Title: Nostalgia Trip
Post by: Tom Cruise on March 10, 2013, 08:12:35 pm
So lately I've been wanting to play all of the games of old because 1. You have a nostalgia overload that just brings back so many memories of a great game. and 2. Frankly, they just dont make games like they used to IMO. Most games dont have any originality or creativity as they used to.

So what did I do? Bought myself a PS2 and made a list of games that I wanted to buy. Here is that list of games.

Ones that I have ordered already:

Champions of Norrath

Coloseum: Road to Freedom

Kessen 1+2

Spartan: Total Warrior

Heroes of the Pacific

Drakengard 1

Gundam: Federation vs Zeon

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

The rest of the list that I need to order still:

Champions: Return to Arms

Final Fantasy X

Freedom Fighters

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

Mercenaries: playground of destruction

Prince of Persia(s)

Rogue Galaxy

Shadow fo the Colossus

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

Mortal Kombat: Deception

Aliens Vs Predator: Extinction

Drakengard 2

Grandia 3

Test Drive: Eve of Destruction

Chaos Legion

Anyone else been wanting to play the oldies lately or have old systems/old games?

My biggest Nostalgia Trip will be the AoE II remake once it´s released.Damn, I had good times with it.An AoE I remake would also be cool, but Im fine with any remake at all, really. There are soooo many awesome games that should be re-released with slightly polished graphics and such, I wish Developers and Publishers would realise that.New games are all cooll and stuff, but there are just classics which cant be topped

Age of Kings? Ya that was really my first PC game that I played the shit out of. That game was awesome. My friend has a ps3 and we also got the Jak and Daxter hd collection and Ratchet and Clank hd collection. Even more nostalgia! :D

Man, this thread reminds me that I'm approaching "old" status. The only one of these I feel any nostalgia for is Champions of Norrath, though this is when I had graduated high school/started working. A friend of mine had it/it's expansion one summer and a four man group of us would spend like 10pm until the sun came up playing until the day when disaster struck. Another friend came over to play while we slept and wound up saving over all of our files, ending forever the great war of Those Are MY Boots '05.

Forking Rhalzo wants me to ask why you don't have any Metal Gear Solid on here.

I never sold any of my games. Ever. Even the horrible ones. And I still got a PS2 in pristine state. Last I used it was 5 years ago though.

Seriously, how could you get rid of Star Ocean 3 without being forced to ?

Call me whatever you guys want, but I satisfy my NES needs with emulators.

Also hunting down games is hard, I don't remember their names.

I have SNES, U jelly? Many super mario versions. Even the lost levels hardcore shit. Originally only released in Japan because it was "too hard" for westerners (or that's what I've heard). I wish I had Contra tho... I have SNES Doom, it is some serious shit I tell you :D.

Well true, emulators can't beat the real experience of playing on the actual console and original game cartridge. But I'm not going to search wide and far to find a SNES and a couple of games. I know of a store close by who might have one though :D

Emulators got nice things such as less pixely visuals, save states and other things, though. As well as online play, if you can find someone else :)

Y U NO KNOW NOSTALGIA?!!

For me the biggest part of nostalgia comes from the moment when you blow the dust out of those old cartridges and clean up the console before even starting the game. Emulator spoils the fun :D.

Oh, i know plenty of nostalgia from 1995 DOS games. '98 was way better, though.

I recently got an NES from a friend with a few games. I pulled out the instructions to set it up, I laughed so hard when it had instructions on how to set it up with an Antenna TV . I forgot how much super Mario 2 sucked compared to 1 and 3.
