Title: Trainings for new players
Post by: Chasey on February 14, 2014, 12:34:52 am
Hey guys, I've noticed a lot of talk on the forums recently about new players and how we can greet them better so they stick around. So I've got quite a bit of free time recently and I'm more than happy to spend a couple hours a day to help train any new players that want to learn. It would be ideal if you use team speak as it would make the process much easier. What I would be doing, would be very similar to how I was trained back in shogunate days, where we were given a mentor and sent to the duel server to go through the basics. So if anybody is interested in any 1 on 1 sessions just drop me a pm for a time when your available and hop on ts and ill do my best to try and improve your game :)

There are many many experienced players who are still around, much who are probably more suited for this than me, so if anybody else would like to offer there services just drop your name here too. The more the merrier.

Edit: The TS we use, your happy to come in and just ask any questions you want, or you can message me directly there. TS info : 198.211.124.245

^ I`m not as good as Chase, but I can offer some advice on polearms and different techniques (how to outrange lolstab, how to kill/avoid an incoming couch attack etc etc).

Feel free to PM me or add me on steam.

Yeah, because being a 2hander playing with a plate armour and a strengh based build, is so much hard

I'm on Shu Han TS but I can't see you there... Could you put your steam-name here, so we can contact you?

EDIT: k, Chase is on dat TS but the name is kinda misleading

Also I could help a bit if other 'senpais' were busy.

I can show you the ways of making Panos hate you, because of the way you play and the class you are. It is great fun.

I will counter all of the lessons that Panos learns the new polearm players.

PS: Chase plz train me sensei, much plz.

Yeah, good doing.

I'm not particularly good at something specific, but probably decent enough at everything to be able to help with this.
Info on how to reach me can be found here (http://forum.melee.org/game-admin-feedback/(eu)-karasu-(trial)/msg849211/#msg849211).

Well, I'm "good" at banning people without warning, but that's something that can't be taught, the badmin genes can't be transmitted.

I can teach you how to be slow, is that what you meant?

Nah, I am already slow and lazy. Too lazy to block most of the time.

But guys, if someone dosn't help me improve melee I'll be forced to become the most dreadful thing in this game. An archer. Or a horse archer. Or a horse crossbow.

I 2nd this.

Thomek tried to show me a bit here and there once... after 10 minutes he suddenly said "Ah man, so sorry... my connection is fucking up again..." and he disconnected with a normal ping of 58

Wonder if I did something wrong :|

Not really, it happens. You may have a ping of ~40 and feel like if it was 100. Every second attack changes it's direction in the middle of the swing and releasing an attack takes Ä…dditional ~0,5 sec. Realy destroys the timing and is annoying. I had it recently, had to restart my router and everything came back to normal.

Best improvement of skill is to go duel server.  Playing few duel matches before going to battle/siege server helps a lot.

He didn't.

He actually made a good joke, like he'll remember this excuse for the next time he disconnects in duels. Seems like a smart one to me.

This is not the man to go to for that advice. If there is one thing you have proved, it's that you are physically incapable of not getting couched by me every single time.

Hey, I'm a good player and I'd like to train newbies ( who are succesful in their IRL life) so I can show how much of an altruistic, smart and e-hung player I am because I'm shit at everything else in my life and increasingly shittier at this game that no one ever heard of and this is my last chance to somehow redeem myself in my own eyes.

Who said this was an e-peen thread? We just want to help newbies !
