I would like to start off by saying this is not the return of Final_Boss. I am merely updating the pack in his absence, in which he has given me permission to continue.

New Heirloom Models
What is it: A very easy to install cRPG mod that makes all heirloomed weapons look slightly different with each heirloom point spent. (horses, shields and armors to soon be included)

How Do I Mod Mod?
1 - Download Warhams installer
2 - Extract the contents anywhere (I think that's ok?)
3 - Extract CRPGSubMods.rar
4 - Run CRPGSubModsInstaller.exe
5 - Browse to your cRPG installation folder (For Steam users it's: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\mountblade warband\Modules\cRPG)
6 - Watch the Voodoo Magic happen
7 - Do this in-game (a lot):

See the problem with trying to do armors is that you might ruin the look of some person's favorite armor. So I will not do armor. Horses and shields, now that's a different story. I have to see if I have the skill to do that.

EDIT: Just do the armour too! I didn't heirloom a full suit of plate for the stats, I did it so I could see Final Boss fancyness!

Somehow ive always liked the +2 versions in the loompack the most. The goldtrim etc of the +3s is a little over the top imo. The silver encraved handles are the sweet stuff.

However, the newest items you have done (spath(s), paramerion) look pretty similar. One of the things I really loved about the heirloom pack is that not all weapons looked the same when loomed and I think this should be expanded on, even more so than finalboss did.

Finnaly someone to continue Final_Boss awsome pack, I am eager to see the shield and armor textures!


The only down side (for me at least) is for the Paramerion, Spathion, and Spathovaklion. I think you should have kept the original texture and built around it. I loved the blade of the Spathion especially, as it different from the other swords. With the pack the sword  and mace just looks the same (blade and scabbard) as any other 1h.

Other than that good luck with your work  :D

I originally tried to keep the textures similar to the original textures on the paramerion and spathion. Didn't work out for me too well. I have since retextured the paramerion because of the similarities between itself and the spathion. Will release it with the polearms when I can do em.

It seems I get an error when installing, I run the exe and it says CRPGSubModsInstaller has stopped working I went to the right directory, any ideas as to what the problem could be?

There were some errors in the version of final boss because some item modifiers were changed.

Jarold, thank you so much for keeping up with this in Da Boss' absence. These sweet textures have kept me playing cRPG longer than I would have ordinarily.

The "nordic sword" has a sheath bug when drawn, but appears normal when sheathed.

I'm not sure what the problem is with that Nordic sword. I fixed it partially, now it only bugs out a little bit. But it only bugs at when it is unloomed so that's a good thing.

I'll put up a DL link to fix it soon.

Jarold , was thinking about to edit some items on my own , just a simple question : are you using only openbrf and gimp/photoshop just for texturing?

another question : If i want to edit for exaple "priest_robe.dds" i need to edit normal maps too or i leave them alone?

last question : if i want to remove the cross in the "priest robe.dds" and replace it with another funky object , normal maps need to be edited too ? if yes , i need to do something with module.ini?

Well you don't really need to edit the specular or normal map but it might look a little strange. Yeah I only use photoshop cs2, the NVidia .dds plugin, and wings3d for certain things.

To edit a model all you need to do is open it in some sort of program like wings3d and change the faces. Then overwrite the old model with the new one and you're done, same for textures.

If you ever do make it to armors, when you do the felt cap; could you have the Reinforced version have a feather in it. That way everyone would look like a pimp, and waste 3 looms just to have a Medieval pimp hat.

I'm having trouble installing the mod.  Im running it as administrator and when I run the install it doesnt say that it encountered any errors or such.  However, the models refuse to load.  I load the game up and I get into a game and the mod hasn't taken affect.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I'm at a loss as to work around the problem.

Also, I've tried just copying and pasting the resources and textures files into the CRPG folder, but that doesnt seem to work either.

Installing to correct folder? I think the default path by the installer is Mount&Blade - Warband, but the actual folder might not have that hyphen between Blade and Warband. I know every time I install, I have to remember to delete the hyphen and extra space so it'll install to the correct folder.

Understood.  I've been putting it into the steam folder for awhile now.  Would you have any idea as to why else it wouldn't load the models?  I've never had problems installing the mod, but with this recent patch I guess it's thrown a wrench into the mix of things.

I'm not sure? Are you clicking repair by accident, installing new patches makes you have to re-install.

How difficult would it be to remove one specific heirloom texture, say the spathion, and use the default cRPG skin, while still using the rest of the heirloom textures? I just really like the black blade on my MW Spathion, but I also really like all of the other heirloom models you've done. Do I simply need to overwrite the texture, or do I need to fiddle with the itemkinds.txt too? Or is it simply impossible?

