Title: New patch (whenever it comes)
Post by: Leshma on January 07, 2013, 10:04:11 pm
In light of recent events, can you please make cRPG more care free and unbalance it a bit, by removing some of the latest balance fixes in this order:

1) Turn rate nerf
2) Lance angle nerf
3) Armor looms nerf
4) Weapon looms nerf

Also bring back silly old weapons and make hybrids like they used to be pre upkeep patch (remove silly requirements like slots and sheatable weapons).

No need to remove upkeep, doesn't make a difference anymore. For most players upkeep doesn't exist anymore.

Please, make last cRPG patch like this. Finish the circle.

maulers have it easy enough already to kill you when you try to dodge, no to undoing the turn nerf

As I said, it's not about balance. It's about getting cRPG to where it all started but with bugfixes and new stuff (just going back to pre 2011. code isn't an option). I'm aware that's a lot of work but I would like to see it.

I don't think that all those nerfs should be reverted.

Things that should be changed in my opinion are:

- add new items!
- nerf some of the overpowered weapons like Glaive or Bar Mace
- rebalance (heavy) horses or make some of them atleast a little bit cheaper
- buff throwing a little bit or make the high tier weapons cheaper
- nerf kicks (make them more risky)
- nerf extreme strength builds
- make weapon mastery more useful
- fix autobalance on battle (no more archer or cav stacks)
- fix one handed stab

They could go that route but honestly, I don't see a point. My idea does seem crazy but it has certain nostalgic value to it. You know, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Actually upkeep is a big problem for me and I hardly ever ear gold and normally just break even when I play as cav. Have to spend more time on siege on foot then playing my actual class :/

I respecced from HA to infantry (lancer cav, both foot and horse) just today after playing it till 3,5mil xp... its not me usual doing a respec, but this time I couldn't play on. I know HA, played about 6 generations and several levels on STF char with it... a buff, if dmg or aim... horse speed or maneuver, I don't care...

and new items plyz.

Yes your idea sounds interesting for a final patch, but in my opinion it is just too early for that. I think we will play crpg for atleast one or even two more years. Make an incredibly unbalanced and fun patch some weeks before you shut down the mod.

The game is a total ranged fest atm, all I want is sensible amounts of ranged with some limitations on the class. Not too fussy on the other stuff. Make armour actually useful against ranged or remove/reduce the ranged stagger.

No way i'm investing in a whole new game when they can't even get Mount & Blade more melee focussed after like 2 years of development. You don't need to implement a whole new engine for this stuff, they even have wse2 now and they can tweak weapon stat values.

3) Armor looms nerf
Wouldn't you say fully loomed armor is strong enough already? Seriously, this mod should become more deadly, not less. I already take way to many melee hits to die.

Yeah, they don't have more urgent matter then patching CRPG in the way you like. Hello, they are making new game so chances to get a patch right now is 0.
Even beloved zimke's armors that fallen sponsored are not added.

Make headshots from ranged to at last 50% lost hp. Because is really stupid to be killed from one headshot no matter if you have 0 or 55 or 60 head armor.
It happening to me all time. I play with 55 head armor helmet and I get killed with ONE (1) headshot every time.
What is the purpose of helmet? Just to look nice?

1h is the answer, left swing to be more precise.

- Blocking changes (tapblocking, etc.) - cmp
- Implementing a new WPF curve + wiping wpf points - chadz
- Changing/removing the multi system - chadz
- Separating hilt and blade damage types - chadz
- Speeding up the gameplay - chadz
- New game mode and/or changes to siege - Ozin

These were all things that devs publicly considered adding for cRPG at some point, but in light of the latest developing news, I doubt they will make it into the next(last big??) cRPG patch.

Probably never, if you ask me.

...with a glaive.

Common, I know it's literally changing one or two numbers on that RSS-like thingie.

Anyway with my newly found love for being a near naked 1h without shield (sometimes I still take it though), I'm having more fun getting killed by glaive crutchers than them killing me. Take THAT, no-skillers.

