Title: New EU 1 Rotation Map
Post by: darmaster on May 06, 2013, 10:58:09 pm
i'm not really in the mood to type much (as always), so i'll go straight to the point: this rotation seems really bad to me, and i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one thinking so; not only some of the maps sucks, but some are still bugged, and many are unbalanced. i think i know what you think, and i think you know that i know what you think, but still, discuss.

P.S. i also don't think changing map rotation requires that much; you won't have any excuses    C:§

>Village
>Field
>Another Village
>Another field but with trees!
>Ooooh a city we must be getting somewhere
>Another damn field
>Back to village
>Stupid fields getting tired of your shit
>Damn these peasants can't they ever re-build their villages
>Screw these fields
>Burn the village!
>Set fire to the grass lads!
>Ah yes a city good, BURN IT
>FUCKING FIELDS

^General EU rotation, i often rage quit after seeing fields...im such an innocent vulnerable player

Where's the random maps where you have underground dungeons, some sky-diving experience to see who can survive, or some epic maze that turns it into a complete clusterfuck

Gone for the sake of "realism." Then someone mistook "realism" for boring, and coupled with a severe deficiency of mapmakers means we have this odd rotation.

Maps with maze-like layouts and other gimmicks are fun once or twice. After that, it's tedious as hell to play though them. However, there are quite a few decent non-village, non-plains maps.

There is like 5+ maps waiting to be added, and a few more with updates that would also need to be added. (Or at least there would be updates if it didn't take 3 months for the map rotation to be altered.)

Less cities and corridors plz, playing hide and seek is only fun for a select few.

Sounds like you just got "upgraded" to the NA1 rotation.  Enjoy.  It's loads of fun /SARCASM.

ut2004 onslaught had the most fair map rotation.  every round end had a votemap where everyone could see each others votes and change their vote at any time before a timer ran out.

the last ~15 or so maps that had been played were greyed out and unvoteable.

naturally we aren't ever going to get this, but just pointing out the best map rotation system for large playercount games with shitloads of maps.

P.S. i don't really think changing map rotation requires that hard work, you won't have any excuses    C:§

It's fiendishly hard due to the retarded method of map data being spread out over several locations.

when I play it's like this:

ruins
village
village
field by the river
village
open plain --> map poll: change to ruins
.
.
.

Can't we have plains without rivers or mountains ?

Some native maps will be good in the rotation, we already got Ruined Castle and Ruins, but Nord Town, Port Assault are good maps though

In my opinion maze maps are very nice. I remember one maze map which had a whole underground complex to play in, and with any number of players, everyone had a load of fun in there. Then there was a map with a little cave in the centre of the map inside a hill, a watchtower on the side of the hill... that was a great map, but it's now gone.

I think the maps we have now are boring. There's just no room for anything else than charging at each other... you can't even maneuver. I say that after playing those maps for a long time, you get pretty damn bored of just fighting with a load of pissed off players insulting each other, trolling, etc. we need different maps as part of keeping the players entertained and off the keyboard.

Issue with mazes is imo that it'll 99% of the time end with one guy not being found for several minutes.

Yeah, that's the problem with maze maps, on the other hand it can also be entertaining. Maybe people need to ease down a little, allow that guy the time he needs to kill his opponents? This is based on what I usually see on maps, the angry gamers who want to maximize their efforts. IMO it's selfish for them, and selfish for the guy who is slowing the game down. Still, I think it should be a part of the occasional game, so that one guy can use his environment to kill larger groups of enemies as well. It would bring another element into the game, stronger than before.

All the new native maps should be implemented as well

San'di Bush (pun is intended)
That new Snowy map

And several others they use in the ENL are really enjoyable

so let me say this: as infantryman i LOVE villages, but you guys, wow, you managed to get in the rotation map shit villages.

now ofc we can't get only what we like, but many complain about this rotation, and they did so for long, too long: do something please.

I would be glad if there were more maps in rotation to have more variety. I know a lot really good maps which I played months ago, which arent playsed anymore and I wonder why..For example there was this desert map with many small lakes and islands with bushes, which is one of my favourite maps..
