After searching through the forums i have seen this brought up many times..... but why it has not been implemented or atleast played with is somewhat disappointing. Or if it has let me know please :)
Talking with people and my clan members over the last 2 months we have been playing there seems to be a major element missing to the system. Over looked, not feasible, or whatever the case is im unsure.... but why has stamina been dismissed so easily?
Seems that it would correct the spamming problem, constant jumpers, and just over all nonsense of someone running around in full plate being able to swing with no consequence.
Of course you then ask, what stats would effect it ect. Thats easy.... both str and agil would both play a factor....
So is it more of people want to be able to just constantly spam? Or the devs dont want to work on it?
It just seems someone swinging a great maul 45 over head strikes in a row should be exausted, or whatever 2h weapon of choice it. There def should be some sort of downfall to just constantly swinging and jumping.

Because nobody (or most people) don't want a slower game. Adding stamina will not make the game more Fun.
-
Stamina would give melee much greater depth and interest which some claim to want. Yet I doubt they really do. They don't want to have to THINK when they play. They want it to be purely about mouse/keyboard skills and not also brain skills.

Oh look you just killed one guy but you had to use your stamina because he is good. Now another guy runs up and you die because you were too tired to fight. Sucks to be you, should have found a gatorade in the forest to recharge those electrolytes.

Hiding behind a wall, waiting for my stamina to regenerate sounds terribly boring.
-
and people being able to spam a 20lb sword indefinably is just as boring...... and the regen does not have to be super slow..... but something to factor in the full plate/2h swinging wildly and not blocking or the jumping pike spammers...... makes no sense to be able to do shit like that. And yes i do want it to be added.... i have played plenty of games that use that type of mechanic....

I dont think it really has to do with that all.... they enjoy being able to abuse game mechanics is more on point.

If you're being spammed to death, (which according to you is a big problem) you really just need to get better.
With weapon speed and attack timings in this game it's impossible to spam someone unless they are just not good.
Stamina would slow this game down to a frustrating crawl. Not to mention the nightmare it would be to balance.
-
The fuck is your problem with jumping guys? Jumping in battle is hard to utilize and extremely risky as if you fuck it up you'll get 1hit due to speed bonus, besides, ranged could easily kill jumpers due to the following stun.
-
Battles and even sieges last what, 7 minutes max? You will not tire noticably in 7 minutes, at least not to the point of being so exhausted you can't even swing a sword or jump...
-
The problem with jumping guys???? LOL its unrealistic is why its a problem.... Jump around in a plate suite and see how many times you could do it.... same with swinging a wep the way people do.... go to the fair and see how many times you can swing that mallet to ding the buzzer etc.... 100% fail chance your gunna do it for 7 mins at full power every swing. From a realistic stand point its insane to think someone in plate could swing anything as fast as a naked. But its W/E.... guess we are not shooting for realistic from any stand point other than looks lol

Im not being spammed to death.... its just annoying to have to defend against something that doesnt make sense physically or realistically.
It wouldnt be hard to balance at all either.... im not sure what you think would have to happen but...

Yea i know what that forum is thanks.

I think the benefit of stamina is that it would allow people to choose between being a berserker-type that can be super-effective in short bursts, versus more of an endurance champ that wins through attrition. Just adds another layer of depth as opposed to just str vs agility, and opens up entire new team play tactics (berserkers charge in first as shock troops, then the disciplined warriors move in to clean up).

Yeah, alright. Since you're swinging it that angle...
Anyway, here's my opinion on why stamina is a very bad idea (I'll leave off the usual suspects): It would be something you have to pay attention to that isn't the battle at hand. Watching bars on screens? Not suitable to the way this game plays.
-
Sure it is.... your already watching your health bar.... and this had more to do with balance than realism just fyi.... well its sort of both but
I really hate the fact that people think this is the only game out there that has somewhat realistic combat. There are other games that are similar that use these concepts... and it works fine everywhere else. It seems that it really is more about what people are already comfortable with more than the idea its self. So ill just stop :/

The heslthbar is irrelevant in the middle of a fight, its either red or its black. You will know when it is black without having to look at it...
-
yep and you will know when your stam was out too.... when you cant swing any more... no different than knowing when your dead.... lol