Also I kill them more easily without my fully loomed body and hand armor, which is kinda weird. But I do die faster in clusterfucks.

Headshots arent that easy to pull off, they should be rewarding. And helmets are also made to protect from melee hits, try fighting without one and you will notice a huge difference, atleast i do.. damn 1h left swings >_>

Helmets also do the protection against bumps, with a weak helmet that destrier is gonna onehit you when the bad gk on it misses with his lance.

It is not really weird, you have with less armor less weight and a much higher mobility, when I am light armoured  I can even sometimes win at the range game against glaives (with a military cleaver). It is all about the timing, and making them get overconfident.
That gamestyle is a very risky and fun one, and I love it. You need decent ping though to get in in the split second that you can pull it off.

What? I thought it was leg armour that defended against bumps.

And to the OP: Oh the power of nostalgia.
Imo the turnspeed should be tweaked to make it affect longer/heavier weapons more, but not fully removed (oh the maul feet hit after the animation is done, how beautiful they were. NO)
And armor looms? Please leave as they are, they are already very effective imo. Would not mind the weapons looms restoration though.

Is there any evidence that developer team will stop developing cRPG anymore? If that is the case I support the idea of reverting many things back for the old fun. Most importantly I would like to see THE REMOVAL OF (-HA*10) FROM WPF CALCULATION DAMN IT!

They will support it before release of M:BG but I doubt there will be much development going on. They'll now use money they've got to work full time on their game, I guess.

Plus something that I always hoped to see, wich is disabling attack maybe even block animations while jumping.

Dalhi, did you play Vikingr mod recently (2012 ^^)? They disabled attacking and blocking while jumping. It's awful! But so realistic. But so awful!

I played Vikingr for like 2 hours overall, things were a bit too slow for me there, but they implemented some nice features and the one that I mentioned above was just great.
Hitboxes while you jump feels "fishy" for me, not to mention ridicoulus tincan jumping style. I always considered this as nearly gamebreaking, and I am not complaining here, just stating my opinion.
For some people it's the way they play, how they dodge melee hits, I do realize that and that's why I know that this will never happen

Yup, when I came back here I was surprised they disabled jumping and shooting by archers and crossbowmans. But after playing a while, I think it was very good change.
Same time i'm wondering why didn't they disabled jump-throwing and jump-attacking. Such a simple change would fix so many broken things.

Dodging bellow and above attacks via jumping and bending down is fun, the many weird techniques you can execute via jumping are also fun, real threedimensional combat beyond swinging at the head is a realm the majority of players haven't ever delved into and I personally would stop playing if they removed that aspect of melee combat.

Post by: [ptx] on January 09, 2013, 04:34:42 pm
Disabling attacking whilst jumping - whatever. Disabling blocking whilst jumping - gamebreaking. If you had played Vikingr for 3 hours, rather than two, you would've witnessed just the ways people exploit that to totally break the game in stupid ways.

Before  when u got shot in the head and survived, the missile would dissapear and not stick out of your head like they do on the screenshot.
Its probably not a bug i guess.

You surviving three jav headshots would have to be a bug, even with the shittiest stats one would wield a jav with that makes 0 sense.

Yeah, the part about the missile not disappearing is "intended" (more like not intended, but not a bug either). However, as Zlisch said, it's a bit weird to survive 3 javs in the head. Was the thrower mounted?

Oh, and by the way, it's just a test for now (only EU1 has it).

If the guy who threw them had 0 wpf, then they wouldn't do much damage. But that seems unlikely, considering he was able to land 3 headshots, and it looks like they are loomed javs, so I would imagine the guy has some idea of what he was doing.

The thrower was my teammate, so its probably why i survived

While on the topic, please reduce the headshot damage for most ranged. Its mostly just random shots that proc the damage anyway and insta kill. The point of the 400% damage in the head was to make people aim for the head, but body shot damage creeped up too.
