The Clan League is back and we're now gearing up for season 2 so kick your leaders into action and get your clan involved

KEY CHANGES
- Clans are now ranked according to performance in all fixtures and assigned points
- Prizes will be awarded to the highest ranked team and the most improved team each season so long as both teams have completed at least 16 fixtures during that season.
- These fixtures can be played at any time during the season.
- Seasons will last 6 months and are run back to back with no gaps.
- The cut off dates for seasons will be the Sunday before Xmas Eve and the corresponding Sunday in June.
- This means this next season will end at midnight CET on Sunday 22nd December
- There is no cut off date for entry and clans can enter anytime by contacting an Admin
- We are currently in the process of creating a webpage to handle and automate as much of the admin work as possible and the new season will start as soon as it is ready.
- Rostering has changed (see below)
- Crushthrough weapons are now allowed but will count towards your ranged/cav limit
- Keep checking here for further announcements

Why not merge with a small melee focused clan to compete then?  Remember you need 16 registered players anyway.

We got 41 clan members so it wouldnt be the problem. We will not compete most probably now. We really wanted to try full archer squad (no matter that its stupid...).

You could go with the blackfists.
Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: En_Dotter on July 02, 2013, 06:23:44 pm
So basically if Quincy Clan wants to participate we can have 3 archers max (or clan members max) if we dont use cav. That means that 5 players will be some other clan, so this woulnt be clan league but a mixed clan league if we would participate. We are out 99.999%. We want to fight as a clan not as ringers for others who dont have ranged.
Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: Tomas on July 02, 2013, 06:29:03 pm
Your choice.

You are welcome to an unofficial scrim vs Fallen if you really want to try a full archer squad.  Just talk to Tizzango to arrange a time
Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: bagge on July 02, 2013, 06:30:15 pm
Then use STF's is you want to participate as a clan.

No one want to play against 8 ranged players, no one.
Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: En_Dotter on July 02, 2013, 06:32:43 pm
Its totally fine. We will not cry about it. Our dream got a bit shattered thats all. And wouldnt it be easy to play vs 8 ranged? Just take shields and done. :P

Anyway we might do some scrims with fallen then. It might be fun. Tnx for that info man!

UPDATE

Tenne is working away on the site - http://46.32.229.176/Chris_Project/Tournament_Website/index.php?p=ar

He's currently baby proofing the add match function to make sure I can't break it with invalid dates :D

Still to do (I think)
- Score submission and Confirmation
- Points calculation
- Server scheduling

Quick chat about that website.

Basically it's a terribly formatted website with a database that I have just started working on because I thought it might be a nice idea to keep everything in one place.

Also, a big thank you to my betters, my good friend who none of you will know and Bifi for helping out, whining that my code is awful and my database structure is like a "house of cards waiting for a gust of wind".

Quick chat about that website.

  • It'll be scrappy, I'm no Harald, that's for sure!
  • It'll by-pass a lot of the forum leg work so things will hopefully run smoother.
  • Always up to date season by season scores table.
  • Easy submission of results & confirmation without forum posts.
  • Server booking & match time organisation, probably be subject to change, but it'll be a useful guideline anyway
  • Captain & Lieutenant accounts with team affiliation, add team members etc (no account needed to view results or upcoming matches) - Don't use a password that you would normally use, I am certainly not a security expert so it's literally just to attach a Captain to a Team.
  • Back-log of results from previous seasons. Scores and what-not.

That's already good :P

Why is there an armor limit? This is a huge disadvantage to those who have heavy loomed armors!
Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: Tomas on July 07, 2013, 05:34:37 pm
Why is there an armor limit? This is a huge disadvantage to those who have heavy loomed armors!

This isn't an individual tourney so why does it matter if those with loomed heavy armours can't use them?  Unless you are suggesting that there are clans out there who crutch so badly on using nothing but loomed heavy armours that as a group, none of them will have loomed armour to use?

The rules are designed to make things as fun as possible for ALL classes/players, replacing upkeep as the moderating factor on equipment usage

Title: Re: cRPG EU Clan League
Post by: Akynos on July 08, 2013, 03:45:22 am
If the tournament rules imply that those using heavy armor must chose another playstyle , then it becomes an issue.
Furthermore in such a small team if one player is at unease with his class, it can decide the outcome of the battle.

The website isn't quite complete yet (no ranking points as yet) and so we have not been making too much about it, however there is no reason why teams that are organised now cannot start playing matches and so for those that asked we said go for it.

You just need to make sure you talk to myself or Tenne before doing anything to make sure you know how everything works.

Yeah, I'm slow, I had a lot of real life stuff to deal with that unfortunately I couldn't do anything about it. For people who are wanting to fight (Fallen vs Caravan Guild happened last night, a nice test of what was actually working on the website) you're welcome to contact me personally through Steam (Tennenoth for those who don't have it) and I'll be more than happy to help you out.

As for the work on the website, I intend (and have a working offline draft) to get the calculation working so the ranking table will work properly (per season too) and the results page will have a few options that will allow you to look for specific clans/per season ya-da ya-da.

Again, sorry about the delay & no major announcement.

