big decisions ahead everyone, wondering what your choosing. seems to me mele weapon hierlooms generally suck now, and armour is probably more worth it. of course shield, horse and bow/xbow hierlooms are still good if you use those
-
First Katana, then Lamellar Vest, then Black Hood.
I'm a traditionalist. Deal with it. 8-)
-
My great maul to mighty then my armor.

Wut? Ansatshua or whatever he was called again loomed his robes, that's what I call someone who sticks to his style =).
I'm thinking of actually looming a horse instead of my lance, looming damage bonus is so low on masterwork, that I don't even think it's worth the trouble.
But which horse to pick? The cute Sarranid Horse? The Cataphract horse? Or my beloved Plated Charger?
-
Traditionalist, in that, that's what I have always heirloomed. No big decisions for me.

This:
Mail gauntlets
Strong bow
Arrows
Bodkin Arrows
Longsword
Miaodao
Warbow or Longbow or Middle Eastern Helmet
Mameluke Mail
Cavalry Robe
New 1h/2h sword they are developing that takes up 1 slot

Hey, having a weapon which is good at seppuku.
-
Hey, having a weapon which is good at seppuku.
If they'd animate that in, you'd never see me without a wakizashi.
-
You got one try a round.
-
Help me, guys.
I am a Steel Shielder, 12/24 str/agi build.
I was planning to heirloom Steel Shield, but I am not sure if it's worth it :/
Well I am sure I won't heirloom any weapon ANYMORE unless it's Sniper Crossbow (the only weapons I can play with and heirlooming which didn't get nerfed), but since last patch, I am not "feeling" the crossbow shoting flow anymore (= can't hit a shit) + rain nerfs my crossbow almost always when I am playing with it (bad luck). Why not 1handers for my shielder? Because I use many different weapons: Steel Pick, Elite Scimitar, Broad 1h Battle Axe + Steel shield every round. And weapons' heirlooms are not worth it anymore...
On the other hand, back to the Steel Shield:
And according to this http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,965.msg12265.html#msg12265 (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,965.msg12265.html#msg12265), these are prepatch heirloom stats:
Steel Shield
body armor: 69

hit points: 225
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
Thick Steel Shield
body armor: 71

Reinforced Steel Shield
body armor: 73

shield width: 31
Masterpiece Steel Shield
body armor: 75
difficulty: 6
hit points: 329
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
***
According to website info, these are current heirloom stats:
Steel Shield
body armor: 74
difficulty: 6
hit points: 236
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
Thick Steel Shield
body armor: 76
difficulty: 6
hit points: 273
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
Reinforced Steel Shield
body armor: 79

speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
Masterpiece Steel Shield
body armor: 82
difficulty: 6
hit points: 331
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
Hmm... Its basic version AND its heirloomed versions are better than prepatch. Temptating...
BTW, I heard it is always good to heirloom gloves (Kesh said it), but I am often switching armor from light (blue tunic, blue hood, etc.) to heavy (Kuyak, Wisby Gauntlets, etc.) so I don't think heirlooming an armor is a good choice for me.
Steel Shield? Risk an armor? Risk a weapon?
PS I have gen 2, so it is hard decision for me - I can chose only 1 item to heirloom for 1gen bonus!
-
I'd say heirloom your favourite weapon first Dravic, in the end killing your opponent wins the fight, not standing behind your shield taking hits.
-
But I use sooo many of them (3 on daily basis - that's a lot for me, because again, I can chose only first stage of heirlooming bonus for only 1 thing)
I am almost sure Steel Shield is the way to go, but what do other people think...?
-

Mate, I got 3 lances I use, and a heck of a lot of sidearms. On top of that I got the pike and long pike. Still I loomed my heavy lance.
I too use a variety of weapons, but in the end I use one weapon the most: the quarterstaffheavy lance. So ill loom that one.
-
But you see, I use different weapons for different situations.
Axe to break shields, Steel Pick to pierce armored opponents, Elite Scimitar when I fight agile, light armored opponents (extra length kills them)
That's why I don't want to chose a one weapon now, because I use every weapon +/- 33% of time, depending on situation.
-
Again:
MW NCS
MW Huscarl
Not decided for either MW Bow or Lordly Armor.

