Fuck me, I swear I've never seen this amount of trolling coming from the developers of a game. I honestly hope you guys don't do this with your M:BG otherwise you'll be in for a short ride.
This isn't a troll, this is legitimate. Look through Vodner's post history to see his posts on this subject. Soak/Reduce both natively have 55% randomness in effectiveness, now it has 5%(unless this gets rolled back because cmp broke the mod :D He fixed it already). The only way you can do more average damage than what you did before, is if you're collecting data from a very small number of tests, or your opponent has something like 80 armor(not possible to reach).

Actually, the change in the OP is real and you just managed to troll yourself. Congratulations.

So you don't get instances of high or low damage, just medium damage all the time. Far fewer 0 damage glances or 1 hit kills

Is 80 a magic breaking point, or do you just mean that high armor values like 80 or 100 aren't attainable with any gear? I have 70 body armor with +3 gloves and body piece, and neither of them are the highest you can get.
fake edit: oh the absolute max you can get is 79. My armor setup isn't anywhere near the price of milanese plate and heavy gauntlets...

What I mean, is that it's not until about 80 body armor where you will see your average damage changing against anything other than 30c 1 handers(which would be 1 less damage per hit, on average) and it would take 100 body armor to see that same difference for a 40c weapon. Assuming 6PS, 100 wpf, no speed bonus, no hold bonus.

Great, really looking forward to seeing what difference this makes.

Does this mean everyone will glance less but not get one hit kills? Does slashing someone's face still give a bonus?

The only thing that was changed was the randomization, the RNG system that is built into soak/reduce effectiveness formulas which decide how much of the armor's effectiveness get used. So your armor and gloves give you 60 body armor, under the native system that means you could use all 60 of that armor to mitigate damage, or you could only use 27(45%) of that, and it would be decided essentially by the roll of dice. Now you either use 45 or 42 of that 60. Average damage stays the same, max damage gets lower, minimum damage gets higher.

This makes me wonder if previously min armor got rolled a lot. I've noticed that I glance more and it's taking more hits to kill me.
