Title: Diversity for Lances

Decided that I should post this idea in it's own thread. There it goes:

I will do a small analysis and post my reasoning to do this suggestion. If you do not want to do a bit of reading, you can skip this part. It's really common knowledge.

My suggestion would be replicating the stats of light lance, lance and heavy lance:

Blunt Lance
Speed: 82
Length: 180
Thrust: 26 blunt
Swing: 16 blunt
Difficulty: 9
Couchable
Knockdown (Not sure about this feature)

Lance (Same as the old lance)
Speed:85
Length:180
Thrust:28 pierce
Swing:16 blunt
Difficulty:10
Couchable

Heavy Lance
Speed:77
Length:180
Thrust:28 pierce
Swing:17 blunt
Difficulty: 11
Bonus against Shield
Couchable

If any of you disagree with my ideas about the current lances or didn't like the ones I posted; please say so. This is just an idea. If those changes would mess a cavalry player, then I'll reconsider it. I just left the regular lance as it is on purpose, to not bring any changes to people's game experience. Some people might have been against the idea of a change to a weapon that they are using. As it would require them to adapt their timing with the lance. Since it is the most common one, just leave it as it is. Change the ones that aren't used much. Was my philosophy.

All I see is a strictly superior lance being compared to a strictly inferior lance.

I may not know much, but from my very recent times trying out lance cav...I seem to see all three lances very often. With the heirloom pack installed I can easily tell the differences between the three. (Black vs Orange, Large spear head vs small spear head) I also have had varying degrees of success versus all when using a light lance myself. Sometimes I win the jousts due to my superior stab speed, sometimes I end up with a unicorn for a horse because I couldn't reach far enough. Lances are fine.

I've also noticed that no longer heavy lancers are the god tier of cav. Given that that placement for lances has been removed, I think the current situation is fairly balanced.

I'm suspecting that there may be a typo in the Original Post, perhaps you can review and edit it? The first two lances don't strike me as balanced.

Oh yeah you are right. I did them in a bit of hurry. I was focused on replacing the current lances. Didn't give that much thought into the new ones. These were merely examples to give a general idea, be honest. Please post your own ideas, or give your try to balance my suggestions. I'm thinking to add a poll when the idea is fully established with the help of community.

what would be the point of a heavy lance with same dmg and same length as the lance but slower speed? Bonus against shield isnt worth that

Hmm I have thought of that. A good idea though, but couldn't be sure. As slower speed also might mean more damage (to my knowledge), and damage is the most looked ability in lances overall. It could have make the other lances comparatively less useful. Not exactly sure though.

By the way, I don't think we should limit ourselves to 3 lances only. Keep those ideas coming and together we can form a very good suggestion.

Blunt stabs can't rear horses. You still want knockdown on stab?

Iron staff hoplite is entirely viable, and in fact very fucking good. Hoplite is about the purest support class there is; few things are more supportive to your team than a good ole' knockdown. Carry a fauchard for anti-cav and BAM, good class!

Haha I truly forgot about infantry using lances. Overall 82 damage is slow enough, so no worries there I think.

Just make +0 heavy glance 25 pierce and when it's +3 (28p), it's something that you can live with. Currently 23 pierce at +0 is just a silly joke.