Out of those weapons, I'd say the elite scimitar is the weapon youll want to use most. It's the most versatile weapon out of the bunch.
Now help me, heirloom any of the three horses or my heavy lance? :P

With only 1 heirloom wouldnt recommend a melee weapon as for most that only gives +1 damage (though if you are planning on retiring 2 more times and use that 1 item a lot without getting bored then maybe melee as third heirloom is decent). I don't know about you, but using the non-heirloomed steel shield was still nearly unbreakable for me, maybe doing a faster, wider shield, which by heirlooming comes closer to the same level of durability as the steel shield? Also, light xbow, triple heirloomed is pretty good with pierce damage, it may take an extra shot or 2 to kill compared to masterwork sniper xbow but it reloads very fast for people with wpf. I like the mail gauntlets for being a good balance between cost, weight nerf (especially for archery) and protection, but if you change your hand armors a lot don't do it.
In your case I would seriously consider the plate covered shield (14 speed faster than the steel shield but same coverage, heirlooming would get it closer to same durability) or the huscarl (overused) and heavy board shield as they have much wider area of protection and with heirlooming have very good durability with about 20 speed faster than steel shield. Don't know about you, but i actually would do the heavy round shield as its faster than all those, good area of coverage, 1 slot shield and with triple heirlooming very good durability.

I would recommend waiting for next hotfix/patch to see what they do to horses before committing your heirloom points as there will not be another respec. For a cav guy I would pick my favorite horse as the heirloom boost is probably the best in game right now for horses. I don't know your style of play, but I previously did the cataphract (think heavily armored arabian horse with triple heirlooming) for horse archering and maneuverability/survivability and the courser for lancing/anti-cav/couching. Also, how much money do you make too is a factor, wearing light armor do the better horses, expensive armor and weapons go arabian instead of cataphract or courser depending on playstyle.
-
Hmm, Kesh, finally someone who has something interesting to say.
Well, I won't heirloom anything without good (+/- 10 from Steel Shield's one) resistance, because I have high shield skill to make high shield's resistance even higher ;)
I am sure I won't heirloom Plate Covered Round Shield, because, well, it looks ugly and it is much worse than Steel Shield. I am sure, that with such stats:
Masterpiece Steel Shield
body armor: 82
difficulty: 6
hit points: 331
speed rating: 61
shield width: 31
even with 8 shield skill it will last LOOONG.
And I agree, that heirlooming weapons as 2gen character is senseless, I don't have time to grind it to MW in nearest 3 months ;)
Steel Shield, then? I love to keep my shield up :D

Hmm Vicious, you had a Masterpiece Steel Shield - tell me, is it worth heirlooming? Especially with 8 shield skill?

a lot, imho steel shield will be probably best item i will loom, followed by armor
basically i lose items i not where using anyway.. like my ms eslavona, the mameluk champion etc.

In the NA there was a guy witht he name ShieldSpam with 10 shield skill, I have a feeling your shield would never get broken with triple heirloom and 8 shield skill except by the rare guy with triple heirloomed great long axe 10 powerstrike swinging 10 times or more at your shield. I do feel that heavy board shield has almost the same durability just by its sheer mass of hitpoints (600 with unheirloomed version) and a wider area of coverage with faster speed, might be worth trying out before you set your heirlooms.
-

IMo the Sarranid is the best horse atm. But The Armoured horses are very interesting at Champion stage.
-
Longbow, warbow, bodkins... and since my melee choices were taken from me... booohooohooo... I WILL heirloom my woolen cap. YES.
-
Hmmm... as a cav hiding behind a heater shield msot of the time, gonig on foot on some maps and when i pplay with inf from my clan - should i loom armor (Light Kuyak) or Glaive? (3*looming)

Tried it some time ago (actually, prepatch).
It doesn't have good resistance, so shield skill is not giving too much with such a shield. It's hp is important vs axe, yes, but, unlike steel shield (to which weapons without bonus against shields do almost no harm), board shield doesn't reduce to 1dmg/hit normal weapons dmg :)
Vicious, I waited for your post. Now I am sure, I will heirloom Steel Shield ;)

