Ewww, go to gym instead. Running, doing sit-ups, pull up's, squats etc at home won't get you big or win any challenge thrown at you.

Yeah i heard the best bodybuilders are from Alaska and the legend says on the top of the biggest mountain in Alaska there's a wise bodybuilder who can turn you #SWOLE from a fat miserable fuck just in the matter of seconds.

That's a lie. All you need is imagination & dedication. I'm currently 94kg/182cm, went to gym for like 8 months, till I found out the alternative way. Now I've been playing around with bodyweight & weight plates in backbag, and it's great. The start is hard, I have read 3 books about this kind of training, and then just played around... Nothing better than waking up at 7am at summer & going outside to work out..  8-) Book I would recommend for anyone interested in training with bodyweight is Mark Laurens "You are your own gym", tons of great exercises & information in there, but the key thing here is to try it out yourself & creating your own way to workout.

I doubt any of you guys going to gym can do handstand pushups right now. I can do 13 without taking support from wall.. With support of wall I can do somewhere around 30-40, haven't really tested it out lately.

E:Also the "bodybuilding" itself is kinda stupid in my opinion. The goal of bodybuilding is to get muscles that look huge, but most of the bodybuilders don't really have that great strenght and muscle endurance. They workout just to get their body to look the certain way. While strenght & endurance trainees workout to gain strenght or endurance / both...

Too bad Balton isn't with us anymore, I have an ultimate challenge for him. Way more bad ass than gay weight lifting.

If you're reading this Balton, go to do wildreness and hunt for polar bears or seals (I know it's illegal but you like to live on the edge, right?). If you accidentally put down one of those lovely unprotected creatures (I made it sound like an accident to avoid PETA freaks), tear them apart and eat their whole liver for lunch. Then come back few days later to tell the tale :D

I don't need to do flashy moves, handstand pushups or act like and look like Bruce Lee.

Pull-ups (both ways, training triceps, biceps, back and shoulder) and push-ups every day, running 8-9 km every 2-3 days. Training with weights were never my thing, it's boring and I don't feel like I need it. The training I do is just to stay in shape and being able to handle pretty much everything physical that can occur on a daily basis. It's a good feeling being fit thoguh. Doing stuff that to some is very exhausting without as much as a heavy breath feels nice.

Also, this:

No, I use stairs.

this just made my day ^^

I used to do bb,  then ended up in track and field.  Incorporating weight lifting into any sort of athletic training is the way to go for me,  the synergistic effect on performance and motivation are very favorable.

In my strong years,  I did 10x3x 110 kg bp (~240lbs) and 3x2x 180kg DEEP squats (~395 lb)

atm I comfortably press 3x12x 70kg in super sets with standing rows,  shoulder press and shrugs  in a half hour forced wl routine after my swimming sessions.  that makes me presume my 1 rep max at flat bp is round about  220-230 lbs, not exactly sure.

anyone interested in picking up t&f training might wanna check out http://www.elitetrack.com/,  anyone who just likes to get to know about an inspirational dedicated guy that likes to share his knowledge about training (he does tricking, but many of his tips are usefull to  anybody working out)  maybe wanna check out http://www.trickstutorials.com/

I have also speed coached a few football athletes,  and an nfl germany defensive back  was my trainingpartner in 2009's off-season training...

I'm posting this  to hopefully motivate one or another of ya guys to pick up a sport,  you can also always pm me about it.  If you've never done it,  you just dont know what you're missing out on...

personal records from about 21 years ago(i was around 15)
- 130 kilo max weight with free moving long barbell on the chest trainer, with 110 kilos 4*10-15
- max weight 360 kilo on the 45° leg machine, normally 260-280 4*10-15
- max amount of situps was 400 in one go, normally 4*30 with 5-10 kilo extra weight behind my neck
- twice i finished the marathon distance in a fair time, normally i run twice a week 10-20 km

all in all i had 4-8 hours sport on 5 days a week at that time and on weekends regularly competitions and got close to some nice medals on national level ... then i got injured badly and stopped with that sport i did for almost 10 years. First time in my life my dreams got crushed, not the last time -_-

I work out regularly for about 1 and a half years now.

Luckily, I can train at home.I own a bench and a lat-pulldown tower, the rest I do with free weights.

I really love it.Besides giving you a better body, it is a nice stress relief and generally healthy.

Also, It doesnt even consume too much time if you do a split.50 minutes every second day and you are already in nicely.

Bench - 308lbs for 5
Deadlift - 440lbs for 3
Squat -440 lbs for 3

Strong on bench, weak as shit on deadlifts and squats in comparison

Training for 3 years, carrying a little bf at the moment sitting around 15% coming of the end of a bulk.

Hard cutting starts in about a week aiming for 10% by xmas day.

Guaranteed to lose a bit of strength however.

This thread just made me realize I should really start using those free gym I got at job
(student's job : working as swimming teacher and lifeguard at army base... two free gym that are like 500$/years usually, used them like three times)

I never really loved lift, I'm more the guy who help at lifting while shouting insult to motivate people

I'm much more into stamina training (marathon, free water swimming, hardcore aquatraining etc)

if ever I go to those gym, I'll tell you how much the army guy lift so you can feel better xD

I've seen rather pathetic thing going on there...

and when I say it's pathetic... it is truly

it was training accident, whereby my right knee went out of its socket, the bang caused the windows to vibrate. Doctors told me there was a force about 2-3 tons concentrated through leverage action. Some operations later, i was jogging again, but my original sport i couldn't do without major pain and with some other examples from the people i trained with, i knew i didn't want to follow that path anymore. I still kept on training different other sports till around 26 and kept in shape, afterwards but slowly decaying :)
Now i go with Churchill. No Sports.

EDIT: with 26 i started with meditations and buddism, which also helps to keep down the anger ^^

Except it is full of boys from (normally) 13 - 18 which the goal here it to be a fucking dick and push everyone over. Basically its like a painfull version of King of the Hill, accidents do happen and I myself have gotten some pretty nasty injuries trying to fight there, and the day after when you wake up your body is like