Just export the static mesh of the spathion from zimke_byzantium and put it into the final_boss 1h and duplicate it fiur times and name it, Byzantium_spathion_h1 and so on. Also you have to change the texture it uses to whatever it was in zimke Byzantium. Sorry I am really tired typing this.

Apparently it has something to do with wanting to load a LOD mesh, it doesn't do that for me. I might try uploading my item kinds and just make you guys copy and paste that.

Yeah it just doesn't work. Not even with removing whole crpg folder and clean redownload.

Would be pretty great to see a trimmed version of this  - with some of the too extravagant weapon skins removed - included in the main cRPG file, as it fixes some of the more bland vanilla textures.

Where do I find this?

It's mostly the weapons are too richly ornamented for my taste, smells of ceremony more than battle. I think I prefer the +2 skins more than the +3's (and mostly it's for my German Poleaxe, the vanilla texture is severely lacking here).

No problem and good to hear, it still is bugging me though that it doesn't work for WSE2 users. (That's the conclusion I've come to not 100% sure)

See the problem with trying to do armors is that you might ruin the look of some person's favorite armor.

That's a bad reason, since it's easy to overwrite textures you don't like. I understand that you don't want to do armors, though. More than 400 items x 3 is a ton of work.

A little bit more information would me helpful. Did you double click on cRPG and then press the install button? Are you getting any errors?

I'm trying to add an heirloom helmet whilst knowing literally nothing about how openbrf works and how to do the heirloomed items thing

So far, I've managed to separate the regular iron hat with aventail helmet with the +3 / lordly iron hat with aventail helmet, and it looks like this:

As you can see, something went horribly wrong. What happened, I know not, but it took me 3 days just to get this far and I refuse to give up because I am so close to being done. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help :(

The broken helmet is basically the mesh of the helmet, but completely untextured for some reason, with a copy of the textured, correctly modeled helmet floating over your head with no animation; i.e it's a helmet that just follows your head but doesn't bob, bounce, etc. as if it were connected to your hitbox

Here's a link to my work in case you need it to figure out what I did wrong (http://www.mediafire.com/download/600z3bil8cl3t45/ShiftHelm.rar)

I also made a modification to the mod.xml file in the heirloom pack Mods folder (this was to separate the unloomed model of the hat with the loomed model of the hat). I added a single entry under replace_models that would replace itm_imodbits_lordly_chapel_de_fer_mail1 with chapel-de-fer_mail1_h4 (chapel-de-fer_mail1_h4 being the name of +3 hat in the resource brf i added).

If he wants the original heirloom pack there is a link for that in the main post. If he wants to get rid of the heirloom pack simply click repair at the cRPG launcher.

Really? Ewwww. But ok, you'll just have to rename everything with _h4, _h3, and _h2 to _h1. So it would be like this...

itm_cudgel Cudgel Cudgel 1 cudgel_h4 to itm_cudgel Cudgel Cudgel 1 cudgel_h1

I recommend getting Notepad++ or use and edit the mod.xml in the final boss folder.

So as i was saying i used this heriloom pack for a year and everything worked fine, i had to reinstall whole game cuse it fucked up something, so now when i reinstalled everything i cant see any model of crossbow,s i tried redownloading , reinstllaing crpg and whole game , also i followed all steps copy-paste resoruces and textures and installing in crpg folder but none of that worked.

Here is the screenshot , you can see on this guy back , he actually has a crossbows on his back but instead of it there is some white pointer,i can see animation and bolts and no crossbows as a weapon ,it might be missing LOD but i ahve no idea how to fix it. so im offering 50k gold who helps me fix it. thanks

Here it is, should work now. What it does is simply leave the xbow textures as vanilla, while allowing everything else.

My problem was actually later fixed with one of the big patches, not sure why.

I recreantly loomed my Long Voulge, was hoping for some fancy loom texture but got so disappointed when I saw it didn't have one. So now hear I stand begging you to make a loom texture for the Long Voulge, take your chance to fulfil a guys dream :)

Haven't reinstalled but I am the same issue
Also I don't know if it was clever wordplay or not but when I install the pack it says something along the lines of
"Installation complete with errors" when it finishes

Why does the Spathion look so bad & different when unloomed?
I rather liked the default one, however it doesn't really look like a whole lot could be done to "Final Boss" it, which could be your reasoning?
Anyway, would it be possible for you to make it less painful for one's eyes?

My module.ini file is fine. At the top is says module_name = cRPG with nothing in the way : (

Odd. Have you tried uninstalling the heirloom pack/repairing cRPG/reinstalling the heirloom pack?

