Looking at all the big red and grey unarmed blobs on the map this needs to be removed. They are quite secure already, because you need an army of 1/3, but with the free gear that are almost invincible in an arrack. Remove it either for groups > 100 or remove it at all, everyone should have had enough time to buy some stuff by now.

Yeah sure... with my mighty 150 troops I can't even attack them (<1/3). And I'm not wasting my hard earned money on a hopeless fight.

Are you complaining about a single player not being able to take on a clan of 50 by himself?
If you could equip your army with like 25 +50 body armors, they would glance trying to hit you.

go to ismirala and get +3 black armors and mail mittens to hihgly reduced prices : ) also +3 destriers and hornbows

I do agree that it should only give peasant gear up to a certain amount of troops such as 100 or 250, but people shouldn't be running their armies with this mechanic in mind, it's a shoddy thing to do.

Big factions are doing it. I've seen quite a few 600 crates, 200 men unarmed and just so want to attack them....

Sad thing on this: If you lose a lot of troops and gear in that fight, 700 crates hardly even your losses on gear. Esp. for troops you have to keep in mind that it takes some days to recruit them back.

You could try buying troops, you should pick at least one faction to be friendly with so you have a safe place to buy gear and sell shit.
I've found cavalry to be very effective against unarmed armies, the scythes and pitchforks simply cannot compete with a heavy lance, and the arrows do little damage to rounceys and almost nothing to anything with armor.
I just saw an army only lose 5 troops after attacking a peasant army, with even teams, and the attackers didn't even have that great of gear.

What kind of expensive gear are you buying?????
All you need for 400 man army to beat their peasant automatic gear is 400 gambeson quality armor with 1 gold each foot and head armor (400 each then), 10 horn bows and 5 xbows (reused over and over again), 20 short bows, 200 arrows, 100 bolts, 150 cudgels, 100 yellow practice shields, 40 falchions, 40 board shields, 100 tridents, 25 scythes or boar spears, 50 practice longswords, 25 axes.
Cost: Under 5000 gold
Your ranged will devastate their bow using asses. and you have equivalent melee gear which is all you need with their crappy armor.
Optional for additional devastating value: 20 rouncies, 20 heavy lances
Goods : 700
Price: 50-75 gold based on average distance trade

Profit: 30K+
If you double the number of quality gear you still have less than 10,000. The hardest 2 things are actually getting 400+ troops (good to have a small bandit clan of 2-3 friends cuts the time in half to a third) and then getting a full roster for the attack - best chance on that is to attack at prime time. Getting 1-2 people to join your cause not hat hard - talk to people in game, find people without clan tags.

Well in the battles I fought so far were very few archers (like 1 or 2 per team at max), though often bows were available. Maybe thats different on NA.

well i attacked an unarmed clan guy that had 100 troops with like 70 lightly equipped of mine. the free gear was almost better than the one i had and i had to earn money for it the whole fucking week. not to mention - i of course lost the battle. free gear is bs. at least on a current level. its just to good.

What the hell did you buy that was worse than the free gear? Buying even 10 swords or spears would have made it worth it for 30 troops.

Well the difference is that you get free gear for (almost?) all of your troops. So you wont run out of weapons for instance. That of course can happen if you don't have free gear and did not bought stuff for all your men and the enemy loots everything during battle.
Also the free stuff is normal stuff, while the most cheap things you can buy are broken -2 stuff and that makes quite a difference. I've seen a few fights now with free stuff on one side and some of the attackers had heavy losses though they had better gear.