If that is your only choice, go glaive, no point in going for the armour at all.
-
If that is your only choice, go glaive, no point in going for the armour at all.
spend some time planning build and items and stuff so it will be good and fit my theme :D (very important). therefore i will not change any items, the only question is what to heiloom (got 10 heirloomns, will loom lance+horse+glaive/armor)
-
Since all you wow players gets to keep your 50 heirlooms without any punishment and start looming armors ill use all 3 looms on my great maul so i can still crush you even if its only 4 extra dmg :P.
-
nomnom pike
Also, maybe mail gauntlets... then lamellar vest... perhaps.
-
Longsword and Greatsword for sure. Not sure about armors and that stuff.
-
Can i heirloom my exp per gen so i can retire more often and not get bored with the game not being able to change my playstyle more than once every 2-3 weeks ? lol...
-
My charger
-
even though i'll go cav next gen i'll loom my dear long maul 8-)

I honestly wanted to continue with the german... but looking at the the 2h swords now it jsut seems, pointless. We'll see.

Go german poleaxe instead of sword??
-
was planning to heirloom langes messer but its still invisible so I dont know.....
-
@Dravic
Steel Shield, then? I love to keep my shield up :D
Imho it's a good idea to heirloom a shield as shielder... if it breaks often. If it does not break... dont heirloom it.
You can recognize each level of heirlooming... I had a mw brown heater and a thick huscarl.
I am not sure about the steel shield cause of its coverage and speed. If you fight against shield breaker hitpoints are important, not body armor. So imho plate covered is not so good (only 178) hitpoints.
The huscarl has a great coverage and good amount of hitpoints (same as brown heater). Important for heirlooming is imho the speed... heirlooming increases hitpoints and body armor, not speed.
But if you are happy with your steel shield... use it... and heirloom it. Imho much better than +1 damage of a weapon.
-
My great maul to mighty then my armor.
Sooo cute kitten <3
-
Im moving from the Long Hafted Blade to the Hafted Blade. :D
-
i m gonna loom chadz's boy friend's dick , some one gotta fu*k em better . cuz of his dissatisfaction we constantly get raped :|
-
I am going to heirloom the exact same stuff...
-
Heraldic with tabard - lordly
Plate mittens - whatever the firstloom is calked
A 2h sword to masterwork
No further retirements planed since I got gifted with 9 mil. Xp yesterday...
Somebody should start a poll regarding highland claymore.
"Time till item gets nerfed"
Having the younger item nerfing policy in mind I wont go for claymore allthough its stats are really nice, maybe too nice.
Thats where the traditionalists kicks in, mw cookies/danish...
Beloved beauty i played for what? 700 hours xD...

Well the stats are fine, the problem lies in the fact that the Great Long Bardiche and Flamberge only deal 2 more damage, while being much slower. While their polearm animations give them only a small amount of range more than the claymore. While the claymore has much more speed.
Courser is probably the safest horse heirloom, idk what will happen to the Sarranid at all. The Heavily Armoured ones are simply not worth it for their cost and stats.
-
Gonna heirloom a MW knightly arming sword and a master piece heavy board shield on my main for the style.
Polearm alt: 2x heirloomed war spear/quarterstaff (haven't decided yet)
Thrower: haven't decided yet. Most likely javelins or war darts.

I'm thinking about the highland claymore aswell, the model is awesome. But the stabbing kinda sucks :(
My second alternative is Sword of War.

Yeah same, my normal Danish kinda sucks ass now. And highland claymore seems to be one of the only decent 2h swords left.

Actually the danish got away easy compared to the german. Danish might be a choice aswell.
A triple heirloomd greatmaul

A triple heirloomd greatmaul
Yeah ofc, the so called lol-stab wasent because of the danish sword mostly. It was the german which were the major problem :P. So ofc it doesnt get nerfed as hard. But compared to the other weapons, it still had a hard nerf. :(

Shields and horses heirlooms are going to be scaled down to couple with the new weapon loom modifiers.

