Post by: Jordach545 on March 03, 2014, 11:20:18 pm
 Just a fun poll to make the archer class more of a skill. Thanks for taking part, f(r)iends.

It is too simple to get around, even with something as simple as a tiny ball of blu tac, you can stick it to the screen where the center of the crosshair is.

Just don't increase the damage anymore, please.

So basically remove the crosshair and double the damage?

However all you need to do is put a bit of blu-tac or sticky paper where your crosshair was and then you still have a crosshair and have just gained double damage. Not a smart plan by any means.....

This OP is fucking dumb:

1/ Bobby is right, Segd will make a mode to implement a crosshair, and many will use it. Just as currently many are using mids that: remove fog, remove all non-solid foliage, add big coloured sticks to all player models so they are visible behind walls/trees etc, add high-viz arrows etc. Since nothing is ever done about this, or the persistant use of macros by some players, we must assume modding the game in ALL ways except autoblock is 100% allowed. Personally I consider all these things cheating and should be a permaban, thats not the official stance.

2/ NOOBS! You never put blutack or some shit on your screen: A small piece of sellotape (or any transparant tape) over your screen's center, and then use a soft tipped marker to draw in your crosshair (You do this in native or any FPS game to ensure your crosshair is accurate). This takes 30 seconds and costs nothing. Source: used to play DoD for cash-money.

So, no.

ye i use the DIY Crosshair trick while playing rust, because rust doesn't have crosshairs.

this idea will never work.

also wrong section, needs to be in suggestions category.

That's what I did on CS: Source. Took a very small piece of tissue, rolled it into a ball, wet it with my saliva (although water would have worked just as well in hindsight [what the fuck was I thinking]) and stuck it to the center of the screen so I could no-scope for days.

And for those who don't know, you can get a better crosshair instead of that wacky circular shit that looks like a butthole. You can find better crosshairs here:
http://forum.melee.org/beginner's-help-and-guides/mods-compatible-with-crpg-(updated-sticky)/

I personally use #4 and my accuracy was literally 25% better on a longbow after switching.

I get what your saying, but like people said, its not gonna work. Scrubs will just find some way to bypass it...

The main problem with ranged in this game is the actual mechanics of it. Doesn't matter if you have a crosshair if the shots are still based in the centre of the screen with very little else involved

For a realism style game they should really have a free-aim system that makes it so the centre isn't always the point where the shot releases from. The release of the shot should be based on more variables, like movement speed, turn speed etc. There is a lot of development that could go into making a more indepth shooting system, like the depth we have with melee combat. Just having the point of release be based on more than just the centre of the screen with RNG would be a start like games like Red Orchestra
