LOL mucho ;-)

Luckily the US are the most schizophrenic country on earth, - so besides being the most fascist, nationalist and racist nation and the worst global economic and military terrorists they still have the highest amount of relaxed, open-minded, tolerant and forward thinking (not in the sense of technical advance but in the sense of self-development and spiritual growth)  folks as well.

Oh, and that was a typical Germish sentence, way to long and complicated. Sorry 'bout that.

Just watched it and I thought it was quite nice personally. (I'm American)  People take things too literally, and don't bother to think about the underlying meaning.  Maybe only Americans do that but, it's sad because the idea and the message in the commercial was rather cool in my opinion.

You sound like the reasonable majority whose tweets were obviously not scandalous enough to be screenshotted. Shame on you commie!

Europeans and Asians are 100x more racist than Americans. Just google Europeans and Multi Culture and realize natzee racist nationalistic parties are forming up everywhere in Europe and gaining ground.

Russia and USA failed to exterminate all natzees during World War 2.

this same thing happened with the Miss America thing as well.  The lady whom looked "Indian" won and a special few decided to tweet about it in a vulgar manor.  Easily enough as you did it yourself, its just simpler to pin up the whole country as retards then the select few that made the posts. Dont forget all germans are naz1s!

If anything i say blame the social media, its fucking pointless in the first place and just eats at peoples addictions to post absolutely shitty things.

Please refrain from judging millions of people with a handful of words.. yes these people posting these things are fucking stupid but they do not account for the entire country.  There are idiots in every nation, and unfortunately they are typically the ones on social media and news interviews making their country look like shit, setting the standard for what other's will view that nation as.

There are many posts of other americans who support Coca Cola for such a commercial as I would do.

Yeh, I agree with you, some people just generalizes too much and as you said, the media is interested in creating conflicts between both parts by giving importance to these generalized opinions.

That one who took an oath to defend America from foreign languages is a hero.

Then again to be fair i would probably be confused if coke had an advert during the FA cup final or England Rugby/Football games where they sung English patriotic songs in other languages :D I think my reaction would be more. what is this i don't even.. What was the point of that advert? :P

There isn't a face palm hard enough to do this shit justice, it seems the average American isn't even aware that they are just European immigrants that conquered several primitive tribes. They are no more American than someone of African or Arabian descent born in the USA, they don't even have their own language, they just use a fucked up version of English.

Because such an ad wouldn't make sense in any European nation state, d'oh.

--edit: though, it could actually work in the UK, if the other languages were Welsh, Scottish and Irish.

The most shocking aspect of this ad is that it is very patriotic even though a global company ought to be a little more neutral.

its a one time add, used to play once for a few minutes during an american sport during an american event,  It doesnt have a reason to be neutral,  Its appeal is to an audience that is american.

Simply put, they will market the product in a manner best fit for the audience watching the said advertisement.

This map of reported ancestry on the 2000 U.S. census is hilarious and should give you an idea of of where in the USA these xenophobic views are more common, though of course they exist in any state of the USA, or any country in the world.

To be fair, the South historically has actually had way less immigration than the North and Midwest. Except for the forced kind in chains :(  That can be blamed for a lot of the ignorance you see, since in lots of cities in USA you will find totally accepted multiculturalism abound as a fact of life and no one bats an eye, I'd say its way way less racist than the shit you hear from a lot of EU countries.

From my experience in the Northeast, the "average American" has a ton of pride of their grandparents or later who immigrated to America, and keep their "old world" traditions alive in often stupid, misguided MURICA ways (try a St. Patrick's day with a lot of Irish-Americans, jesus).  I know just as many people who grew up in bilingual households with first generation immigrant parents, and are definitely average Americans, while having tons of South American/European flags everywhere, loving the fuck out of soccer, speaking two languages, and whatever else.

Though I think everyone can agree: Fuck Brazillians

To play devils advocate: America is already a multicultural society that is again getting more and more multicultural. Naturally that causes a bit of chaos. It happened in the 1840s all the way up to the 20th century with Irish, Germans, Italians, Scandinavians, English,  and Scottish immigrants. Perhaps you've heard of the gang violence that happened in Chicago and New York during the period that directly stemmed from cultures clashing. Cultural chaos happens no matter how "peacefully" the integration process because it's simply a matter of interaction.

There are some people that are fine with interacting with new cultures and there are others, usually the ones with strong cultural ties, that resist.

We have dumb ppl. in every country, just like America has dumb people.
The problem with the notoriously dumb is that they more often than not cry the loudest and get all the attention. Just look at all the wannabe celebs in Germany like Daniela Katzenberger or Dieter Bohlen or whoever, it's not like we're any better in this case than Murica. The only problem with those dumbfucks is that some people actually admire them and listen to the shit that manages to get the way from their pile of garbage that wants to call itself "brain" through their mouth and starts polluting our ears or eyes.

As long as some people will listen to them they will continue polluting people's minds, the only solution is ignoring them.

The South identifies as American because of multi-culturism. The reason is that the majority are African/American Indian/and some other ancestry or 3. If any tweets like the ones expressed going out are from the South, it is from the small minority that wants to be "White" even though they aren't.

Coca Cola has enough money to hire people who are smarter than you or me to design its marketing strategies. They absolutely anticipated that there would be a substantial number of racist (disguised as patriotic) tweets in reaction to this, just like w/ the Cheerios commercial last year. They would never have released this ad w/out considering its impact on the bottom line. The fact is, most Americans don't care about this diabetes merchant and its marketing strategies, and more of those who do care look favorably on this ad than those who were "offended" by it.

Ugh. The people I grew up around in Missouri would have said something like this.
From my experience in the pseudo-South, this is attributed to a lot of rural/suburban stubbornness, and a lack of culture. Completely.
That's not to say everyone is like this, but throughout highschool, being a disgruntled racist was totally acceptable.
The town I grew up in was something like 98% white, so I can understand how this happens.

Copying from the 2000 census on Wikipedia
Quote
The racial makeup of the city was 97.98% White, 0.39% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.80% of the population.
