Downloading now, impressions to come.
They did give some reason for it but I don't remember what it was.
I don't see what all the fuss is about, though. Smaller squads with specific roles for soldiers have worked awesomely in many other games in the same genre, like Jagged Alliance and Silent Storm.
And if anyone has missed them, the "other" UFO series (Aftermath, Aftershock and Afterlight) is ridiculously good. Especially Aftershock with the proper mod.
Got beaten by the game on classic difficulty ironman mode. Now starting over. :(
Lost my whole 5 man squad to 3 surprise cryssalids. To hell with that underground base!
Btw, playing my first game on Classic difficulty and Ironman option :) Hoping to start raging at some point!Don't do this to yourself. My entire squad of my best men got wiped out in a bomb diffisual mission. Play Classic or something but not on Ironman mode. First finish the game before you hate it then try out ironman. :)

Well, an "in the zone" sniper killed like half of the aliens of a terror mission in a single turn, allowing me to save a lot people. Also the medpacks of a doctor skilled support are so helpful in long missions that I usually bring two of them. I think it's pretty balanced.
Still love it. Granted - it's easier... on certain difficulties. But there are mods already, unshackling the enemy AI and then it's already on "normal" hard :mrgreen:http://xcom.nexusmods.com
Google for the "xcom nexus" and enjoy (too lazy to put the link in here...)
Are you serious? Thin men have plasma pistols that do almost no damage and will get one shot by laser rifles or above. I only played through the game once on normal difficulty, but thin men were always one of the least dangerous enemies in my eyes.
