Title: Weather changes last patch?
Post by: Prpavi on January 29, 2014, 10:58:19 am
Did you change anything? I notice more night, rain and fog than before, is it just me? It's almost like perma night 3 or 4 maps in a row sometimes, not really fun

If anyone finds a day-mod that removes the night then PM me. Fog and rain are easy to remove but not night :/

For me it looks like most of battles are somewhere in England.

skyboxes.txt is the key.

skyboxes.txt is the key.

I would really appreciate if this weather problem could eventually be addressed by the valued and most honorable dev team.

I have removed most nights myself via skyboxes.txt, because the DARK was becoming unbearable at some point for eyes and gameplay.

but I really do not like this approach. even less that "rain and fog are easy to remove", "bushes and other vegetation are easily flattened", "walls are easily made transparent", etc.etc.etc.fuckingmorebullshit...

Do we want to play a game where everyone has to deal with the same conditions - or "may the best haxx0r win"???

Suggestion: fucking change that weather cycle already with very little chance of night/fog/sandstorm/otherfuckedupweather conditions.
And then make it so that tampering with skyboxes.txt, related textures, etc. is NOT possible any more.

Back when I was playing on old shitty laptop night time was a nightmare for me. At some point I got so pissed that I was looking for a solution for it as it, found it on russian forums. Around that time I had short conversation with Meow about that and he said it was totally fine with him as he hates night time himself. Didn't used it much as I bought new PC and Monitor wich allows me to play on dx9, checking on Auto Exposure during night time really helps a lot and there was no real point in messing with files for me.
Is it any kind of cheating? Well, I am not the one to judge, but this is definatly better than fucking up your vision. Besides I doubt if it has any siginifcant impact on your in-game performance.
Messing up with fog on the other hand (especially for ranged units) is lets say fishy.

I honestly still don't understand why do we have night in this mod in the first place. It makes sense for single player campaign of Warband, because that's how the time is measured, but for multiplayer I don't get it? Could it be that developers have some sadistic impulse to make the crowd strain their eyes?

I'd like to see a complete black of night condition.  Teams would need to being torches to see anything.  It would be pretty nuts.

Personally I have no problem with rain/fog/sandstorm, it does not benefit my class but it doesn't bother me what bothers me is night time, it's a huge strain on the eyes, tampering with the gamma in my gfx card control panel only makes my eyes sore atfer a while and I disconnect.

If this is true, meaning day/night cycles have been altered it's not a proper way of dealing with the problems you were trying to solve. If not, I'm just having bad luck with the weather  and I don't mind, that's why I asked if ppl noticed it also or is it just me

Oh, it just reminds me that when I was talking with Meow he said that they were planning to introduce some kind of system that wouldn't allow you play with any kind of "black listed" modifications of files as they found out that there were some chinese players using some kind of modificated "show player names" admin feature wich allows them to see players health etc

I have noticed lots of rain and night mostly, but its probably just coincidence. Makes the game less enjoyable to play for sure tho

Seriously somebody should just start a clan with this banner so people could express their feelings about the weather like a boss...

Why is this always brought up and always ignored? Dev's are vampires, but not the Daywalking kind?

And now for weather forecast:

It appears that for next few months, cRPG will suffer from long and intense arrow storms, accompanied by hurricanes of insults and bad language.
Experts advise fellow citizen of cRPG to not leave their houses, unless necessary.

If necessary, remember to boost your iron-flesh and strenght stats, and always wear plate armor and a shield with good enough coverage.

That is all for today. Have a nice day and good luck playing and keeping your sanity intact.

EDIT: I feel for you guys. I hope this blows over soon, so we can have nice things again. Thank god my pc broke down, so I dont have to experience these horrors.

I know you can remove rain by turning off WSE2 and disabling particle effects...but how did you turn fog off?

Weather doesnt bother me, night time simply makes me strain my eyes though and it is not enjoyable to play in. It also doesnt really add any strategy either as you can still see people a mile away.
