Welcome to the Archer-Tournament



What is it ?
-This will be a tournament for all archers that want to fight with us, everybody who is archer is welcome!


Which Equip. is allowed/ Rules ?
-We will do a few Archerduels, that means that there are two archers with the same Bow & Arrows in a field and then they need to kill the other archer.
 
 .Bows                      Rus Bow, Longbow, Horn Bow
 .Arrows                   Bodkin Arrows
 .Armors                   Max. weight : 10.00
 .Boots                     Free to use
 .Gauntlets               No Heavy Gauntlets, rest is allowed
 .Head Armor            Max. weight 2.50

- STF/Alt's are allowed
- Loomed gear is allowed
- If you run out of arrows in a archerduel, you need to wait till you enemi is also out of ammo and if you both are out of arrows you need to do a meleefight.
- If your armor is heavier than allowed you are not allowed to fight
- If you paid the money and you aren't there you will not get the money back


What will we do there ?
-We will let you shot from different distance on a butt with some circles on.
-Archer-Duels in a marked field.
-And some other tasks for you!

When will it be ?
-The tournament starts on the 8th June and you need to pay the money till the 7th June.


How can I do the payment ?
- Join in this ladder with an alternat-character and pay 20.000 into the bank "Archer Tournament"
- Or accept my trades, the sellername is "Bloody_Kathrin"

How can I join the tournament ?
- Write me a PM and I will add you to a list, I will contact you back and say again what to do.
- If you are on a list you need to pay 20.000 Gold.


Prices ?
- The pricemoney for the winner will be 300k
- The second price will be 200k
- The thrid price will be 100k

Isn't this bad? The person with the most wpf should win also what date do you have in mind for this?

No meleefights at an Archer-Tournament :)

If you go out of arrows you and your enemi too, you both will lose.

I said 20 k too much as price for sign up to the tournament ... because rewards are strange ^^ 300 k is good , the photoshooting is ... strange and the rondel dagger cost nothing ...

You should make prices like:

A loom for 1 st
250 k for 2nd
100 k for 3rd

And then , a lot of archers will join  :)

I want this tournament to be really epic and to have different archery disciplines as well. Its not about who is "the best" archer here, its also about who is "the best" at certain discipline. There are archers who are amazing against stationary targets no matter the ranges, others excel in shooting moving targets, some are the death of cavalry, others are fierce castle defenders, and there are those who are nightmare when they attack a castle. Lets see who those guys are. Can it be a single archer that is master of all of those disciplines or are we specialized in certain way? I say lets find out!
Here is what i suggest!
I have already made a map for Quincy Clan trainings and i can make a special map for this tournament. Here are 2 screen shots of an archery range that can be found on the training map:

This archery range features flat terrain, and "real" targets. So instead of having those hay targets with circles i made humanoid targets to have Quincy archers train properly. Also you might notice white lines on the ground. Each line represents 10m distance increment. So the archery range starts at 10m range and goes up to 90m (or 100 yards if u like). When we (Quincy archers) are practicing we have a simple set of rules that works well for us. Everyone shoots 5 arrows. Who made the least hits is out. Rest of the archers move 10m further, and again 5 arrows are shot and we repeat the process until the last archer standing. Those rules might not be good for the tournament but we can change them to suit our needs. We could make a point system so that each range gives different points and head shots might give more. But we can discuss the details if you like the idea in general.

This would represent the stationary target competition that is in the same level of the archer, or in other words, battle simulation where u see a guy that is not moving and u try to take him down.

I would also suggest other 2 scenarios:

The left part of the picture is already explained. The right side is a bit different. So 1st discipline on the right side would be shooting targets that are on the higher ground than the archers, basically siege attack simulation, and the red arrow represents swap of positions, so archers take higher ground and start shooting the targets below them.

For moving targets we would need to use... eeer... how to phrase this... THE CHOSEN ONES that would run around in the pattern we choose. Basically just run/ride in one direction and see who is the best hitting the moving targets. This isnt about dodging arrows this is about anticipating the position of the target and skill to hit that target. So no random movement like infantry usually does vs archers, its a competition after all ;)

Not possible with current game mechanics. We would need to edit python files to add moving targets (or the ones that "jump out" of bushes), or in other words to make a mod mod for cRPG. And it would be hard to coordinate players to be those targets.

Having played on the map my problem was that i kept forgetting which target i was aiming for :D

I suggest you add some lines towards the targets as well En_Dotter so that it is easier to keep focused.

I think you need bigger targets if you want to be sure it isn't luck, trust me, me and jtobiamse together with lennu and thomas could not hit those targets when we got far enough, 3 lines away from the end or something

I know about that problem. For some reason some arrows ghost through the targets but i will fix that. I will add different hittable things. Basically i will replace those stakes with wooden boards and use the same humanoid models to represent targets. In that way i think we will avoid those lame ghost arrows. ;)

EDIT: Someone mentioned its hard to remember the target. I will fix that as well. I will add some things that will help ppl know what they are shooting at ;)

One more suggestion. I dont like that limit of 8kg for armor. If you wanna limit the armor do max effective armor weight. My body armor is 9.1, but my effective armor weight is 9.7. Effective armor weight for 10kg gives u no archery penalty so maybe limit it to 10 in total. For those who might not know the way to calc the effective weight: 1xBody + 1xLeg + 2xHead +4Hand. I love my lamellar vest!!!!! I dont wanna wear something else man! :D

My old native clan used a mod where the accuracy of the shot on each target was factored by distance to the center, and then added to the main score.

As much as i would like to join this i wont even though the money are calling :D
You have some good ideas and i would like to give a hand.

Take in consideration different aspects of archery.

Right now you seem only focusing on wpf and ability to hit and not how good would he do on a battlefield.
But as it is a competition i will give it to you that what you have initiated seems good.

I know what mod u are talking about but that wont do it. Its based on native warband and this is cRPG. So no point competing there, we are cRPG nerfed archer pros!

Yeah, i read it to so i made a armor set that weight just below 10 but when i discust it in the clan-ts multipel people (daveuk was one) told me it was around 6,6 and my feeling said the same (felt as if i was less accurate).

We ran out of arrows and never tried the further targets since the game was how many distances can you complete with 24 arrows.  With a spotter telling you if you'd hit or not I think the further targets are perfectly possible.  The problem for us was that we kept having to run closer to see if we'd hit and we'd therefore lose the use of our previous shots for reference.

I have asked Lothar for permission to use HRE_Fallen_Training server for the tournament. We just need the exact time and date for it and no problem. I told him it should be on the 8th of June. He will upload any map we need for this purpose.

If the tournament is about shooting headshots to the spawning enemies during strat battle, then steevee has already won.

Here are the preliminary screen shots of future tournament map. Only 2 target shooting areas are there with no cosmetics. This can be changed anyway if the tests show its not good. This is just to tease u a bit and give u something to think about ;)

I think i'm free this saturday so i should be able to join - sign me up. How will the duels be held? is it archer vs archer or shoot at longrange distances? Reason i'm asking is because if it's longrange range targets that's standing still i need to find a MW long bow since they are superior in all ways when you don't have to dodge anything ;P