For me, Nehvar's tip was my exact issue. My module.ini looked something like this:

m<final boss lines>
<final boss lines>
<final boss lines>
<final boss lines>
odule_name = cRPG

If they add it, it should be as a tickable option on startup, never forced, since it affects performance for people with low ram (have to buffer 4 weapons instead of 1) and sometimes slightly affects fps (which can be awful for borderline cases)

I think there are only a few weapons that don't have a texture, the estoc, flambard, and crusader sword are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I think the best way for them to implement these textures into the game and have it be fair with people who don't want to have the heirloom models is to add a check box in the crpg launcher so that if you want the heirloom textures just check the box and it downloads it for you, if not leave the box unchecked, I believe they are able to do this since they have a check box for whether or not you would like to run wse2 or not.

Looks awesome! The "crusader symbol" idea was probably bad anyway, since most of their historical iconography later got requisitioned by hate groups. Gold is a bit "flashy", but I suppose I could always edit the item_kinds.txt file to make my +3 show the +2 texture (if I knew how to do that). Gold is probably more historically accurate though.

I bought some stones to show my support, I hope others contribute as well.

It was very hard starting out with no real knowledge like I did, but then after awhile you learn the basics. You only learn to basics through hard, tedious work that makes you pull your hair out. Texturing was a little hard, coding was easy, and learning how to properly implement things like making the sword come out of the sheath was kinda hard too. After you learn the basics though it's just very time consuming.

Get openBRF, Wings3d or Blender, Photoshop cs2 (it's sort of free now), and the NVidia .dds plugin for photoshop cs2. Then look up some tutorials.

I'm making an official statement here, armor will never get retextured by me, way too hard and too much work. Sorry. Shields and horses might be a different story.

The result doesn't matter if you are only at the stage of experimentation, I would just like to see what kind of ideas you have, whether they get spikes on all ends or their dung becomes gold, I'm just interested ;)

Try adding some scars or extra decoration, like embroidered belts and a more "fierce" look to them, instead of the normal dead stare they have.

please switch download to a .zip file which any windows machine can handle natively, instead of needing an additional program .rar program. 

I have WinRar, but should be common sense to store your file in the default/obvious/easiest format for everyone.

Rar and 7z are comon in the modding community.

As of November 7th I have officially stopped working on this mod. If anyone would like to pick this mod up they may do so. All the materials that you need are available right from the download link. You may need other things like modeling software, openBRF, etc.

I get an access violation after clicking "Play cRPG" in the main menu.  Coincidentally there is a "map data" screen with background artwork between the main menu screen and the server list screen that I never knew existed before this error.

If I update the last version (v2 4-28-14) of finalboss' mod.xml with your new lines as well as copying over the new 2H brf and install that way it works fine.  Did you make changes to the install.exe?

I didn't change the install.exe. The way I updated the pack is the way you copied the files. I just overwrote the old 2h brf and added a few new lines of code into the xml file. I'm not sure what your problem is, then again i'm not that tech savvy.

It works now though?

Did you guys put the item kinds.txt that was in the folder into your warband also, because that might've been the problem. I will upload a version without that, and we will see if there is still a problem.

In the patch of destiny some names got changes, for example bec +3 was masterwork or something, but it is now mighty at +3, so if he hasn't already Jarold needs to update the pack with the changed names
If you don't want to wait you can do it yourself, it's really easy. PM me if you want to do that :)

I noticed an error message in the installer log this time around.  It seems that all entries of the *fleur_de_lys* need to be renamed to *raylin_fleur_de_lys*.

Yes there is

Open the Heirloom models file, keep going until you get to  a point where there is a "copy" file and a mod.xml

Open the mod.xml, I use notepad for this

Then delete all the lines that are not bows and arrows, e.g.      <replace_model item_id="itm_dagger_swup" model_id="long_dagger_h1"  model_id2="long_dagger_scabbard_h1"/>

Anyone else can use this to remove models heirloom models and stay with original

Just know that every weapon except for these and any new ones added since then, are modified. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. It's quite an undertaking though, especially if you're like me who has no texturing, modelling, or coding experience at all and had to jury rig and improvise as I went lol (Don't even get me started on getting scabbard to work correctly in openBRF *shivers*). Sadly, my interest has died out in this mini mod for this amazing crpg mod. Maybe someday the fire might be relit..... maybe...  :cry:

However, if it is just a minor coding improvement (or something massive...) for something simple (or complex....), feel free to upload a corrected version and if it works I will post it on the OP. Good luck!