Ye, nerf armoured horses some more, they already are useless compared to light horses.
Where did you read this anyway?
-
Champ courser (already have heavy), Masterwork Knightly arming sword (already have it), and... not sure what else.
-
Masterwork Knightly arming sword
I want to get that one too for my first 1h cav gen, I take it it's recommendable then!
-
Lordly milanese plate again.
Lordly Cased greaves
Lordly plate mittens
Thick open sallet
-
Unless we have fewer than what our generations should have:
Gen 8
Masterwork Military Cleaver (as I had before)
Masterwork Crossbow (as I had way back)
Reinforced Heavy Heater Shield
Glad I never sold the old Crossbow after the last big patch and heirloom theft. It's come full circle I suppose. No matter how many nerfs they throw at me, I will continue to be Crossbow and Sword & Board. It's funny, actually. By forcing me to switch from my almost unique Heavy Board Shield to a Heavy Heater Shield, I've received a strong boost in attack speed. Of course, I'll keep my board shields for the day the devs stop hating on them again.
-
Shields and horses heirlooms are going to be scaled down to couple with the new weapon loom modifiers.
Says who??
Anyways i sure hope so since horses and shields and xbows where untouched by the loom change armor also...
Only makes sense that chadz also nerfs them like he did with weapons
-
Im not sure Tzar you know about it, but:
armors got only one stat increased with heirlooming: armor.
And it is +1 for clothes/heirloom and +2 for armors/heirloom.
How do you want to actually nerf clothes heirlooming? +0 for clothes/heirloom? and +1 for armors? are you mad?
-
Tsar seems to think the only way to make things better is to make everything worse.
-
I want to heirloom a horse on my cav character, but I can't really decide which one. I'll have 5 looms.
On regular basis, I use the rouncey, because it's cheap. But it's not that bad, mostly with 8 riding, and a champion rouncey would be as good as a courser.
But the champion courser is just crazy, even if I use this one a lot less, because of the upkeep.
Still, could choose not to loom a weapon, and loom to champion courser and spirited rouncey, but not sure it's really worth it.
Any advice from experienced cav players ?
-
I want to get that one too for my first 1h cav gen, I take it it's recommendable then!
The King uses it, of course it is!
-
Torn between heirlooming my Steppe Horse again or going for an Arabian Warhorse. Not sure which one i'll pick this time... it's tempting to go for the more expensive option and go on foot more often.
But for me first a champion horse, then a masterwork sword and then armor or shield... not sure. Been using steel shield a bit, because of the slot system. So i might not heirloom my huscarl this time.
-
I have 7 heirlooms and thought I was going to heirloom to get a MW knightly arming sword and a MP shield.
Decided I'm not going to heirloom a shield. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference since the heavy board shield is allready VERY hard to break as it is and it would make using any other shield a bit of a waste.
So instead I'm going to get a lordly heraldic mail with surcoat and thick mail gauntlets to accompany my MW knightly arming sword.
On my thrower I'm going to heirloom my throwing lance, just so I can kill Casimir with it.
-
im going to heirloom my horse(hank) again back to champion, then my knightly arming sword to master work due to 1h and being better for cav. Then my heavy lance and sniper xbow to master work, and heirloom my transitional once, maybe twice if i retire b4 the heirloom points come out.
-
WHAT? where did you get that info?
It's nothing of confirmed, but probably horse looms will gain more hp and armor and less speed and manouvrability.
Shilds will just gain a bit less hp and resistence than now, their looms are clearly broken
-
My bec again I think.
-
Lordly gauntlets
MW Highland claymore
I had a MW danish and i liked it alot, but i think ill go claymore this time for cutting power and style
-

Yeah I have to choose between steppe and arabian. I think the arabian will be nerfed, cmp said something about looking into it. but it will be ages until next patch anyway.
-
Warcleaver
Military Cleaver
X-bow (regular 1-slotter)
Steel Bolts
Swiss Halbard
-
It's a very, very difficult choice. :|
Yeah I have to choose between steppe and arabian. I think the arabian will be nerfed, cmp said something about looking into it. but it will be ages until next patch anyway.
On the one side, i can probably afford an Arabian Warhorse without losing too much money, especially if i keep retiring (i make 20-50 profit in the lower levels).
On the other side, when strategus comes back, i'm guessing having a Champion Steppe Horse might be more valuable than having a Champion Arabian Warhorse. Wild guess though. I was thinking in strategus, the Steppe Horse is going to be the preferred horse, because it's pretty good and only half the price of the arabian.
But i could be totally wrong.

i think the rouncey will be used alot. All-round stats are good for strat imo, and it can take more arrows

In strategus we don't get to use our own gear, so heirlooming has got nothing to do with it afaik.
I was planning on looming the plated charger so it will be less of a gimmick to use, since I like the sound of 39 speed. But idk, if the devs get any wild ideas they will nerf us again and Ill be fucked.
-
Mail mittens or Kuyak? what to heirloom?
-
In strategus we don't get to use our own gear, so heirlooming has got nothing to do with it afaik.
Well i heard some rumours about resources and maybe equipment creation (you know, crafting and stuff) in strategus. I am assuming that we might get to craft better quality equipment if we own it or something. I know.... i'm totally guessing and fantasizing here. Could be all wrong.