EDIT: There are a lot of missing features as of right now, such as the ability to change captains etc, they'll be there but as I have said before, I want this to get going ASAP! :)

Absolutely. Bifi has offered to do this for me, he says he should be able to start tomorrow. Expect something much better than anything I could have done.

Tomas has given me permission to abuse my Forum Moderator powers to update the first post with a "Tenne's To Do List" so I shall add prioritised things to that! :)

Oh, and I changed the registration so that the database doesn't store passwords, it stores a string of characters that I can't reverse engineer, not that I would do anything with them anyway. (All passwords have already been converted, even if you registered before now!)

I've fought long and hard over the last 5 or so hours to make php output an image, something that I knew I could do, but never knew how. I've bodged the following together that will (eventually once I get a little more experience) be automatically updated each time a new match is submitted so that it can be used (and hopefully look a little more presentable) to post on the forums to show the current scores.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

As you can tell, it's quite scrappy, but as I get better with it, I will be able to output graphs on the fly (much like the fabled Harald does) so you can have a graphical representation of the statistics that I want to allow people to access. This wasn't on the list but I thought that it would be a nice thing to "wind down" with last night and I ended up finally crawling into bed at 5am missing half my hair.

EDIT: I manage to get it automatically update each time the results page is loaded by someone (which should happen when someone confirms a score) but I should be shot for the coding practice that I employed in achieving it. No one in their right minds would think it to be a good way of doing it, but I can't get it to work any other way as of yet. I think I need to fiddle around with the VPS but for now, it works and that's all that matters at this point, just remind me to change it once the whole thing is working!

i want to join with my team (but i am not  captain), so question is:
is there another season openning? have i got late or not for the season. is it opened for new teams?

P.S. this is not a complete application, i just want to gain some information about new season to assemble my mates.

The season is ongoing but you can join at any time.  So far there's only actually been 2 matches played but there's still 3 months for teams to get active so that isn't an issue.  During the season you just need to play 16 matches against any opposition, but even if you don't play that many matches the results will still count towards next season so aren't ever a waste of time.

To form a new team you need to show that you have at least 15 players and that you have your own clan ladder in cRPG.  If you aren't the leader of that clan ladder it doesn't matter but I will have to check that your clan leaders are happy with you entering a team in their name.

Tenne is just starting an MSc (I think) and i'm just finishing one and start a new job on Monday so this kind of got dropped from our list of priorities :(

It is pretty much set up though and the only thing that me or Tenne are really needed for is to add new teams.  I'll try and get a Captain's guide written to help as well but otherwise it is going to be down to Captain's to drive activity.  This was the aim though, just need a few teams Captains to start looking for matches.  I know Tendalor has been asking around for Fallen so if anybody wants a match against us, talk to him.

Yeah, going to lose more time but the whole thing is there, more or less. As I have said, there may be bugs & I'm not all that great but it is in working order & should self service.

I shan't just leave this. I've not run off during my entire last three years at Uni so I shan't run for this one!

Clan League Update

This is still alive and any teams wishing to join in should let us know.  There's been a lot of inactive clans over summer but now they're getting active again so we should be able to get plenty of matches in before the deadline in December.

OdE are definitely active for scrims (just fought them today).  Contact OdE_Squall if you want to fight them
Fallen are active for scrims - Just contact Tendalor
Guards should still be up for the odd scrim (i hope :D ) - contact Tenne if you want a match
HRE are active again on EU2 at least so have no excuse not to fight a match - contact lazy_Fips_HRE to fight them

Hopefully Byzantium, Mercs, SB, Eques and Kapikulu will also confirm their activity and give us some more options for opponents.  And new team are welcome to enter at any stage.

See http://46.32.229.176/Chris_Project/Tournament_Website/index.php for details

Finally a reminder of the things on Tenne's to do list :D

Good to see some matches being played at the moment :)

Just a quick note though....

Each map is a separate "match" and therefore they need submitting separately.  This is because the automatic calculations are based on matches being a total of 8 rounds.  The current 16-0 listed for Greys v OdE therefore won't get calculated but I'll get Tenne/Bifi to fix it.

Already discussed a couple of things I will be adding/changing when I have the free time.
I don't have a lot of it right now, got a bit too much work going on right now hence why I've not really been playing cRPG at all too.

It'll get done, I keep saying that, but it will! :)

Two questions:

1) Is it allowed to use multiple characters in the league?

2) Is it allowed to use mercenaries for some matches? Say if they don't belong to any clan in league, joining for one match or two? Cause that would help shit tons due to inactive players.

Yes - no limit on chars so long as they have the right banner

2) Is it allowed to use mercenaries for some matches? Say if they don't belong to any clan in league, joining for one match or two? Cause that would help shit tons due to inactive players.

Yes - Randomers (people from clans not in the league) can be used but only if they have not fought for any other clans recently (use common sense but as a guide lets say within the last 2 weeks).

EDIT: In the spirit of getting as many games in as possible I am also going to say that so long as BOTH captains are happy then teams can also use other team's players.  For instance if your opponents can only manage 7 players and you have 9, then if both captains agree, one player can be transferred for the match to make it 8v8.
