Currently I am plating Prophecy of Pendor and I think it is great but are there some other great mods out there tat are single player that you guys would recommend?
-
1279AD or whatever it was.
I am also waiting for the next major release for both Prophesy of Pendor and Sword of Damocles mods, but i guess those might take a while :(
-
The final release for PoP came out not to long ago it added some new stuff
-
Final release? The one i am talking about is Version 4, that would finally be a true port of it.
-
What do you think they will add in Version 4.0 (sorry for misunderstanding about the final version)
-
There's some really good mods out there, but all my favorites really fuck up the melee animations, which usually ruins the mod for me.
Native expansion is good
My favorite is getting the warband battle sizer (to make larger battles) and also TweakMB to configure your own settings.
-
Floris. Floris, all the way. And if you don't like the new combat animations it uses, there are guides on its forums to replace them with the native.

This.
Lazarou's animations look flashy and cool when you see it in a trailer or video, but it's horrible for actual gameplay.

Brytenwalda and PoP would be my choises.

1257AD is the most developed and most historically accurate mod out there, also has the most and best unique models and textures of any mod. As former developer I might be biased, though, but I haven't played any Medieval setting mod that compares to it, for any game.
-
Light and Darkness is pretty good. It's not a kingdom building mod like Pendor or Damacles more of a RPG adventure instead, it moves quickly and is well done.

Yeah, and I was freaking happy when Freelancer mod was 'implemented'.

Prophesy of Pendor is the most fun I have had in singleplayer, ridiculous mod but there is loads of interesting stuff to do. My second favourite mod is Sword of Damocles and my third probably The Eagle and the Radiant Cross, but that one never made it to Warband as far as I know.
I thought Brytenwalda was pretty boring because of the very limited item/troop variety, due to sticking to one culture and area. Those are the things that make a good mod for me, interesting troops and nice items.

I thought 1257 also a had a very limited item selection and troops looked very similar for most factions. I wanted to make myself a nice Sicilian knight with some cool Sicilian items but there weren't any. I haven't played it that much though. I don't think dozens of factions works very well with the Warband war system anyway. It is so much more interesting with a smaller number of factions.

You can tick whether you want to use Native or new ones inside the installer now, I didn't but replacing the actions.txt with the Native one also seemed to fix the animations. Floris is a weird mod though, just a bunch of changes slabbed together, it doesn't seem a well crafted experience like Prophesy of Pendor or Sword of Damocles.

Everything mentioned so far is great. Hated Floris until I tweaked which mods were in it, then I loved it. Loved 1257 and PoP, also enjoyed Sword of Damocles. Never got Brytenwalda to run without crashing instantly.

I guess I just felt like it was the only mod that corrected more issues than it introduced. Their goal was really to expand/fix the original game, and I felt they succeeded in that regard. But yeah, if you want original, innovative content, there may be better options.

There are generic troop trees for each culture group (which is historically accurate and of course a big help in a mod of this scope) but the amount of different textures is staggering. For greater unit variety in battles I must recommend historical 13th century wars between different cultures outside of the European heartlands, such as Scandinavian and Teutonic crusades in the Baltic, crusades on the Spanish peninsula and in the Holy Land, Mongol conquest of Russia etc. (and also Norwegian aggression in Scotland and Danish-German border disputes).
Please excuse me a bit more propaganda
AD1257 features:
-All of Europe, Asia Minor and the Middle East, featuring 42 factions
-Hundreds of new historical, region based troops.
-More than a thousand new items, armors, weapons, all historically accurate for XIII century.
-Buildable castles.
-Manor system, with the ability to build custom settlements (built buildings appear in the scene!)
-Realistic combat system, with taunts, formations, improved horse archer skirmishing scripts and other features.
-Custom battle scenes, realistically depicting each region of Europe.
-Weather system, including desert storms, blizzards, rain storms
-Play as one of your soldiers after your death, with our made auxiliary player feature (can be turned off in the mod options).
-Cruading system: Join a crusade or start one yourself!
-Join a crusader order as sergeant or a knight!
-New lance recruitment system, aiming to emulate medieval feudal recruitment system.
-Companion system improved and remade
-Sea battles and sea travel
-Many new scenes for castles, towns and villages. A good number of them - are historically based reconstructions of real places!
-Many other minor and major features!
Add to that hundreds of lords, ladies, castles, cities and villages, their names and titles, alliances and disputes all historically accurate for 1257 (wherever sources have been available) often to the extent of using contemporary spelling and wording directly from the old manuscripts themselves (Scandinavian factions as a case in point).

That is all very impressive I will try that mod out :)