Loom the mittens if you have to choose, you can use em with other body armours. Do they give the same +armour? Than it's an even easier pick.

+2 per loom for both

It's nothing of confirmed, but probably horse looms will gain more hp and armor and less speed and manouvrability.
Shilds will just gain a bit less hp and resistence than now, their looms are clearly broken
They are WHAT? BROKEN?
You, sir, are a really idiot. Broken SHIELDS' heirlooms?
Wondering, why 90% of shielders has ALWAYS heirloomed weapons first...
-.-
Oh, wait, I know!
Because shield heirlooms were underpowered! Now when some shields got buffed (Plate Covered Round shield, Steel Shield) and are back to their power, and their heirlooms are strong enough to be WORTH heirlooming - you say heirlooms will be nerfed? :/
Again, who said that "unofficial info"?
-
Im not sure Tzar you know about it, but:
armors got only one stat increased with heirlooming: armor.
And it is +1 for clothes/heirloom and +2 for armors/heirloom.
How do you want to actually nerf clothes heirlooming? +0 for clothes/heirloom? and +1 for armors? are you mad?
+1 cloth and +1 armor???
Tsar seems to think the only way to make things better is to make everything worse.
Well it sure worked so far didnt it??
Or u still think the it was more fun where u could 1 stab people with greatswords or run around with the best of everything pre-patch shooting people left or right with hybrid builds ect ect? if your one of thoese i geuss not...

Was going to fully heirloom my katana again being a Ninja, but then had second thoughts. I will probably +3 a longsword as its only 2 or so speed slower than a katana and better in every other stat including price. Then I'll probably heirloom my Katana for style points.

Idk what to loom anymore, I'm feeling more and more nerfs coming to my class, making the few looms that I have as a casual player to be really decisive. If I loom my cataphract or my plated charger, which I almost never use because of repair costs anyway, their looms will probably get nerfed. Looming my lance is the next move, and the safest one, but I dont feel that much difference between 27 pierce and 30 pierce damage.
I'm even thinking of going back to shielder, like I was in the old crpg. Blegh.

Same ill rather wait a week or 2 before i decide.
-
Ima loom my volumptious courser.
-
I wanted to loom my Heavy Bastard Sword, my favorite weapon and what I'm building my next gen around. But with the way weapon heirlooms suck (especially 2H) I will probably go with armor instead. My favorite gear is the Green Tunic over Mail, but most people advise the Mail Mittens...
And it'll be so long before I hit 31 that I'm sure any more nerfs/changes will be finished.

Mail gauntlets - +2 body armor only .25 more weight than mail mittens, still reasonable upkeep, all the gauntlets after that jump really high in weight and price with only +1 armor at a time to compensate
-
man I have no clue, I really enjoyed playing last night without looms, and babygirl is awake just stole away to check and now I have points...what to do! chadz for god!

Yup. Mail Mittens/Mail Gauntlets are the sweet spot for cost/armor efficient heirlooming. I personally now have Lordly Hourglass Gauntlets, because I had way too much upkeep overhead and needed to burn more gold.
-
well I got champion arabian warhorse its the shit.
and an gen 2 arberlest on another char
that leaves me with 2 other chars with 1 point, but seems to me all the first gen modifers are poo so idk what to get.
-
Masterwork long espada eslanova, been struggling to have it reach masterwork since the day I bought it.
Thick Gothic Plate with Bevor with the extra point
-
Choice is done...
German Greatsword
Light Leather
Mail gauntlet
Next is probably my Rus cavalry boot, Jarids or maybe another 2h sword.
Still thinking about it.
-
I loomed Vaegir Elite armor, gold lamellar gauntlets and my highland claymore 3x. I have 3 points left that I may loom a pony or head/foot armor with. The way I see it, foot armor is ranged protection and head armor is primarily for melee blows. Maybe I'll get a mighty mallet.
-
Rocks.
Not kidding.
-
Mighty Poleaxe, Lordly Banded Armor, Lordly Hourglass Gauntlets, Thick Chapel de Fer
-
Firebomb~ I always got the feeling that if i heirloomed Firebomb 4 times it will become like C4~~
