coloring it, but try to give it somewhat of a shading to that there is some variation; I'll probably be touching this up in photoshop. I'd draw it myself but my attempts have been less than spectacular, and i figured i'd just let someone who knows what they're doing give it a whack.

This guy is spending hours of his own time for worthless currency. Its not even anything by crpg gold standards. I think people are being a bit demanding. I would ask for gold up front and no refunds. If the work is no good then people will stop asking for commisions
I think the problem here was the confusion about how SoG didn't want his emblem on his tabard, I think it threw him off a bit.
Anyway, Screaming Idiot handled himself well responding to the criticism. A+ to you man.

Appreciate the input, Inglorious. I did improve the texture in the revision, but looking at it now it is nigh imperceptible compared to the first draft. I understand I set the bar quite high with Pawiu (plus the fact that I have to do all sorts of art besides cRPG commissions), so I'll try to utilize some more sophistication in future commissions. I'm going to re-do SoG's (pen and ink according to his most recent post). I'll be doing some new and improved things soon once I start the new thread.
Regarding SoG, I understand you being mad at me and I can't blame you, but I am putting a lot of effort into all of my work, it's just that I haven't been raising the bar up as much as I'd like, plus the fact that I tried to do something in a medium I lack practice/experience that I assumed would be more convenient to you. I never meant to insult/demean you during the process of this commission, so I apologize if I did. I'll redo your commission pen & ink over the weekend, and it should be up sunday, tops.
In any case, I'll get shit done over the weekend and finally bury this thread. :o
