I would like ladders if ranged wasn't so prevalent in the game. They add a tactical element and make the maps more dynamic. Putting a ladder down could change the whole way the map is played, and then the next time you play the same map the ladder won't be there or the ladders will be somewhere else

Ranged spoiled ladders though. Can't have nice things when people use them to get into areas that allow them to pewpew all round from safety

Amen. I miss those old clever ladder flank routes across roofs, but I don't miss roofs full of ranged (especially when they destroyed the ladders and became unreachable).

Bring back ladders. Nothing better than a bunch of ranged camping on a roof and I can shoot them down one by one.

Pretty much this. At least with Master of Field we could ignore an archer nest somewhere up and just wait for flags, which was not an option then.

Make them limited though, to prevent spam and encourage tactical use.   :)

bring them back and limit them to 1 per person.

I never understood why they allowed the big ladders. They create chaos.

1 person should be able to bring along 1 small ladder.. 2slot unsheatable.

To get over small walls, gates and barricades.

If you make them sturdy, this means you have to use up alot of gametime in the beginning to remove the ladder.
And since the ladders are small its harder to use them for blocking.

Ranged already have the advantage from a distance (they can hit you before you can hit them), they don't need to be on unreachable roofs (because the ladder was broken) as well.

The only way I'd be open to this, is if every spawn had a weapon rack in it.  But I doubt the Devs would do that, because I imagine you can get around upkeep by pulling stuff out of a weapon rack after round starts.

CRPG died when ladders got removed, back then there were no throwers, HX or other BS.

Why did you have to make the poll for "bringnig back ladders to battle"? Why not siege too? They made every siege match interesting and different, instead of everybody going the same routes each and every time. Should bring them back to siege also.

So that the attackers can easily bypass the carefully constructed maps for siege?  The maps are usually terribly unbalanced as it is on siege (one side usually has a huge advantage).  Now it would just stack every map in favor of attackers...and would still be terribly unbalanced.  So eh whatever, I try not to play siege because of the unbalanced maps, so I could care less if you unbalance it in attackers favor.

I'd suggest bringing ladders back for siege if they changed the game mode to be like a 15 minute strategus siege for each round.  Otherwise I don't see the point.

How can you say that the maps are "carefully constructed" and then immediately afterwards say that they're "terribly unbalanced"? I'm not trying to fuck with you it's just that, if that's your reason for disagreeing, you immediately void it.
They aren't carefully constructed. The map rotation is shit and the devs refuse to change it to the earlier maps, from prior rotations, which were a lot better and worked fine with ladders.
At least with ladders siege would be exciting instead of boring.

Yeah I contradicted myself...I'm sure some maps are "carefully constructed" for balance (not every siege map is terrible unbalanced, but most are).  So the couple of maps that are balanced would get fucked up by introducing ladders to them.  It wouldn't change anything with the unbalanced maps except pretty much guarantee attackers would win every time (so they'd still be unbalanced).  So from the aspect that most maps are unbalanced, and this would just unbalance maps for attackers, I don't see a problem with it.

The siege maps are SHIT and that is the biggest problem right now.  Since I don't see that changing any time soon, I say allow ladders (and all siege equipment), use the castles and maybe even cities from strategus.  Run the siege mode like a mini-strategus siege, 15 minutes per round, more tickets for attackers (like maybe 250) and say like 200 tickets for defenders (just pulling these #'s out of my ass), have the normal flags where people can spawn, and the only way you can win as attackers is to take all the enemy spawn flags, or kill all the tickets of the defenders.

Id rather see a limited amount per round, durable like doors though. :)

Here is an idea  Make people who have a bow or a xbow equipped immune to cav. That way you get you most hated enemy out of the way an the inf can still reach you.

That way you will only be immune to 30% of the server..............................................

There is a choice in poll that answers the problem where archers go to a roof and break ladder. Its the pne where only enemies can break ladders.

That makes it if the opposing team puts up a ladder, they can't destroy it, but your team can. And visa versa.

This to me is the ideal way to deal with ladders coming back, but a new rule should be put in, the "greifing of enemy ladders in order to give the enemy team a distinct advantage."

I dont care for range, which is why there are a diversity of poll options.
I just enjoy the teamwork and strategic thinking it brought to the game.
