Title: Instable prices
Post by: DaveUKR on September 16, 2012, 11:14:31 pm
Tired of kuyak-warmask-danish GS heroes? I propose to implement such thing as instable prices. How this should work:

Each day somewhere in the night or the early morning the Server checks the database of heirloomed items of all crpg by classes. +1 gives 1 point to the item, +2 gives 2 points and MW items give 3 points. The most used item of the class (with most of points) gets +15% of the price, 2 less usable items get +10% of the price, 3 other usable items get +5%. Same with the most unused items. They're also marked on the website as "mainstream" and "rare" or something like that

Yeah I suggested the same long time ago.. Still like it. :)

It would be the autobalancer of gear!

Would cut down on the longsword guys.

But if that's how they play, they are being gimped and discouraged from playing that class with that gear.

Would this be a maximum 15%, or would it compound over time?

Am i the only one who does not understand this? You mean Marketplace prices? Or the ones in the general shop?

I think he means purchasing/repair costs.

So the most used gear becomes more expensive and you get more when you sell it and the less used becomes worthless?  Seems kinda reverse logic to me...

I don't really approve, if I am EU using a MW Longsword along with a handful of other non-greatsworders on EU, this suggestion would affect us a lot because of all the NA 2h players using Longswords.

More price so you have higher repairs, so if you want it because of the looks, you will keep doing so, but if you want them because of min-maxing, optimal price and so on, you will change to a non-overpriced one.

However, why would it be dependent on the amount of looms? Some people, as myself, play with (almost) no looms, and it would not be the best option in my opinion.

I suggest counting on each round the gear chosen by players and add +1 on a spreadsheet. Then every night you choose the items that have been used within each class the most, and then decide it. That way it will change more often, as looms are fixed and do not change as much.
Maybe I am missing something in your reasoning though

No, I don't like it. Why should I be penalized if someone else heirlooms the same item I have?

If it was based on actual use or something, instead of heirloom points, that would make some sense.

A new law can be meant to make roads safer, nobody likes getting driven over, right? Still, the result can be that only women are allowed to drive.

The implementation matters, or we get crazy results.

If people love to be a kuyak hero its their shame, no need to punish them by higher upkeeps. Also be effected by clans with gear restrictions ( for example the greys and their 831424245 loomed scimitars) would make these items expensive for other players. Cost should depend on stats, not on how many players use it.

imagine the increase cost to cavalry with their arabians, destriers and heavy lances.

modify tax rates on them,  creating luxury tax on highily valueable items etc. and fuck this tax for mainstream gear.  communism ftw1
