While I hate the rondel trolls like most guys, this is just ridiculous. When I played dagger character before this patch, I usually went with long dagger because I found it better. Now it's miles better, and cheaper to boot. :|

Would've preferred rondel as only usable without shield. I can still see it being annoying even with reduced damage due to the nature of the playstyle.

Also, MotF spawning first round should probably get hotfixed. It wouldn't be that bad if flags didn't often appear very close to one team's spawn.

They removed the free wpf from leveling. It was still in for some reason, but not for all chars.

This was perfect for me! Since i put away the arbalest on my alt i would have been forced to play it as a weak 1 hander with limited wpf. Now what to do with a lvl 30 15/24 build? :)

Might sound counterintuitive, but when you have 1 much stronger attack like a super fast, high damage stab, having 4 directions available is actually a disadvantage for most players. The rondel's stab only mode makes spamming the stab much easier. With the long dagger and a high agi build, players will do the wrong attack sometimes, making it much less effective.

Before, some players have more wpf because of bug, now is fixed.

Estoc is invisible in secondary mode, and (it is not big deal) but Flambard have different model at web-shop and in-game.

Daggers don't deserve those nerfs. But usability with shield has to go. And maybe raise STR req. I have no problem to be killed by someone who knows how to chamber with it. But to be killed by a twat hiding behind the shield, that sucks. Also those 13 ATH builds are also annoying because they just abuse speed stat, no skill included.

I think we need to limit upper range for AGI stat, like we did with STR stat recently. Builds with unbreakable shields and more than 10 ATH have to be at big disadvantage because they are extreme. Stat range in this mod is just to extreme and kills immersion. People don't differentiate that much, especially not trained soldiers. Don't feed the trolls, by allowing them these silly builds and items.

As Gurnisson said, I have been using long dagger since the very beginning, coz rondel has to switch to second mode to be able to slash from sides, long dagger does all attacks in main mode and now even has more attack than rondel and costs almost twice less, I have been playing the dagger troll to show how fked up this is and I have fallen for how fun it actually is, but yeah, Im for disabling shield with dagger too, it seems just too much

Real men use Dagger (not rondel or long) and they use it without fear (OR a shield).


Recently tho my W key on craptop is breaking and I cant always close on ppl, theres NOTHING so bad as having the oppening and not being able to use it. Many years of always chasing backpeddlers has broken my w key...

Maybe make it so dagger can only be equipped by pressing N, or if its your only item when spawning.

Did that too when I respecced my alt Franzibald to a 2h a while a go, played without wpf for like 3 hours and only fell 0.3 short of my usual k/d with other classes. Didn't notice it at all.

but yesterday i thought to myself if i was having severe server lag or my class got madly nerfed but no its just wpf reset -.-

I don't know how to deal with the lack of player-skill involved in the "forcefields" that we call shields in this game,
and I agree that the "shield/dagger ninjas" were annoyingly imbalanced as far as cost-effectiveness (not to mention immersion / realism),
but completely removing the ability to use dagger with a shield is 1 step forward and 3 steps backward imo.
shielddagger is not so game-breaking, imo, that extinction of the "style" which no-shield-with-daggers would cause, is needed.

Best solution given the game engine's restrictions currently? Nerf daggers' damage! GJ & thanks devs for beginning that process. :)

What about adjusting the shield penalty versus shield skill some more,
so that with shield in-hand, if you want to be good at anything other than standing still (or riding) and blocking, then you need to have more shield skill? (4-5+? just example)
Or maybe it is already like that, I do not know... I haven't played Crpg shielder in years.  :oops:

Seems like this patch had negative effects on DTV population. There were some people playing this late on working days but right now both servers are empty. Double XP on specific servers is bullshit.

Well yes that would be the first logical choice, but that's not considering that people like Ser_Butts don't need a shield to be a stabbing nuisance in combat.

Yeah, that's why I prefer the weapon balanced for usage without shield (good stats and buffing dagger/long dagger, then increasing price, etc.) instead of designed around usage with shield: making them crappy weapons that are just really annoying to fight for most people? I probably have the least issues since I use a fast one-hander, but the playstyle by its very nature is infuriating for most others.

3 less damage doesn't change what made it OP in the first place. If people perceive it to be nerfed though we get fewer of them, which is nice

3 less damage is a considerable nerf to its damage potential and definitely impacts the weapon's effectiveness regardless of how you look at it.

The fact that it is pierce guarantee its effectiveness up to 15-20 base damage on pretty much every armors.

Then being able to have effective thrust + unbreakable shield + very fast speed and still be able to wield the dagger makes it OP. Even though one could still argue that it requires skill to manoeuver around, but with a shield its like a fast as lightning lightweight version of kinngrimm  :P  but there is no need to try to call for another nerf, at least for a few months.

He had it when the swings were OP, not the stabs.  We can all thank Tydeus for the stabs.

I said "pretty much" to summarize the PS/armor efficiency ratio  :P

Now the Long Dagger is much better yea, it should have been nerfed accordingly because now the Rondel deals less damage, is slower, has less reach and cost more  :rolleyes:  we will see Bumbo with Long Dagger or even Dagger is the near future  :P
