The current animation glances a lot unless used with precision and skill. Even then it glances.
I'm suggesting we get a new animation. The animation I would suggest is the one in my video...

And yes you can aim where to stab. Also the stab may seem fast due to me having 500 wpf in the video. :lol:

yes you can, and ive used it before it is really effective. though I would say its almost too effective. kinda does an instastab thing when ur really close. however i have never tested it with really low prof. would be nice to finally have a decent 1 hand animation though.

Agreed. When a 1hander gets up in a pikemans face and glances on the thrust, and the pikeman just jumps back and 360 pokes without glancing, that's a problem.

The visual portion of the current 1h animation looks sweet, it's just the wonky hitbox (way to the right of the actual thrust) and tiny sweetspot that make it terrible. I'm fine with glancing at max range, but a short sword should be able to stab a guy that's facehugging you, without having to resort to crazy spinthrust maneuvers.
The OP's animation would look better with hoplite spears I think.

One hand stabs are really good now with the new turn speed. If you are still glancing, its your own fault, or you are playing on a server that hasn't implemented the changes yet.

Well, NA siege doesn't have it yet, but I remember how it was before the turn speed nerf. Just spin to the left violently while thrusting, and it would land. It's just silly that you have to do some unrealistic craziness, when actually pointing your sword and the guy and stabbing still glances. 2h and pole already abuse the "thrust past target, drag into them for full damage" BS, I don't want to join them.
Every aspect of the combat mechanics should be encouraging people to actually face each other when they fight, and aim their attacks at each other, simply because it looks right. If they need to raise combat speed so you can actually land hits this way, so be it.

NA siege has the turn rate change now, and I can safely say 1h thrust is quite good now. Spin fast to the left, and it won't glance.

The stun when your stab gets blocked is still in, just fyi, so stab is still somewhat less viable than other attacks.

It looks much less weird which is good, but it's a fair bit sneakier than the other swings; much harder to see and it is very fast. In my opinion stabs should deal supreme damage with most weapons but should be harder to hit them with, as in they should be slower but still easy to aim. Stab block stun is a disgusting idea. Having to spin to hurt people with a stab sucks.

Well the reason the stab looks fast is because I have 500 wpf in that game. :lol:

Every weapon class has stun on the stab if its blocked. Since the spin2win buff, I would say atleast 60-70% of my kills are with stabs. Then again I am using a +3 side sword, so it is designed to stab.

Hmm, i would like to extend this suggestion.
Just keep the old "long" stab und sacrifice the overhead swing for a new short stab from below.

Hoplite mode spears should get the two different stabs, but I'm rather fond of the 1h overhead, don't want to give that up (probably because my sword is 37 cut but only 23 thrust). 1h overhead is crazy good now with the turn rate change.

i played NI sometimes and even after 3 month i didnt get used to that...
i dont like this animation and i would not like to have it in crpg...

It still conects quite randomly for me.

Yeah, but I feel like for every phantom overhead whiff, I get a phantom hit that didn't look like it should have landed. Same with thrust actually.

In the sense of shielders having to get up close it would make sense to give them a short quick up-jab into someones stomach. Not to mention the realism factor. The animation is good too. Good find Jarold.

Except 1h is gimped at all ranges...but if the animation gaurenteed a no glance thrust throughout the entire animation. It would be awesome.

Even with the broad short sword I still get the stab jam fail from time to time.
Sometimes its unavoidable in cluster fighting where its thickest. Which in turn limits your attacks already to overhand or stab only to avoid team damage.
Many of the "best" 1h players prefer to use weapons with no stab at all because they don't trust the animation.
My only concern with replacing the 1h animation is that it needs to be the same speed and have the same ending distance on the thrust as those aspects effect item balance.
The original animation imo would be better for stabbing to the face but the glancing aspect of it sucks.

That stab is one of the many reasons I stopped playing nord invasion. please don't make me look like an old cripple.
